Are there any Aussies here?

Or more specifically, an Australian section here?

I've searched for 'Australia' and there are quite a few threads but mainly about moving to/from. I fear that any threads I start will be lost in the mumsnet sea.

Thanks to the PPs who mentioned everybump. I've been looking for somewhere to lurk where women talk about things other than babies.

I'm an Aussie working in Tokyo for the next year and a half. We had a good jolt a couple of days ago that once would have had me shitting myself.

The sun was out today after a week of fog and rain. How has it been for everyone else? There was even a few earthquakes for the Victorians!!

We've had the opposite... beautiful sunny days, then today it was overcast. And so smoky today from them doing hazard reduction.

I heard the noise just as I was shuffling round doing all that getting the house ready for morning malarkey, and I knew what it was right away. The dog was looking around but not alarmed, so we toddled off to bed.

I'm in Bayside and we've cold sunny mornings and some lovely afternoons. Cloudy and drizzling now. A garage tidying sesh today I think, as I have a hard rubbish collection in the offing.

Our council got rid of hard rubbish collection years ago and instead gives out a couple of vouchers per household to the transfer station. It's crap, I miss the good old days!

blueled · 04/06/2023 07:28

@echt DH and I got slugged over $200 at the transfer station today, for two small trailer loads.

We've got a week of rain on the way, I think most of the eastern seaboard does.

I was at Bounce at the time of the earthquake so I have no idea if I felt it or the effects of a kids’ party 😂

TheSandgroper · 04/06/2023 11:49

Dear Eastern Staters. Your week of rain has just crossed the west coast.

I made the most of today knowing it is coming. My washing machine must be exhausted.

At 11pm?

Codlingmoths · 04/06/2023 12:38

We had a perfect day today and we had my sons 5th bday party at home, so I am so relieved! Everyone could mix in and outside and it turns out you can fit 10 5 year olds on a large trampoline.

TheSandgroper · 04/06/2023 13:40

@blueled Gotta love a six, seven or eight load day.

blueled · 05/06/2023 00:11

@TheSandgroper your UN reminds me of my time in WA. I lived in Munster for a while. What a name for a suburb haha

I don't know why it closed. One day there was a post about the shutdown from one of the mods or admin and within a month it was gone💥

From memory, channel 9 was original EB parent company and they didnt see value in it so shut it down

I was on old, new and motherboard under variations of squeekums
Still have an account on new one, read on occasion but dont bother posting. I had opposing views to a certain vaccine and my 'fuck posting here' moment came when one poster, who i thought was a friend essentially said covid is going slow at taking out all the unvaccinated and wished it would hurry up.
Some days i feel like going to stir shit - hey guess what, still unvaxxed and still not had covid lol

Was on motherboard, didnt visit for a couple weeks and it had gone, had no idea what happed there with trolls and doxxing (what is that BTW)

Im a Qlder now, escaped SA for warmer sunnier pastures lol
Best move we ever made

Theoldwoman · 05/06/2023 03:51

Planted heaps in the food garden on Friday and Saturday, then yesterday the heavens opened up! Hopefully it doesn’t wash all my seedlings away!

blueled · 05/06/2023 04:17

I keep dreaming of a move to warmer climates. For now I'll have to make do with my fingerless gloves and thermal socks.

TheSandgroper · 05/06/2023 09:10

I spent a couple of years in Munster, Ireland. In my younger days.

Haven't had it YET, you mean. What happens if you end up in the ICU? Seems awfully risky for anyone over 40.

BananaBender · 06/06/2023 00:34

@amplette She has needle phobia. Getting vaccinated is just not going to happen for her.

@Ineedcoffee2021 OMG squeeks! I’ve been wondering where you got to and how your DD is. I don’t want to directly link my eb name with my Mumsnet name. I’m from the Bar and Fluffy Vent threads, our DDs are almost the same age, and I had a soft spot for your big dog. You might find me in a freezer IYKWIM. Doxxing is revealing someone’s real identity by use of documents (= docs = dox) and real information about them. Making things public like their name, address, employer, family members, phone number, etc. Nasty stuff.

amplette · 06/06/2023 01:05

Oh, my apologies. That's quite understandable @Ineedcoffee2021

Im pretty sure i know who!
How is everything?
We had to sadly put him to sleep before we moved, was 15 at the time. His health wouldnt have allowed him to move such a long way and he had no quality of life left, could barely walk, was blind, losing control of his bowels due to muscles in his back legs going.

Oh wow, thats disturbing, was on motherboard after the eb downfall.

All good :)

I lost my job over it, no exemptions were being given for phobia, mines on the extreme end

Its annoying but better than the very real risk of an assault charge as i react violently to even the sight of a syringe. Was deemed unsafe for myself and others to TRY take my blood when i was pregnant 13 yeras ago
I actually got hypnotized while pregnant and as my husband puts it, i roared out the chair like a demon. He even admitted until that point he had doubted how bad i was.

I dont even use medicine ones, always a cup or spoon

MrsMacGyver · 13/08/2023 00:54

I am in Australia 😊
