I raise you 'Libya'. Grin

(Was last week though.)

Chubfuddler · 13/08/2012 20:10

I often address baby dd by her nickname when out in public. I have had stares.

Chubfuddler · 13/08/2012 20:11

Are you sure you didn't mishear Lydia?

peanutMD · 13/08/2012 20:12

We have a child at nursery who is refered to as Squidgletbum by her family :o

fanoftheinvisibleman · 13/08/2012 20:13

Could it not be a nickname?

My mum used to call my DB our horace as a NN and frequently overheard peoples comments when they thought it was his real name.

.....I heard a Sapphire last week....wondered if her brother was called Steel.

Losingitall · 13/08/2012 20:14

I heard a little girl called "December"
Each to their own I suppose Grin

Katz · 13/08/2012 20:15

fan - i wonder similar things too as a call my DD1 - Bob and DD2 Boo.

Selks · 13/08/2012 20:16

In Superdrug the other day I heard a (I presume) parent call out to their child "Dejeuner! Come over here please Dejeuner!"

I had to

usualsuspect · 13/08/2012 20:16

SO?

RillaBlythe · 13/08/2012 20:17

I call my children Boo, Toots, Tatty or Tats most of the time. Nicknames.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 13/08/2012 20:17

Nope - definitely Libya. Or, more accurately 'Libeeeeeyaaaa' several times over. I like the name Lydia. Grin

usualsuspect · 13/08/2012 20:18

Yesterday I heard someone calling Albert and Gladys, I expected to see a pair of old age pensioners not two children.

MerryCosIWonaGold · 13/08/2012 20:19

Yeah. I call one of my kids "Woody" as a nn. A lot of people think it's his real name. And it bears no relation whatsoever to his real name. Starsky could be a nn for James, you never know!

NiceViper · 13/08/2012 20:19

DD hates it when I call her "Bob"...

OlympickingMyNose · 13/08/2012 20:20

Last week, I heard a little girl being called Gypsy Hmm

Also, I know a little boy called Nailey Shock

SecretNutellaMedallist · 13/08/2012 20:21

Kal'El.

As in Superman's dad.

Hulababy · 13/08/2012 20:22

Agree - may be a nn. I use silly pet names all the type even when out and about, few are linked at all to DD's name.

HandMadeTail · 13/08/2012 20:22

I often call one of my DDs Biba. Someone once asked me if I had named her after the shop.

Ketuk · 13/08/2012 20:31

Starsky is a girl, surely not nn for James?

My children have odd nicknames too, people sometimes [cats bum face]
Too bad.

Lucyellensmum99 · 13/08/2012 20:34

Was the brother called hutch?

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 13/08/2012 20:36

There's a kid in my hole of a town called Phoenix. Hmm And that is his real name.

greenwichgroove · 13/08/2012 20:38

Ha my dds nicknames are. Gladys and Mildred! Nothing like their names more their personalities.

akaemmafrost · 13/08/2012 20:38

I call dd Nelly or Nell because that's what my Dad used to call me and my dsis. I've had looks as well Grin. He real name is nothing remotely like it.
