I've searched for 'Australia' and there are quite a few threads but mainly about moving to/from. I fear that any threads I start will be lost in the mumsnet sea.

North of Melbourne here. I'm a Londoner but have been here exactly 17 years today funnily enough .

Aussies! I'm addicted to mafsa and they often eat (not sure of the name!) But it sounds like they're saying "cassia bowls" can someone tell me what they are?
Is it yogurt and fruit? They look really good 🤤

We do in Tassie. Haven’t turned on the heating yet this year because of power prices. Our grocery bill has gone up significantly also. Petrol also exxy - I live semi-rurally with only the occasional bus service so rely on the car.

I was a lurker on old EB, new EB and The Mother Board. Haven’t bothered looking at new EB for a long time as it was dull AF with how tightly moderated it was.

Yes. Bisto has gone from $6 to $8. Outrageous! (I don’t like Gravox).

Yes we sure do. We have a real shortage of housing here, together with an increased cost of groceries, energy and petrol. Interest rates have up ten or eleven months in a row which means mortgages/rent have also skyrocketed.
The one slightly hopeful point is that inflation looks like it’s starting to come down.

Oh and I got kicked off everybump for trying to teach Seayork how to structure a sentence. She was a mod, I literally tried to teach her how to write a sentence and was booted forever.
That sounds mean but when I heard she was a mod I was lost.
Trying to be nice but this is a regular Seayork sentence : " so other day jam abxolut abd i though think more fish but mean eagle and that sit so angry not but love ducks"
And she was a mod!!!!

Oh Seayork would make such strange and inflammatory posts. And she would often pretend (I think) to be incredibly obtuse.

Aussie here. From Brisbane. I miss old EB a lot. I’m on new eb but it will never be like old EB.

For those who remember BadCat - she passed away about 18 months ago. It was sudden with no illness leading up to it.

I come to MN for the drama, laughs and feminism. Love the gender critical discussions that are allowed to happen here unlike new eb. That’ll get you banned over there.

OMG. Yes her . With the sick sons. Sometimes poverty stricken then a job at the hospital and the kid that had "cyclic vomiting" but was going overseas. Hmm
