New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

jeangenie · 05/02/2008 12:11

jeangenie · 05/02/2008 13:55

probably will have by the time they leave anyway

Nbg · 05/02/2008 13:57

well if thats the case dont you dare come on here flaunting your purchases in front of me and JG.

Its just not fair I tell you.
NOT FAIR!

jeangenie · 05/02/2008 14:22

am off now NBG - sorry to leave you totally alone here - surely they'll be back soon? (and not a word of fabulous fabric purchases until our feeling-left-out emotions are less raw ladies - should be at least a day or two)

hello Ladies had a lovely time at Swedish Crafts Day.. hopefully I didn't come off as being too much of a geek to the others.

no pictures except for one of DS with a cloth bag over his head as a hat. will upload that later maybe...

lucykate · 05/02/2008 19:44

helloooooo!, well i've escaped to my next door neighbours for the evening, babysitting, managed to pinch dh's laptop too

well, who would have guessed it, we're all real people, with children and everything! weren't all the dc's good, my 2 have well and truly worn themselves out, ds was fast asleep within a couple of minutes on the way home. when we got home, i sneaked upstairs to open my 'pif' from gm, but heard an 'oooOOOooo' behind me, followed by a 'is that mine?', she's lovely gm , dd has called her lucy kate

and guess what, none of us bought any fabric, i did however buy, lots of light bulbs, peg rails, and giraffes!

was lovely to meet everyone today

meridian · 05/02/2008 19:59

LK- it was a very good day... and now I have to go run off to a pilates class... if i don't go the gym manager will kill me.. as frizbe and I asked for more classes later than 6 and we have got it now... could do with another coffee though.. just had the 6 today..

jeangenie · 05/02/2008 20:11

well, a house always needs more giraffes LK

now, peg rails, tell me - did they have those shortish ones with the little dowels stuck in at a diagonal? (real simple) - I've been looking for another one for years and my local ikea doesn't seem to do them anymore _ I have a big gap on my hall wall that needs one desperately...

glad you lot had fun - we missed you!

lucykate · 05/02/2008 20:46

jg, no, they didn't, i know the ones you mean as that is exactly what we had in our old house, these are 4 metal knobs (can i use that word?? ) on a piece of wood, £1.99 each

dizzyday07 · 05/02/2008 21:02

We had a really good day too - it was nice to be able to put faces to names. DD hasn't stopped talking about "My friend Lucy" since we left!!

Gingermonkey · 05/02/2008 21:06

Hello!!!! I'm here too!!! I did buy a snippet of fabric...but it was tea towels (to be cut up still though). I also need a peg board like the one you describe, Nbg. I asked Hillary from wee wonderfuls where hers came from ,and it's an American site (obv) but they ship internationally, so I'm going to ask them how much (wait for them to tell me it'll be 'a billion pounds please'

I had a great day today. It was really lovely to meet everyone, and we def def def need to do it again....and we also need to arrange a big knitting and stitching show type of meet up somewhere so loads of us can go. What's coming up this year? (LK - you'll know, you're the show expert ). I can now PHEW that you like the PIF (I was worried all the way home and on tenterhooks). Do you really or are you just being nice? She is supposed to be you...kinda.
I brought my camera too - dammit, I got caught up with all the excitement and forgot to take pics.

Did everyone have pancakes tonight?

dizzyday07 · 05/02/2008 21:17

Can I ask a question? - well 2 really!!

  1. Excuse my ignorance but i'm new to this crafting business - what's a PIF?
  1. GM, TB & LK - what thread do you use on your softies? You know for the decorative seen stitching - is is cross-stitch type thread?
dizzyday07 · 05/02/2008 21:17

I bought tea-towels too - but because we need them in the kitchen!!

lucykate · 05/02/2008 21:27

gm, she's lovely, honestly, i'll take a pic tomorrow of her in her new home to blog!

dizzy, glad dd made such an impression, just hope she wasn't too bossy. and thread, i used to use stranded cotton, after designing cross stitch for so long, i've tons of the stuff!!, but i kept getting annoyed with it tangling, so now use perle cotton 5, 8 or 12 depending on how thick i want any embroidery to be, but mainly 8 atm. and a'pif' is a blog thing, its 'pay it forward', gm was offering 3 freebies on the basis that whoever signs up for it also offers to do the same, so i've also got 3 people to make thing for

Gingermonkey · 05/02/2008 21:27

PIF is pay it forward...you offer one on your blog (or shop) and then the person that receives a gift passes it on through theirs, and so on and so on. I got one from Miss Frugality (well, I haven't GOT it yet, you have a year to hand them out), and LK, and 2 others were the first to comment on my blog when I offered it. It's a good deed, basically.
And yes, cross stitch type thread. Anchor is what I use generally.

Gingermonkey · 05/02/2008 21:29

thank you LK.

lucykate · 05/02/2008 21:30

and holy crap , pancakes!!, i forgot

Gingermonkey · 05/02/2008 21:32

we had them - I had just sugar, DD had nutella, and DH had bananas, whipped cream, and nutella. Who's a greedy pig then??? Oh, and DS had rice cakes - pancakes (like most things) are 'Bleurgh'

rantinghousewife · 05/02/2008 21:32

My you lot have been busy!
Glad you midlanders enjoyed your meet up!
Have been crafting like the devil but have not updated my blog for a long time (must get round to that soon.)

Gingermonkey · 05/02/2008 21:43
