Perspicacious for a boy

I know the practice of giving babies' grace names has fallen out favour, but I've always loved it. Bearing that in mind, I'd love to hear your opinions of Perspicacious for a boy. It means ''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have. Saying that, I'd appreciate feedback.

Does it flow nicely though?
That's what you need to be thinking

😂

Grace names are most definitely a thing. Would you sneer at Patience, or Hope?

No but I'm glad I'm not named that way.

poor Percy will have to change his name.

Looks like my cat walked across the laptop

I think your son will wish his parents had had an insight and understanding into life at secondary school when they named him. 😬

true

Blue4YOU · 20/08/2022 23:31

Nah, it’s only too much if the middle names are Owen Robert

I think it's a lovely name OP and will suit any young man as they get older. What the surname though as you need to ensure they flow 😀

Obviously I can't give you our surname because DH has a nice hobby, but it's double-barrelled and four syllables. I think that means he need a strong forename.

For the middle name I'm thinking Jeremiah, but DH prefers John.

Is the surname Rees Mogg?

I like it!

stealthninjamum · 20/08/2022 23:32

Op can you really not see the difference between Patience, Hope and Perspicacious?

your poor child.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/08/2022 23:33

No, nor Grace come to that.

But Perspicacious ...think about poor old (mercifully fictional) Endeavour Morse, who didn't let anyone use his first name. And this is worse because its a much more uncommon word than any of the 'Grace' names mentioned.

Anon1224 · 20/08/2022 23:33

I like it. Good flow.

''having a ready insight into and understanding of things' which are qualities I'd like my child to have.

Well...it'd be nice if your child had these qualities as frankly you don't, OP, on the matter of what constitutes a usable (let alone nice) name for a child.

(Of course, there is a character Perspicacia Tick in a Terry Pratchett book... but that's a witch in a fantasy novel, not the real worldGrin)

Do I know you? Have we met?

Awful name

Donotgogentle · 20/08/2022 23:35

Well, it would certainly improve everyone’s general vocab. A winner at Scrabble. Go for it.

tobee · 20/08/2022 23:35

What is the 4 syllable surname though @SaskiaRembrandt ?

MarmiteCoriander · 20/08/2022 23:35

This is surely a complete wind up!

StoriedSally · 20/08/2022 23:31

Is the surname Rees Mogg?

No, I have far more syllables in my surname than those people.

The problem with many of the threads where people come to ‘test’ baby names on us is that many of them are so outlandish that, like our present government, they are essentially self-satirising. Asa result, it’s getting harder to tell which are the parents in genuine need of an intervention, and which are the naughty pranksters.

tobee · 20/08/2022 23:37

Is it cycling?

lastminutedotcom22 · 20/08/2022 23:37

This has got to be a joke

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 20/08/2022 23:38

How about Salubrious?

DahliaMacNamara · 20/08/2022 23:38

Oh, don't be ridiculous. Perspicacious indeed. You want the noun, not the adjective. The name you're looking for is Perspicacity.
