Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
AlwaysHoldingOnToStars · 13/08/2012 21:06

I know a Gypsy who is 10, so way before gypsy weddings.

I always call DS5 Bear, so no doubt someone round here thinks that's his real name.

MissBetseyTrotwood · 13/08/2012 21:08

I prefer Phoenix to Felix.

We know a Rogue. (Girl, after that film I think.)

And the Libya was the other side of the country from Wales. And not a Welsh accent!

mrsshears · 13/08/2012 21:10

I suspect it was the childs real name for reasons i wont mention to avoid a flaming Blush

CaringMum28 · 13/08/2012 22:32

Ran into an Akira (boy) aged 8 & girl ages around 6 called Vanilla (seriously) in Epping forest at the weekend!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 13/08/2012 22:43

Have heard Keegan called many times round here. For boys and girls.

hiviolet · 13/08/2012 22:49

Came across a Pepper (girl) at a baby group today.

Unacceptable · 13/08/2012 22:53

Starsky? I like it, but then people are always slating me for liking names that make them Shock

Stopsittingonyoursister · 13/08/2012 22:55

I heard an Elgar being shouted for in the playground the other day.

threeleftfeet · 13/08/2012 22:57

"We have a child at nursery who is refered to as Squidgletbum by her family"

DS was Squidget as a baby!

threeleftfeet · 13/08/2012 22:59

I know a young woman called Bear. No idea what her real name is, known her years. it really suits her!

gingerchick · 13/08/2012 23:06

Sapphire is a perfectly normal name nothing weird about it ! It is Arabic and my daughters name

FriggFRIGG · 13/08/2012 23:07

DS's MN is Phoenix. S'not weird.

We often call DD bugsy,or bug it's nothing like her real name...

Granted if the child had looked exotic I wouldn't have looked twice, but this was a very ordinary looking child in a Scottish supermarket - it was just a bit at odds - she definitely did not look like a Sapphire - it sounded very affected in a broad Scots accent :)

gingerchick · 13/08/2012 23:14

Mine is ginger and very pale so?

akaemmafrost · 13/08/2012 23:16

I think gemstone names are beautiful if a little impractical. Would love a little Diamond or Amethyst.

akaemmafrost · 13/08/2012 23:16

Or Topaz.

gingerchick · 13/08/2012 23:17

Suits my little girl perfectly

mcmooncup · 13/08/2012 23:19

BUSBY

A child called BUSBY in my parts.

So cruel

tethersphotofinish · 13/08/2012 23:20

In the last week I've heard Newman being told to stop kicking the heads off flowers and Hercules to hurry up because he's making everyone late.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 13/08/2012 23:21

I'm a fan of extremely boring, traditional names, but I LOVE gemstone names! Dunno why since they're so out of character with the names I love...Can't really have an 'Eleanor Jewel' can you? Blush

MrsFaffnBobbocks · 13/08/2012 23:32

Libya - at least it wasn't Labia. (Round hereparts we get em all. Chlamydia, Cheese knees - though that might've been Chesney. Never can be sure....)

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 13/08/2012 23:36

Cheese Knees sounds like an insult! Confused

Ham69 · 14/08/2012 00:10

Half of these names seem far more normal than hideous popular names I know of. What is wrong with Sapphire, Phoenix, Nel/Nelly? Goodness me, some people have no imagination! I'm now wondering what people must think when I call my DS ''Basil'' and my DD "Flossydrops". Nothing like their actual names BTW.

NotEmpressOf7AnythingsNo · 14/08/2012 00:16

I met a (female) Tiger-Trinity last week.
