The gypsy name must be getting popular. Maybe after 'gypsy weddings`my daughter says theirs a little girl up the road called Gypsy!

usualsuspect · 13/08/2012 20:40

I think Phoenix is a cool name.

LackingNameChangeInspiration · 13/08/2012 20:40

sometimes I call DS Batman amongst other things, strangers always assume his NN is his real name if that's what I call him on front of him, they never assume NN even if its one of the more bonkers one

imustbepatient · 13/08/2012 20:40

Handmadetail I know someone called Biba (real name) and she was named after the shop! She pulled it off though, it suited her.

greenwichgroove · 13/08/2012 20:40

Dds also get tingbah and tinkerbell from Gps and Lucy locket.

None of which are anything like their real names.

greenwichgroove · 13/08/2012 20:42

I know a pheonix, his sister has a normal name!

McKayz · 13/08/2012 20:42

Phoenix is brilliant.

I heard a lady shouting Barbie the other day. Could've been a nickname.

usualsuspect · 13/08/2012 20:43

I don't think phoenix is an abnormal name.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 13/08/2012 20:43

My mother once called me poo-poo face in public. Why she always insisted that was endearing, I'll never know.

I do know she never dared utter those two words in the same sentence again afterwards. (I was 13...My mum is the stereotypical humiliating but extremely loving mum!)

TheOriginalNutcracker · 13/08/2012 20:43

We met a Jetta at the zoo last week, a little girl, about 1. Her brother had an unusual name too but i've forgotten it.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 13/08/2012 20:43

Really? It's up there on my list of weirdest names I've ever heard! I must be too sheltered.

usualsuspect · 13/08/2012 20:44

In fact if I could ever have another boy I would call him phoenix, inspired by this thread.

McKayz · 13/08/2012 20:46

Usual, I wanted Phoenix for DC3 but we had a DD.

Ilovedaintynuts · 13/08/2012 20:46

There is a mum that goes to my local park with a plump little boy with a mullet hair cut who wears a muscle T-shirt called Blade.

Sadly it suits him.

BeehavingBaby · 13/08/2012 20:47

I have a Nellie and know a Biba Smile

TeaBrick · 13/08/2012 20:47

Lurking do you live in a town beginning with S? I know of a boy called Phoenix too.

usualsuspect · 13/08/2012 20:47

I like Blade as well.

SkivingAgain · 13/08/2012 20:47

Was the Libya in Wales. Some Welsh accents would sound a bit like that if they were shouting Libby

Queen0fFlamingEverything · 13/08/2012 20:48

I know a Jetta and a Phoenix and don't think either are that unusual [shrug]

Though I do think the baby we know of who was recently named Hooligan will not thank her (yes, her) parents in future Hmm

insanityscratching · 13/08/2012 20:48

Dd's nn is Pearl (dh tells her it's because she is small and precious but in actual fact it's because as a toddler she was like an old woman) but we use it more than her real name and so people assume it's her actual name. Only in school is she called Lucy.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 13/08/2012 20:49

My dd is very often 'Lou Lou locket' which is nothing like her real name!
Ds sometimes gets called Karl pilkington, because he has a perfectly spherical head Blush

LizzieVereker · 13/08/2012 20:49

I once worked at a school where there were a lot of unusual names. For example, Foxy ( a girl) Charleyboy (a boy) and Twinkle (believe it or not, a boy). I promise I am not making this up.

LurkingAndLearningLovesCats · 13/08/2012 20:50

TeaBrick No, plus I don't live in the UK. Grin

Had no idea it was such a popular name!

TeaBrick · 13/08/2012 20:57

Popular all over the world it would seem!

peanutMD · 13/08/2012 21:03

I like Phoenix.

Was speaking to my friend who lives in Fife and her DD has a friend called Artasia or Arty for short, is that even a name??
