Are there any Aussies here?

Or more specifically, an Australian section here?

I've searched for 'Australia' and there are quite a few threads but mainly about moving to/from. I fear that any threads I start will be lost in the mumsnet sea.

She was the one with the insane daily lists?
there was also the infamous pillow poo incident and the guy who loved fishing.

Can't remember the pillow incident .. do remember one with sheets - think a baby leaked and they didn't change the sheets? (was it posted by Cali?)

The fishing one - was this the bottle-o-bill one by ParagonOfVirtue?

BananaBender · 26/04/2023 07:09

I remember that there was the shitting in the pot plant in the bank incident. Wasn’t that the same poster as the baby poo sheets?

marmaladeone · 26/04/2023 07:19

Hahaha. So much pooping and peeing. I thought the kid weed in the pot plant in the bank . Did they poop? OMG that is a bit much.
Tradie one was he was caught a bit short and pooped in a box but ( forgot?) to take it home and the poor OP stumbled across it somehow. ! Eeek

Starlia · 26/04/2023 07:30

Must be the tradie story I’m thinking of….my memory is terrible!
I do remember the baby poo in the sheets and the horror of not changing the sheets haha.
don’t remember the pot plant one!
I also thought today about the ongoing horrors of feeding your children sultanas and yoghurt haha.

BananaBender · 26/04/2023 07:33

Maybe it was a wee in the plant.

@Starlia Don’t forget the frozen sandwiches.

Isoqueen · 26/04/2023 07:38

I live in Melbourne. Also lived in Tassie for a short while. I was born in London but lived here most of my life. Did anyone watch the Anzac Day ceremony ? Getting bigger every year. I always feel a bit sad for my great uncle killed in WW1 aged 21. He lived in Sydney.

blueled · 26/04/2023 07:57

@Isoqueen I usually do but missed it this year. It's always very moving.

blueled · 26/04/2023 08:56

@YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet can you please move this thread into the Aussie/NZ section you so kindly created? 😄

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 26/04/2023 09:15

@blueled done!

@blueled done!

Thank you so much 😊

Now I'm dying to know about the poo pillow!
The things that get in my head....

The poster who always denied she was Cali under a new ID was responsible for an absolutely epic yoghurt and sultanas thread.

Maverick101 · 27/04/2023 01:24

Sorry that's Cali of baby poo fame.

Starlia · 27/04/2023 03:46

That’s right! So she did 😁

Dustyblue · 27/04/2023 06:43

So many old names from EB! The poster I most remember was Soontobegran or something similar. She was a retired nurse and had so much good advice for people over the years, she really stands out for me. She also seemed to know all best specialists to see in Melb!

I didn't know there was a new EB but it doesn't great from what you've all said.

BananaBender · 27/04/2023 07:10

STBG is on new eb. She has even more grandchildren now!

New eb is most definitely not old EB but there’s many familiar posters still there and support. Just don’t mention gender critical feminism unless you want to be banned.

NovelFarmer · 28/04/2023 03:35

I’m from Australia. I used to post on EB. I would love reading CountryMel and I think it was SlinkyMalinki’s posts.

blueled · 28/04/2023 05:27

Seriously crap turn of weather today. Rain and thunder. I'm not a fan, Jan.

Sandgroper · 29/04/2023 12:27

Hi

West Aussie (hence username) been living in UK for 23 years, been on MN for 17 plus years and it’s been so helpful, funny and thought provoking at times😂

hope you don’t mind me joining in, desperate to return to Oz but stuck with DS in secondary school. tried twice to return, DH (Aussie) last 6 months and couldn’t stand the work, got headhunted to return to London, then second time my DF was dying, I was pregnant and got stuck, couldn’t fly back so spent a sad/bittersweet year in Perth. I did join an online group but can’t remember what it was called…..

So fed up of life in the UK and don’t get me started about the dire weather, although today the sun is shining and I have managed to put washing on the line (sad I know) and enjoying sitting outside getting some Vitamin D! Roll on summer☀️☀️☀️

TheSandgroper · 29/04/2023 16:38

@Sandgroper I just had to say hello.

We hello, presume a fellow Aussie, or maybe you are a Brit in WA?

Years ago I once had someone on MN ask me about my “unusual user name” - they thought I liked to grope around in the sand so I had to explain the meaning behind it.🐨

If you know, you know.

Does anyone else remember Sunny Sandgroper on Channel 7? I think they used to sell plush toys of him to raise money for Telethon.

TheSandgroper · 30/04/2023 04:41

I have the toes to prove I'm a proper sandgroper. I even have them in my garden.

I had to explain to someone on here only a few weeks ago what a sandgroper was.

@TerrorAustralis Yes, I agree. If you know, you know. Yes, I remember Sunny Sandgroper. Watching Early Birds when we visited the Grandparents was a holiday treat.

TheSandgroper & @TerrorAustralis - exactly you just get it!

@TerrorAustralis - I do remember that show, Fat Cat and Percy Penguin…. OMG that was a lifetime ago…. Ah childhood memories. We were in Amsterdam with teens over Easter and on a boat cruise and talking about food from other countries, tour guide was Dutch/Canadian and she asked my teens if they knew what “Fairy Bread” was? They rolled their eyes and said yes Mum makes us eat loads of Aussie foods, they don’t even really like BBQs 😲.

When we lived in Singapore, on harmony day at school when everybody brought foods from their home countries, some Aussie would always bring fairy bread. It was always a hit with the kids and the Aussie teachers would get in there too!
