New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

OP posts:

Hang on let me see what I use. lol, it's Habico, great minds eh? I get it from the local haberdashery.
I keep thinking I'll bulk buy from ebay but last time I bought some it was horrible - the sort that makes squeaky sounds when you squish it. What I'd like to use is natural stuff, but it's silly money. But if anyone else can recommend something, I'd like to see what else there is out there...

Nbg · 04/02/2008 15:29

Ahhhhh
I get it from Boyes (dont think you have any in your neck of the woods do you?)

Yuck at the squeeky stuffing. Reminds me of nails down a blackboard.

meridian · 04/02/2008 15:33

NBG- thank you... I have to sell a few more before I can make necklaces.. as the price is so much... and not good enough at bending wire to make earrings yet... its the whole catch22 thing cant sell it without making it, cant make it without selling it or something... and as i used up all the prehnite and most of the amathyst in that last bracelet I would have to order more.... will go see what little i have left in my paypal as i already ordered some beads this morning...

dizzyday07 · 04/02/2008 15:46

LK - I'd listen to what the Doc said more than NHS Direct as he's seen her snd they can only give general advice. I'm fine with her coming if need be.

As regards to "selling" - maybe the solution would be to put any advertisement on the general For Sale board but put a thread on A&C with the link to it.

Tillyboo · 04/02/2008 16:49

Nbg - Thank-you ! of course you can contact me about a painting in the future. I'd be delighted to do one for you. My email is
laurie at mysassy dot fsnet dot co dot uk

I get my polyfill from Dunhelm Mill and it costs me £3.99 for a Kilo. It's good quality and is fire and furnishings fire aproved.

Cute little doll too !

GM - I adore those knitted eggs. I have tried and failed to knit so I'd be happy to receive something like this in the swap too.

I've posted some more pics of my sensible, what I call 'proper' paintings' on my blog if anyone is interested.
If you like animals you may be interested, if not, you might just say 'it's a horse, dog'

Nbg · 04/02/2008 16:55

Blimey Tilly!
They are amazing.
Horses are very hard to draw I think.

I'll contact you thanks

Lovely pictures Tilly!

(Just a brief post so I can go back and examine the egg knitting pattern!)

Dingle · 04/02/2008 21:43

OMG.....I have won another comp!!!

I have just won a set of rubber stamps for the same Valentine Card on another forum!!!

Not managed much crafting today apart from knitting a little head for my "animal!" Now I need to decide whether its a cat, a rabbit, a teddy....so I can knit her ears and tail!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 04/02/2008 22:04

CONGRATULATIONS DINGLE

jeangenie · 04/02/2008 22:08

jeangenie · 04/02/2008 22:34

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 22:35

meridian · 04/02/2008 23:22

Gingermonkey · 05/02/2008 07:27

lol at aerobics, meri - my idea of HELL!!!!

See you in a bit, meri, LK, and Dizzy!!!! I printed off my directions from internet (so I really can't get lost), and I'll set off a bit early just in case...so should be there before 11, more like 10.45 or a bit before. I'll text you all when I get there anyway.
Blimey, it must be even colder today...my knees are really knocking

lucykate · 05/02/2008 08:22

well, we're up, and we're dressed, dd isn't going to school, so you'll all get to meet the real lucy kate! snack bag is packed, aiming to set off at 9, need petrol on the way, and if we get there early, shall nip in the big next first, dd has some vouchers

meridian · 05/02/2008 08:55

up and dresed.. except for ds who has managed to dissapear on me.... see you all in a bit.... absoloutly arctic today.

Tillyboo · 05/02/2008 09:04

Have a great meet up ladies !, post some pics please. Sounds like you all need your thermal vests & knickers if it's that old.

jeangenie - I haven't done any serious painting for a long time but it has been a big part of my creativeness. At school I lived in the Art room - hence getting thrown out of Needlework, ha! ha!

I'd sort of forgotten about painting as the sewing rather took over but I feel a bit more inspired now after all the lovely comments.

Well done Dingle ! Blimey, you're on a roll girl ....

jeangenie · 05/02/2008 09:33

enjoy yourselves - hope it's not too chilly in the great swedish wonderland in the end. We'll want a full report on everything (including temperature ) when you get back

in the meantime - I've blogged my bits for the mobile swap I'm in, mostly to put GM out of her misery trying to imagine them Hope I haven't totally buggered up my sewing machine sewing milk cartons

Nbg · 05/02/2008 09:53

Hope you all have a great time today

JG your mobile swap is brilliant.

I've received my beads I ordered the other day so I'm off to have a play.
I'm also going to have a go at doing another doll but with some corduroy!

Do you think it would look silly if I sold both jewellery and some fabric bits at the craft fair?
I have a 6ft table and by the sounds of it the other crafters there are quite experienced.

I dont want to bugger it up on my first shot.

jeangenie · 05/02/2008 11:00

I think Jewellery and Fabric bits would be fine. Hope it goes well, the very idea of craft fairs terrifies me
