.....in fact a lot earlier ! Born during the night of the 27th and 27 weeks gestation. He is doing well...though very wee at 775 grms. Early days....
Any words of wisdom/advice from fellow prem parents ? Our DTs were 32 weeks but this is another league...

Oh many congrats Mozhe! Sorry he came a little early, but glad all seems to be going well. And of course, a marvellous name

I have a friend turning up this weekend with her 27weeker and her 28 weeker. The 27 weeker is now 9, tall, athletic, and a superbright boy, and the 27 weeker is now 8, bit of a blonde curly stunner, and almost as smart as her brother...! I shall think of you and your teeny little man when they are running riot around the gardens and cannonballing into the swimming pool. Hope you are all home soon.

mozhe · 13/07/2007 00:23

Thank you....he IS lovely...and Tristan suits him to a tee..

Stay positive,Mohze

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/07/2007 01:24

congratulations

1dilemma · 13/07/2007 01:26

Mozhe sorry I missed this, congrats on the arrival of Tristan. What a surprise.
Hope it is plain sailing for you all from here on in.
Do like the sound of the refreshments in NICU bit about the photos though

mozhe · 13/07/2007 10:40

Yes refreshments are ace.....and general pampering of maman !!! I could get used to that...
Other things are strange,( like the photos...), also a baby died on the unit yesterday evening,( very ....it was expected as far as I could gather..)and the nursing staff went round all the cots,( incubators..), covering them up ! When I asked why,( sensitively I hope...I was genuinely puzzled ), they said it was ' to protect the privacy of the family'....I didn't understand at all..from other prem newborns ? The other parents were milling around still....maybe thought the sight of a living baby would be too distressing ?? Don't know...Am off to buy some nice flowers for the poor parents now...
Sorry if tmi....it was puzzling that's all
Tristan is fine this am

oh how awful about the other baby

congrats on the birth of Tristan - what a shock that he came so early. Hope he continues to improve.

(out of interest, you rate CBT do you?)

1dilemma · 14/07/2007 12:58

Sounds like a little fighter amazing when you see the truely teeny tiny ones isn't it? I am in awe of Docs who can get drips in.
When my lo was in hospital chi chai chimp nice whatever they called themselves was coming round so all the childrens names were rubbed of the name board (to preserve their anonimity we were told), funny thing was all the parents weren't happy about it, concerned about errors if people didn't know what who was where. Names went back up the next day.
Don't foget to keep your strength up it can be very draining going to hosp. the whole time when you have other lo at home and you are in it or the long haul!

1dilemma · 14/07/2007 12:59

Sad for the parents of the other baby will be hard for them to see any baby I would think.

mozhe · 14/07/2007 15:17

CBT....the champagne of psychological treatments imo......in other words 'it makes everyone happy'....

OP posts:
berolina · 14/07/2007 15:36

Congratulations mozhe. You sound amazingly perky and positive. All the best to (very) little Tristan.
(Will have to tell dh (psychologist) that about CBT, he'll like it )

Judy1234 · 14/07/2007 16:12

It must be a strange feeling to have a baby so early and so quickly too. Presumably you're not pushing out a huge great 9 pound thing so does it make the actual birth easier?

So he was due in 13 weeks? They should let children like that be counted as the next school year really for school admissions.

Someone said "In the UK, at least, the law does not allow you to work for two weeks after childbirth and this period is known as Compulsory Maternity Leave. You will not be allowed to return to work during this time. " That wasn't always the law but it was changed to that if you're employed. Doesn't apply to those of us who are self employed. We can work whenever we want.

mozhe · 14/07/2007 18:50

I think it must be similar in France as was told that I couldn't come back to department,( not even for visit....), until 2 weeks postnatal. That was thursday so will go back monday coming....I feel fine and will combine it with visiting Tristan. There are few students around,( and none that I teach ), so will be a matter of getting on with my own work, seeing a very few patients and attending interminable departmental meetings
IT was nothing like any other birth I've had ....as all over in 30 mins !! Felt a bit shellshocked first day but pretty normal-ish by day after really.
Watching a prem grow/sleep is a bit like watching paint dry.....
Later there will be more to do...when he is breathing/feeding properly, for now I just think of it as an extended bit of pregnancy outside the womb
The children's psychologist visited NICU yesterday to give advice about the babies psychological care....lovely.
You would not get that on the good old NHS>

Glad all is going well Mozhe There was a baby die when I was on antenatal (ds1 nothing like as smalla s yours but he was IUGR due to pre-eclampsia) and they didnt even move her from the antenatal ward 9which changed to postnatal halfway down). Poor women was just left to cry in a corner, so it sounds much better there than in the hospital I had DS1!

foxinsocks · 14/07/2007 19:23

ahh that's interesting to get a professional's perspective on it (cbt)

what a great set-up - to be able to work in the hospital where Tristan is!

Felicitations!
Hope they let you fit visiting in as much as you can and that all keeps going well.
Between what would have been 36 and 40 weeks is what I usually say. Sounds like little Tristan is doing great so far.

Congratulations Mozhe.

To the last poster - do you think perhaps you need to get out more?

chipmonkey · 18/07/2007 01:59

Congratulations Mozhe. Ds3 was born at 32 weeks but was quite hefty at 5lb3oz. He is fine now at 2.6, just a bit bossy!
My friend's ds was born at 25 weeks and is now a very clever, normal 8 year old.

UCM · 18/07/2007 02:22

This is all I am going to say on this.

Go Mozhe!!!

You have 2 twinnies who are wanting their mum.

You have 6 kids at the last count, so let the Father do the thing for this time.

Rats · 02/12/2007 07:08

Hi Mummies

I am desperately looking for a small baby born by caesarean within the last two years. Can I beg you to look at my thread: Your birth stories - good, bad and ugly (look at the last postings in the list!) in the Media section (click on the media link above the topic list).

Thanks so so so much

Congratulations Mohze! Wishing baby Tristan all the best and lots of lovely feeding and growing

ABudafulSightWereHappyTonight · 02/12/2007 07:42

Dances - this is an old thread and Mohze hasn't been around since as far as I know.

Rats - I think were were some doubts as to the veracity of Mohze - you may want to find another thread to bump or just start a new conversation.

DANCESwithHughJackman · 03/12/2007 12:15

Oh thanks! I never look at the date.
