Are there any Aussies here?

Or more specifically, an Australian section here?

I've searched for 'Australia' and there are quite a few threads but mainly about moving to/from. I fear that any threads I start will be lost in the mumsnet sea.

Aussie expat here! There no particular section OP, but if you're looking for Australian forums you want have much luck, there aren't many left these days.

You could try everybump for chat or babycentre for pregnancy, depends what you're looking for.

Or (d)reddit.

OhNoCleo · 22/04/2023 10:25

I'm Aussie! I think there are a few of us, but no actual Aussie section.

blueled · 24/04/2023 14:27

I'm surprised there haven't been more Aussies piping up in here.

Do we smell funny or something? 😂

whinetime89 · 24/04/2023 14:28

Are you up late watching TV and surfing the net instead of sleeping like an adult "should"?

Me too!

ShippingNews · 24/04/2023 14:31

I'm an Aussie, live in Brisbane.

The public holiday tomorrow has made today all that much more bearable.

I'm an Aussie, live in Brisbane.

I'm in Victoria, already missing the warm days.

kitavite · 24/04/2023 14:40

Another mother from the land down under👋

Currently living in the US and desperately homesick. DH and I will be moving back to Australia in a few months.

Hey, this is "my time" and if want to fall asleep on the couch with my mouth open and the TV on then I will!!

ladycardamom · 24/04/2023 14:42

Yep, me too. Brisbane.

kitavite · 24/04/2023 14:43

Did anyone else used to be a member of the essentialbaby forums back in the day? In it's early days it was the Australian equivalent of MN.

blueled · 24/04/2023 14:44

@ShippingNews @ladycardamom I envy you! DP never listens to me when I say we should move up north.

Jenny70 · 24/04/2023 14:53

👋👋 Another West Aussie here.
Yes, used to be on essentialbaby in the day. Lived in UK for several years, but been back down under for nearly a decade!

Eaglesqueak · 24/04/2023 14:54

I’m here too. Born in the UK, but been Australian for twenty years now. Lived in Perth, Sydney and now Melbourne

blueled · 24/04/2023 14:54

@kitavite No judgement from me haha that sounds likes my kind of good time.

I was a member of essential baby for years before they closed it but I wasn't very active and I doubt anyone remembers my UN which was LittleBrittle. Channel nine launched some god-awful 9 honey to replace it which is full of twee garbage.

Quite a few of the members are now at everybump and some at babycentre which are still going strong. I'm on both and the former has an older demographic, the latter has a younger one.

Since I'm 'old-ish' I spend more time at EB than I do BC. I come to MN for the outrage 😅😅

Which city has been your favourite?

M0ose · 24/04/2023 14:57

Brisbane here! Public holiday tomorrow so being a rebel and watching late night TV!

Eaglesqueak · 24/04/2023 15:00

Which city has been your favourite

I loved Perth when we lived there with small children and it’s my favourite for the weather, but I absolutely love living in Melbourne now our children have grown up. There’s so much to do here, for them and for us and I like the ‘feel’ of the city and the state.
Not so keen on the weather, although the return of summer has been fab today!

blueled · 24/04/2023 15:01

@Eaglesqueak I lived in Freo for a few years in my early 20s, it was an fantastic place to live. Haha but lots of things seemed pretty fantastic back then!

Codlingmoths · 24/04/2023 15:02

Melb here too. My older two were born in london hence mumsnet. Much preferred having number 3 here though!

Eaglesqueak · 24/04/2023 15:06

blueled, Freo is very lovely. We were a bit further north, but it was a very easy, fun life when the sun shone every day!

blueled · 24/04/2023 15:09

@Codlingmoths that's interesting that you say that - my brother was born in the UK and I in Australia. Out of pure curiosity and feel free to ignore me but did you prefer having your number 3 here because of the weather, schooling, medical system or something elase?

blueled · 24/04/2023 15:10

@Eaglesqueak Ah wasn't it just! Now I've got a daily battle just to keep my hands warm enough to be useful.
