Perspicacious for a boy

I know the practice of giving babies' grace names has fallen out favour, but I've always loved it. Bearing that in mind, I'd love to hear your opinions of Perspicacious for a boy. It means ''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have. Saying that, I'd appreciate feedback.

This is a joke..I hope? If not please don't name your child this ridiculous name?! Change your name by deed poll and use it yourself, you'll change it back within a week I'm sure 🤣

bringbackveronicamars · 21/08/2022 01:27

Use the name yourself for a week. Introduce yourself as Perspicacious. See what your child would have to live with first.

Then find a nice, normal name for your poor child.

I don't like it!

How about Gordon instead?

knackeredagain · 21/08/2022 01:31

Point Perspicacious at the potty

What if he doesn't have great insight etc etc
Ridiculous name to even consider , it'll be like ' morse ' Endeavour

What are you planning for the middle name?

i think it’s
Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

caringcarer · 21/08/2022 01:43

If you have 4 syllables surname I would have thought a single syllable first name eg John or Dean. Your child will hate you for that name OP.

ReeseWitherfork · 21/08/2022 01:43

FGS OP you’re naming a baby not a character on the Sims.

And Morse so despised his name that he went by his surname for his entire life. Even close friends never knew it. AND Morse blamed his mother, a Quaker, for his ridiculous name.

CrapBag39 · 20/08/2022 23:24

Pterodactyl is nicer

Lollll

Montgomerymmoose · 21/08/2022 02:01

I like it !
Have you considered Jayze as a middle name ? Or perhaps Jaze or Jay-ze ? I'd need the surname to decide which has the best flow .

Poyu · 20/08/2022 23:25

I think it's brilliant, what about the middle name?

That would be "fragilistic expialidocious".

Emmelina · 21/08/2022 02:03

Other kids will be especially awful about that one, especially when he gets to secondary.
Perspiring Perspicacious is one of the nicer ones I can think up.
don’t be that parent. He will hate you.

AlexandriasWindmill · 21/08/2022 02:04

Perfect name!
May I suggest Fallacious as a middle name? Just in case mini Rembrandt lacks perspicacity after all.

Summerof22 · 21/08/2022 02:10

Poor angel, he’ll have such a hard time writing his name until probably year 3…

silentpool · 21/08/2022 02:10

😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

Carrotmum · 21/08/2022 02:12

Why not call him John and just sign him up for a lifetime subscription to Encyclopaedia Britannica? Win win he gets the chance to buy plastic tat with his name on in a gift shop and reading the encyclopaedia means he is sure to “have a ready insight into and understanding of things”.

Topseyt123 · 21/08/2022 02:20

Your child will think you must have hater him when he was born if you saddle him with such a ridiculous name.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 21/08/2022 02:51

Percy John is lovely and would work with double barrelled surname as relatively simple.

ilovesooty · 21/08/2022 02:52

nocoolnamesleft · 20/08/2022 23:24

It's a great word. It would be a fucking awful name.

Agreed.

SnottyLottie · 21/08/2022 02:53

It could work but you have to be careful with the middle name. It needs to have the right flow, if you get what I mean…

SteerClear · 21/08/2022 02:53

This is a joke.. right??

EntertainingandFactual · 21/08/2022 02:59

The residents of Gloriavale NZ would approve!

"We name our children to inspire them’ (Charity Love, Willing Disciple, Trust Steadfast, Elijah Overcomer, Faith Ben Israel, Steadfast Joy, Pearl Valour)

Interesting documentary…

LondonQueen · 21/08/2022 03:01

Only on Mumsnet could you even think of a name like this and think it's acceptable.

EntertainingandFactual · 21/08/2022 03:10

Maybe Intrepid, Valorous or illustrious for a middle name?

I’d steer clear of imprudent or fanatical tbh…
