This is a thread for anyone who has lost a child or been affected by the loss of a child no matter how big or small or how recent or long ago. We understand.

In memory of the light of my life, Lucia, and all of our little ones taken too soon. x

((((((((Sassy))))))))

I so remember that feeling of realising that no matter how much I cried and wailed nothing was going to change . I am sorry I don't have any wise words for you but I do know ....

frasersmummy · 21/07/2010 11:54

There is a light shining in Glasgow for Gareth today shabs..hope today passes peacefully for you . sending you hugs

I have just taken this from an article on stillbirths on the bbc news site

In previous reports, half of the deaths were unexplained. This new report suggests a significant number of these are in fact associated with failure to grow properly in the womb.

Intrauterine growth restriction may not be the cause of death per se, the CMACE report notes, "but its recognition can lead to alternative management and outcome".

I want to comment and say NO SHIT SHERLOCK

Sorry there are soo many of you struggling with muchy newer grief than mine but I just neded to vent

frasersmummy · 21/07/2010 12:18

Frasersmummy - I have no idea what happened to Freya. We are waiting on PM results. All i know is that the last time i felt her move was the Friday morning and because i had to have my cat put down that night i hadnt realised she hadnt moved for the rest of the day.
When i got up on Sat i couldnt find her on our doppler and just knew then something bad was happening... the hospital confirmed it for me a few hrs later...

I keep getting an image in my head of the ultrasound when they tried to find a heartbeat... I could see her little ribs and nothing moving.....

I was sent home til Monday when they were gonna induce me. That weekend has got to be the worst of my life as i could feel her little body flopping about inside of me...

.... im so shocked how many people are affected by this. The amount of pain on this thread just isnt right...Why does this have to happen?

shabbapinkfrog · 21/07/2010 22:47

Thank you for all your support today - I have really appreciated all your kind words.

It is a weird feeling of....of....nothingness (I dont think thats a word!) Just so many years have passed and just what a waste - the whole world in front of Gareth but his heart problems were too serious for him to stay here.

We met a lovely lad a few years ago when we were in Greece. He worked at the hotel. When he came to the pool on his day off I saw the tell tale heart operation scar. I asked him what he had had his operation for. When he explained to me he had the exact problems that Gareth had.

He got very upset when I told him about Gareth but I said to him that because of the PM carried out on Gareth and the things the Doctors had learnt had meant that he was alive and kicking.

He is on my Fbook list and he messaged me today xxxxx

travellingwilbury · 21/07/2010 22:55

Shabs , I am just about to do the bit I hate the worst about lighting a candle and that is the blowing it out thing

I may well have a wee weep xx

Big hugs to you today xxx

shabbapinkfrog · 21/07/2010 22:58

Thank you TW - I know what you mean. xxxxx

On Saturday Tom becomes a teenager - so, my smile will have to be pinned back on for him!

travellingwilbury · 21/07/2010 23:02

A teenager ! That is bloody scary !

Wine always helps the smile painting I find , but then of course you have to have the shitty downer afterwards

Is he excited ?
