I love it, DH just did this Confused

Obviously I can’t use it but does anyone else like Hero as a girls’ name or is it objectively awful?

Well, if it's good enough for Shakespeare...

DuesToTheDirt · 02/06/2020 20:07

Awful

BabyDust13 · 02/06/2020 20:08

I really like it 🥰

CuteOrangeElephant · 02/06/2020 20:10

I love it and would consider it if I had another DD.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 02/06/2020 20:12

Somehow it's just so arrogant!

Farontothemaddingcrowd · 02/06/2020 20:13

I love it, but Much Ado is my favourite play.

Peachypips78 · 02/06/2020 20:13

Love it.

What about Hira/Hera as an alternative?

Neveranynamesleft · 02/06/2020 20:14

Naff

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 02/06/2020 20:16

Hero is awful sorry, however I don't mind Hiro or Hera!

Windyatthebeach · 02/06/2020 20:17

Deadringer · 02/06/2020 20:19

Awful

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/06/2020 20:19

Prefer Hera.

ProudMarys · 02/06/2020 20:21

It sounds too masculine sorry

Megan2018 · 02/06/2020 20:22

I love it as Much Ado is one of my favourites but DH would never had said yes.
So it’ll be a hen name instead Grin

PrimeraVez · 02/06/2020 20:24

Love it! But I know my Dh would have a similar reaction to yours!

Orphlids · 02/06/2020 20:30

DP and I both love it, and it is on our list, although not currently a front runner. I like the simplicity of Hero, the ‘o’ at the end, the rather masculine sound and the Shakespearean association. Of course plenty of people won’t like it, just as with every other name in the world.

It’d be a real strain trying to live up to it your whole life.

yikesanotherbooboo · 02/06/2020 20:31

I love it.

dollius · 02/06/2020 20:32

Love it. Also love Viola, another Shakespeare classic

Scarydinosaurs · 02/06/2020 20:33

I love it and my DH hates it.

But he hasn’t read the Shakespeare play, sooooo

Mimilamore · 02/06/2020 20:34

Love it...

1forsorrow · 02/06/2020 20:35

When I was about 14 I read a book by Georgette Heyer, think it was called Friday's Child. The main female character was called Hero. I thought it was a wonderful name and still do.

Megan2018 · 02/06/2020 20:37

@Scarydinosaurs get him to watch the film, Kate Beckinsale is gorgeous in it!
