New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

gm- all i have done are the 40cards for the studio... and made maple nut muffins, and oatmeal cinnamon cookies... I'd share buy the muffins have all been snaffled and the cookie jar dosen't look as full as it was...

Dingle - colour wise I will trust your expert eye - I don't mind 'non traditional' colours - mum is quite funky

I have done the blue challenge and this week I plan on

*making some bracelets and a necklace with the beads that arrived saturday.
*decide what to do for the swap
*make valentine's cupcakes! its crafty
*do some knitting
*organize crafty things
*drag paints out and actually paint a painting
*sketch/draw

Gingermonkey · 11/02/2008 11:32

Meri - I am glad I don't live closer to you, you'd get fed up with me just popping in for a minute and scoffing all your cakes

I love the blue challenge - it looks great. The bracelet reminds me of one my mum used to have when I was small, and I used to play with it all the time. Left a comment on the blog for you! Well done for doing all the cards!

dizzyday07 · 11/02/2008 14:53

Finally tracked down my last entry and the outcomes are:

  • Make a reusable shopping bag for a friend - STILL TO DO
  • A cushion cover - STILL TO DO
  • A pair of curtain tiebacks - DONE
  • Hem a piece of material to make a tablecloth - DONE
  • Patchwork fleece blanket - see my my blog

Added to the list of "to dos" are:

  • Make a duvet set
  • Alter a duvet set
  • Design and make a Knitting bag and mobile phone sock - for my mum

PLUS
I need to decide what I'm going to make Miaow for the Great A&C Easter Swap!!

Nbg · 11/02/2008 15:06

ARGHHHHHH

I've got you as my swappee meri!!!!!!!!!

How long do we have to complete this?

I ahvent done much this weekend. Well I did make a little bunny but it was utterly rubbish. But thankfully as soon as ds1 saw it he took it straight off me
I ahve also started a miniture doll which hasnt taken much time at all so I'm hoping to get a few of them done this week. Thats my challenge.

My nan (lord bless her) has knitted some little slippers for my craft stall
They're actually really sweet lol

meridian · 11/02/2008 15:20

gm- thank you for the lovely comment... i quite like the hair bobble... i'm not sure how stable it will be yet.. its crafting all purpose glue and wire holding it together so will see later tongith if its done the trick or if it needs re doing with super glue... me alone with superglue.. might be a bad thing...

dizzy--the patchwork looks nice.. very nice idea with the taggies when finished... hasn't that shopping bag been on your to do list for awhile now?

nbg- LOL I'm nto that bad am I?

Gingermonkey · 11/02/2008 17:07

hang on - have we got swap emails????????

Gingermonkey · 11/02/2008 17:17

ha!!!! I found it....had a proper panic, went to the email - nothing there, came back here, and phew, found it!!!

rantinghousewife - you lucky bugger, you've got lumbered with me, ha ha! I am all a fluster trying to think what to make that's eastery and different and all that jazz.

LK went to ikea today (again!) to buy some of those shelves you have, now that DD's room is finished. I was humming and ha-ing over a mirror and didn't get it, but now wish I had, so think I'll be going again this week, ha ha ha! (it was very pretty - oval, hung on a chain, with ribbon too, and then lace printed around the outside, plus a small hand held size as well - for £20 which was very reasonable, I think)

Nbg · 11/02/2008 17:17

Greebo posted the swap on the blog GM.
No emails yet.

You have Rantinghousewife and vice versa.

I've finished a mini doll and atm I'm just finishing a bag for it to go in.
When I've done it I'm going to post pics and start a thread for honest opinions to see if people would actually buy them.
And I mean honest

gm, you went to ikea and didn't tell us

, i would be there so much more if it wasn't so far, i miss not being closer. when i got home last week, dh was like, 'did you get this, did you get that?',

'errr no!'

so we will, no doubt be doing another trip soon. there are a few things we need to finish off the kitchen.

am hoping to have a go at something blue, mainly because blue is not a colour i usually go for, but need to make dd a new eye patch for her glasses as we've lost her other one (although i think she's hidden it due to not liking doing the patching after school)

might take some photo's while i do it to blog a tutorial, i mean, if your dc needs to wear a patch, it might as well be a jazzy, pink one

Gingermonkey · 12/02/2008 08:37

y'see, LK - I have Ikea at Leeds, just 15 mins from mine so it's a bit like going to the corner shop! I had to bribe DD and her friend to come with me though, ice cream, donuts and hotdogs (which DD's friend said was the best lunch she'd ever had - lol, she can come out with me again if she's so easily impressed!!!)

We definitely need to have another midlanders meet up soon - I really enjoyed last week.

Meri - is Buxton near you at all?

meridian · 12/02/2008 08:51

gm-not terribly near but have gone there in the past... off to Caudwell's Mill in Rowsley today and possibly Derby for ds as well

made this necklace as per a friends request.

right i'm gone... have a nice day ladies

DS was better for awhile but had gone downhill now... he is lying in the dark in the living room yayning his head off, so early night then...

still don't know what to do for the easter swap.. but should have a few hours to myself tommrow to rack my brain...rifle through my craft boxes then start shopping! any excuse

Gingermonkey · 12/02/2008 18:37

I have started my easter swap thingy, hopefully Ranting will like it (she has been very quiet since finding out she has been put with me I do hope that's not an indication of disappointment!!!).

Meri - I may have to come to Buxton next week or so, to pick a desk up (that I'm watching on ebay), so thought I'd pop in to yours to have some cake if it was on the way (see how I invited myself!!!). I'm going on a desk buying mission tomorrow so may not have to go to Buxton after all, but we shall see............
