Perspicacious for a boy

I know the practice of giving babies' grace names has fallen out favour, but I've always loved it. Bearing that in mind, I'd love to hear your opinions of Perspicacious for a boy. It means ''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have. Saying that, I'd appreciate feedback.

😂

How about shitblobtittiewank? He would get less piss taking at school!

StuntNun · 21/08/2022 17:38

Imagine the poor darling trying to learn how to write his name in pre-school while it's so much easier for his chums Tarquin and Rupert.

Is anyone else a bit Hmm that this thread is still here but the other one was disappeared. It's definitely feeding the conspiracy theories Grin

Shocked that MNHQ deleted it as it was the most interesting thread in a while. And yes, am surprised this one is still standing!

Mumsnet deletions and moderators rarely makes sense.

CoalTit · 22/08/2022 15:59

It needs to be spelled Perspikassidy, or Perspikayshius if you go with the adjective version.

BerryHibiscus · 22/08/2022 16:05

Is it just me or has there been an influx in ridiculous baby names on here recently?

No, OP. It's not a good name. But I'm sure you knew that already 😉

Sounds like a deodorant

I thought that too. I was intrigued! And such an odd choice to delete.

Skelligsfeathers · 22/08/2022 20:13

People were reporting it because there had been screenshots posted of s certain person's Facebook accounts. Rather than just delete those posts, the whole thread has gone. It is really annoying because it was interesting!
Part of me is wondering if it has been deleted for another, more mysterious reason though.....

Anon1224 · 22/08/2022 20:55

I presumed the other thread went because of discussion of a probably real person rather than MI5 intervention.

Did anyone else see another thread of the type pop up before mumsnet deleted it? Same first and last name in question with a different middle name. Seemed reasonably obscure combination yet I noted a Facebook account ( in another continent ) exists for that name combination and has done since at least 2015. The middle name had same first and last letter and length as the original. Most importantly I don't think it really flowed.

QuebecBagnet · 22/08/2022 20:59

Didn’t see that thread and I’m stalking the baby name topic every day now ready to jump on a first name, middle name, surname thread!

Anon1224 · 22/08/2022 21:29

When I first checked there were no other threads for that name but checking again I can see it was asked on two different reddit forums yesterday.

They agreed the name didn't flow.

Skelligsfeathers · 22/08/2022 21:30

Were the initials cbw?

This one is there at the moment

Anon1224 · 22/08/2022 21:58

Initals were RAK.

Just emerging from the rabbit hole of noticing RMK (same first and last name) was once asked about, as was AMK (same A and K and the M sounds a bit like the R). Again these matched to what appears to be real people.

The JSB linked above also was a real person, though given the names are more common that seems more plausible as a coincidence.

GotTheConch · 22/08/2022 21:59

Don’t be silly.

Skelligsfeathers · 22/08/2022 22:00

The JSB is a variation on OSB which is all over the place

Anon1224 · 22/08/2022 22:22

I presume the final theory on the last thread was correct, ie this is effectively someone's hobby.

It still doesn't make complete sense, but then again people often don't .

If its one of the other theories eg reputation management interfering with search algorithms I would love to understand how it works.

Skelligsfeathers · 22/08/2022 22:35

I think that the rak person has been hacked and is being used by a bot

No one was sure. Possibly a few friends who had an odd hobby, possibly a bot , possibly GCHQ .

This clearly a troll thread, can't believe people are seriously replying

Maytodecember · 22/08/2022 22:52

On a practical level:
No one will know how to spell it, or even pronounce it.
Your child will take ages learning to write his name.
He’ll have a lifetime of explaining his name and spelling it out.

Children don’t like to be the one with the odd name, o,ease don’t do this.

It isn't really, but it is a great example of a thread in a thread, of hiding in plain sight.

CPL593H · 22/08/2022 23:07

Quite a number of us were having a laugh about this on Saturday night (see the first few pages) SaskiaRembrandt is as far as I can see a very long term poster and I really think it was intended as joke, certainly nothing at all to do with whatever bizarre thing people think is going on with "coded" baby names.

Unless "Perspicacious" is something to do with nuclear codes and I'm terribly, terribly wrong.
