Are there any Aussies here?

Or more specifically, an Australian section here?

I've searched for 'Australia' and there are quite a few threads but mainly about moving to/from. I fear that any threads I start will be lost in the mumsnet sea.

Ange and Seayork are still mods. The one with the two sick ones was a mod but thankfully flounced and hasn’t been back.

marmaladeone · 25/04/2023 07:12

I wonder where she went! Ange is usually ok unless you tell her she has to have a vax. At least she has some brains.
Seayork is bonkers

BananaBender · 25/04/2023 07:14

*sons not ones. This place needs an edit function and a like button.

Starlia · 25/04/2023 07:14

That’s really sad about BadCat ☹️
I remember an epic thread about Ange refusing to have a vax before going to minister in an aged care home. Didn’t she call it assault? And that her assault trumped the safety of the aged care residents?

Starlia · 25/04/2023 07:16

I thought the one with two sick sons did not have the right constitution to be a mod. She always seemed incredibly fragile.

OrderOfTheKookaburra · 25/04/2023 07:16

I was in the UK when all of those boards were active so I have no idea what you're taking about!!

But I can share some photos of my local beach, this was taken a few weeks ago.

Cost of energy has gone up so much! Nervous about winter as my DM practically sits on her oil heater already and it's only low 20s. Thank goodness we have solar panels.

Agree. Such a strange choice.

Yes . Very odd. I'm not allowed on everybump or I would shake things up. Is it boring there now or all good?

blueled · 25/04/2023 07:22

DH won $100 at two-up today but he still has to mow the lawn before the sun goes down.

I wish those long evenings would come back, I feel rushed when it gets dark early.

user1486015790 · 25/04/2023 07:23

I am an Australian living in Sydney

That is an awesome ANZAC day

pilates · 25/04/2023 07:28

Yes those solar panels must make a difference @OrderOfTheKookaburra
What would a 5 year fixed rate mortgage be? I have found the best rate for me in the Uk atm is 3.99% . Just wondered how that compares?

BananaBender · 25/04/2023 07:36

@marmaladeone It’s quiet and supportive, so it would be very boring for you!

Cost of living is getting expensive. Bloody groceries are getting ridiculous.

blueled · 25/04/2023 07:39

@BananaBender I couldn't agree more. Every time I go to Coles I get about $60 worth of sod all.

Oh Seayork would make such strange and inflammatory posts. And she would often pretend (I think) to be incredibly obtuse.

He he. There was a thread once, on EB, about what job would you like to have and I said 'Whatever Seayork does as she seems to get plenty of time to cruise the internet' lots of people liked it and I got a gold star.
Snakey cow didn't, I think I might have actually got her.
She got on my tits.

Bahahaha I think I remember that thread. I always though she would vaguely mention having a very important job but wouldn’t say what it was. And her inability to maintain a rational thought process has to rule out quite a few important jobs, surely? 😁

BananaBender · 25/04/2023 08:08

Have a bunch of you gone and joined new eb? The site owner seems excited that there’s new members joining today.

As far as I know she does admin for an estate agent. Someone told me her name but I've forgotten.
I was astounded that someone who couldn't write a sentence could do admin for anyone. Got turfed soon after from new EB after expressing that.

Not me! I’m not interested in echo chambers.

echt · 25/04/2023 08:25

I'm in Melbourne. A beautiful day here, especially the beach.

TerrorAustralis · 25/04/2023 08:27

It’s a rainy old Anzac Day here in P-town. I went to a local service this morning with the family and MIL. FIL was in the saw active service in the Army and used to march when he was alive, so it’s very important to MIL and DH.

Had a nice lunch at the nearby pub afterwards. Most of the other patrons seemed to be more interested in drinking rather than eating!

These names on EB are ringing a few bells. I dropped out after we moved to South-East Asia when DC was a toddler. It was so Aus-centric it just became a bit pointless. There was an expat board, but it was barely active. That was when I found Mumsnet, because the expat board was a bit more active. I ended up meeting a couple of members IRL, which helped me start to form a social network. So I’ll always be grateful to Mumsnet for that.

Baha, that is funny. Not me, but enjoying these updates from afar. Sad news about BadCat, hope her children are doing ok.

blueled · 25/04/2023 08:34

So what did you all do today? It's my parents' 50th wedding anniversary😍

I stayed up late, slept in late, and did about half of what I planed to do. In all a successful lazy day.

Starlia · 25/04/2023 08:36

I played a round of cards with the kids, took a long walk and nothing else. A successfully lazy day.

PerryMenno · 25/04/2023 08:38

@Starlia thank you, that is a lovely way to be remembered. I tried to stay out of trouble but I really enjoyed reading it!

So sad to hear about Badcat, how awful for her family. The usernames have long since been filed in the back of my brain but there were some terrible stories of loss on EB over the years.
