New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

gm- thanks for the advice.. will try and sort tags out later or tommrow when there is more time. the pics are mine as DH forgot to bring camera home... they are the better pics my little phone camera has taken. but the weather and light have been so crap that I'm considering making him take the bracelets to the studio to take pics for me.

meridian · 14/01/2008 17:20

jeangenie- thank you... I'm hopefully going to put some of my paintings in the shop too, but the pics i have of them are really crappy.. had a quick look at your blog, pics very nice will read through it and comment in a bit as all hell has broken loose here.. i.e. DH and DS are now home to destroy my semi tidy house...

Nbg · 14/01/2008 17:25

Jg you are a brilliant photographer. Those photos are fantastic.
I especially love the the millenium bridge and jam pot one

I must must take more photos. My little baby is growing at a phenomenal rate.

Dior- that one is gone to a friend, but I was going to order some more garnet so I could make you something new... I do have some very tiny round garnet beads that I havent used yet so I could have a play with those tonight. you can e-mail me at meridianariel @ hotmail . com and I'm sure we could figure something out... I love garnet too...

jeangenie · 14/01/2008 21:05

awh thanks nbg - thats really sweet of you (deluded, but very sweet!) - I am trying to grasp this photography lark this year so th eproject365is a great incentive - I've already noticed things about my camera that I never did before, and stuff about settings so that the shots work the way I like. Totally gazillions of stuff to learn though, I feel like I am about a third of a toenail into the atlantic ocean at the moment

dior, funnily enough someone just posted that on my blog too. you know what, I might just listen to you ladies (although I reckon is cos I am blurred in the photo and you can't see it right!) - it'll save me ripping it and I will probably wear it like that. Gives me an excuse to buy som emore wool and make a green beret now I know the pitfalls with my big noggin!

am currently trying to make a dolls dress for my ragdoll. needless to say I have no pattern and am winging again. It'll end in tears...

Nbg · 14/01/2008 21:12

no really JG, you should give yourself more credit.
They are great photos.

Well i've have managed to do sweet FA apart from cook dinner and put the kids to bed.
I have however realised that doing the craft stall in april is a bit unrealistic.
Theres no way I'll be able to make enough in time for it.

jeangenie · 14/01/2008 21:16

well you are persistent in your delusion but thank you - I will take the compliment as it is intended, and fluff up my feathers a bit [proud emoticon] - you sweetie!

maximummummy · 14/01/2008 22:22

ooh - i actually did some stuff!
only some mending with the sewing machine and also something silly don't know how to link to it so it's on my profile - i feel equally proud and embarrassed!!!!

Champs · 15/01/2008 01:34

You all seem to get through a lot! Dare I ask... does housework feature on your to do lists at all? I've haven't sat down to do anything in the last week as I've been stuck doing washing and such. Should I just do jewellery and say stuff it to the cleaning?

Dingle · 15/01/2008 17:36

Suzi2 - I seem to go in fits and starts but generally try to get my housework done in the
morning and craft in the afternoon and evenings.

I am trying to get into the habit of preparing stuff in the afternoon that I can sit downstairs with DH and do later on when kiddies are in bed.

Saying that haven't done much crafting at all today, had the Down Syndrome charity accounts to do, then a mad dash around with the hoover.....DH is home now so he is looking after the children so I can attempt some crafting!!

Tillyboo · 15/01/2008 18:58

I haven't got a 'to do' list at the moment as we are living away from home for a bit and I've had a small op (nothing serious, just a bit sore) so I've had to put any sewing on hold for a bit.

I will try and make something this week to post. Meanwhile, no sales as yet in my Etsy Shop, Boo Hoo !

Maybe if I get some more items in there ?
GM, I'm going to work on the Hugglies next, re-vamp them a bit, make them more funky.

Dingle · 15/01/2008 19:58

This week's update!!

For this week:
make another 10 xmas embellies - done made up 31 little reindeer
make another 10 cards for stock - only 2 so far

make a boys 13th birthday card! done
make a 19th Birthday card
make a birthday card for BIL
make x1 Feb Birthday club card

make a girls 11th birthday card
make SIL birthday card

I am trying to work down the list of card I need and a the same time making a least another 2 similar cards for stock!!

Here are my latest cards...next on my list is a girls 19th birthday card....looking forward to that! My list has hardly been touched this week!!

lucykate · 15/01/2008 20:01

i have a get my arse in gear 'to do' list

cushion cover, design, make and write instructions for a magazine editorial
finish large owl softie
valentine swap
stuff for etsy shop, need to break this down to a smaller list though

tomorrow, dd - school, ds - nursery, dh - work (thank goodness, otherwise it's like trying to sew whilst being chased by benny hill ), me - house to myself and sewing all day

Gingermonkey · 15/01/2008 20:40

suzi2, what's housework???

My postman came today, whilst I was out and brought me a FAB bracelet, thank you Meridian, I love it. Actually, I think you have been secretly spying on me because it's perfect. And the little knitted pouchy thing is gorgeous (although has been snaffled by DD to keep her phone warm....yes, she's 8, yes she has a phone - please don't start on me everyone, I am not pleased about it myself - long story and I will rant).

Tomorrow is wednesday - WHOO!!! I can sew all day (tho DH is planning on lurking around in the morning ).
I have done nowt all week so I need to make tomorrow:
:: 2 x frog doorstops
:: work on some new designs I have drawn up but not cut into patterns yet
:: think about what I am going to do fo rthe mobile swap
:: eat some chocolate (because Champs mentioned chocolate and now I am desperate for it)
:: try and find a post office that opens on a wednesday, but not the main one in town because that is full of old people paying things on special cards (gas? electric? what is it?) and people with foreign accents doing all sorts of things that take several hours each transaction (what do they do? Why don't they go to their local post office? Who are they, and why oh why of all the places in the World did they choose to live in WAKEFIELD?????) Then I can FINALLY post out NBG's present (sorry, I am a useless cow bag , it's been sat wrapped up and ready to go for over a week)
TB - why have you not sold anything???? Have you got UK in tags? And pillow and cushion? I don't get it , I love them all. V excited to see more hugglies, I love the hugglies.

Fubsy · 15/01/2008 21:03

Ive been browsing everyones Etsy shops, and they are lovely. If i had any money I would want something from them all!

Sadly I am extremely short of dosh at the moment thanks to car dying before Xmas and too much therapeutic sales shopping.

On the bright side, some more yarn arrived today (some of these online yarn shops are very quick!)

So now I have a good stash building up.

On the go i have:

One sock
String shopping bag
Felted shoulder bag

And lined up i have:

Different socks
scarf
bumbag
hot water bottle cover
shrug

The great thing about knitting is i can pick it up and do a little, which i cant do with cards or beads as I havent the space to leave projects out half finished. (I do most of my crafting sitting at the ironing board )

This thread is very inspirational though

Tillyboo · 15/01/2008 21:36

GM - I don't know why no sales as yet, maybe it's too soon after Christmas.
Early days anyway so I'll just see what happens.

I'm excited about my new designs so I'm a happy bunny !
