New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

OP posts:

The cards look lovely Meri. Very pretty.
I like GM's excuse of an old necklace cut up for more bead buying
Poor Frizbes dd. Glad shes not broke anything.

I made another doll yesterday although I'm not as happy with it compared to the last one.
I have also started making dd one of those smock aprons and I'm thinking of putting some pockets on the front for crayons.
I'll see how it goes though first

Gingermonkey · 09/02/2008 10:03

Good idea for crayon pocket. They're a bit fiddly, but very easy - just a lot of measuring to get your crayon slots perfect. (did that make sense? - ykwim!)

JG - My parcel arrived, I have it on, DD says 'what are you wearing?' I say 'A scarflet' she says 'but you don't need it in the house, do you?'
pah! Love it and I love the corsage (attached right now to said scarflet, and around my neck, in the house) and the card too. Good lordy I love that fabric!

I am a very happy monkey today, and will wear my scarflet all day - much to DD's chagrin.

Nbg · 09/02/2008 10:10

Yeah I was thinking its going to be a fiddly one.
I mean do I allow for chunky crayons, felt tips, or standard size?

Will see how sane I am after making the apron first lol.

at your scarflet. They are fab.

In fact JG do you make childrens sizes?
Dh is taking dd skiing in Austria at the end of next month so a scarflet would be great for her.

Nbg - if you'd like some of those fleece snood type things (like this) for when she goes skiing I could make you some

Not as trendy as one of JG scarflets though!!

Nbg · 09/02/2008 11:02

Oooh yeah dizzy.
I'll email you

I've just posted my blue thing on the blog and its come up that Fubsy has posted it and not me??????

lucykate · 09/02/2008 12:43

nbg, i've had the same thing, there was a dodgy comment left on the blog, so i signed in and deleted it, but when i went to add a comment, it said i was fubsy too, so i signed out, and signed back in with my own log in to get back to lucykate

Nbg · 09/02/2008 13:34

Weird isnt it.

Only thing is now though, how are we supposed to write anything on the blog of everyone is Fubsy?

Dingle · 09/02/2008 13:38

Weird!!! Hopefully it will all sort itself out soon! I haven't started my blue challenge yet but have a few ideas up my sleeve just not sure which one to attempt first!!LOL.

Just blogged...(been a bad blogger!) This little piggie went to Blogland!

Nbg · 09/02/2008 13:46

Its fab dingle. I love it.

Gingermonkey · 09/02/2008 13:57

dior - I really like that exploding box (and now I know what one is, which makes me happy!)
Dingle - piggy is lovely!
NBG - I'd go for chunky crayons, as they are fatter and therefore easier to measure

absoloutly exausted.. slightly hellish day.. watching frizbe's daughters as well as ds has worn me out today.. have got no crafting done.. no blogging.. though made maple pecan muffins for breakfast.. then made oatmeal cookies later on now i need to go sort out tea for dh and then collapse infront of the tv...

bit at DH too... C at the studio asked me to make a bracelet for her daughter which i did saying could she buy it from my etsy shop.. so I can get good feedback and that its through paypal and becomes my bead money.. i made the bracelet put it on etsy so they could have a look and they have bought it .. now DH says I have to refund it all.. WTF i'm not even arguing about it... too angry.. its a small thing but FFS its my little thing... I would have gladly refunded half so I had some moeny to cover the cost of the beads... I dont think my bracelets are that expensive or anything.. I jsut want to make enough to continue without having to resort to house funds....

sorry bit of a rant... I just had to say it to someone... how can i be so upset over soemthing that really is only minor.. I know they are friends...more than Chris just working at the studio... aaaaaaaaaaahhh

sorry

vInTaGeVioLeT · 09/02/2008 19:32

meridian i don't understand?
is you husband saying you should just give it away?

meridian · 09/02/2008 19:34

oh and made 13 cards.. another erm 25 or so to go...

blue things look lovely... BTW.. sorry about my stress out... shall try and think happy crafty thoughts and report back tommrow or monday...

and I don't know whats wrong with blogger.. but so far its not gone all german and wierd againtouch wood..

meridian · 09/02/2008 19:39

vintage-- I don't either.. I thought it was understood I would gladly refund half.. I just wanted to recoop some of the losses for cost of beads, and etsy/paypal costs... then I have to make these freeking cards for the studio.. which i know is technically OURS.. but its not really its his company his studio.... and this is my little little bit of crafting... sigh... he is being HELPFUL ...

dizzyday07 · 09/02/2008 19:53

If they asked you to make them something and were happy to pay for it then refunding them could cause them embarassment/awkwardness (in my opinion)

meri. is it because they are friends/colleagues, that your dh doesn't think they should pay anything?

as nice as it is to give away something you've made, it can give off the wrong signals, my dh has had his fingers burnt so many times doing portraits at 'mates rates' as we call it now
