New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

yoo hoo, knitters - look at this. Nice idea for the a&c Easter swap (especially if someone gets me - ha ha ha, hint hint!!!)/Easter Presents/Easter Egg hunt. MUCH nicer than a cadbury's creme egg!

I wish I could knit and very grumpy!

jeangenie · 04/02/2008 11:37

nice link GM - don't be come down to me and I'll teach you (and give you a couple of smallfry to take back with you!)

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 11:41

Don't be offering me knitting lessons and small children, because you know I'll take you up on that offer!!!

DS is currently amusing himself with a piece of tin foil in a bowl (his 'ball' apparently) and has a piece of toy stuffing fluff stuck up his nose...I worry about the boy, I really do!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 04/02/2008 11:44

i'm loving that site gingermonkey!! if only i could knit - i am actually trying to knit a scarf for ds but didn't have enough wool so have made it stripey but the two wools don't really work together!!!!

when i've finished(i'm determined i will!) i will post a picture which should give the knitters a good laugh!!!

ds loves it already - he's not fussy!

jeangenie · 04/02/2008 11:46

and I live really near Dulwich GM - near where that dollyfest you are so keen on is going to be - now, can you resist a visit, can you, really?

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 11:55

JG - now you're just being mean ....but if I wasn't going to Paris on the 26th I'd be there, whether you liked it or not! (Dh will be needing my help with his packing for Paris, no doubt spreadsheets and 'what about this?' will be the highlight of my weekend...and I am not joking, DH is a bloody nightmare when it comes to clothes)

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 11:56

VV - your knitting will be better than anything I could do, believe me!

meridian · 04/02/2008 12:02

gm- lovely little knitting site.. except for the fact i'm totally hopeless at patterns ...

lucykate · 04/02/2008 12:54

meri, gm, and dizzy - right, i have a little problem, dd is off school today and i'm not sure she'll be going in tomorrow, she has a bit of impetigo, see here

she's totally fine in herself and it is dried up, but i need to ask, would any of you have any objections to me bringing her with me?, i'm not sure what to do, the doc thinks she's ok to go to school, the school are ok if that is what the doc says, but nhs direct says to exclude for 48 hours, so i'm all confused

meridian · 04/02/2008 12:59

lk- as long as the scabs are dried up it should be ok right? i'm sure at any time there are lods of kids at ikea with it... see what its like in the morning.. but if you say its dried up much like chickenpox... maybe see what its like in the morning..

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 13:10

I'm fine with it. Poor little thing, it's horrid, isn't it? I remember my friend's DD having it and as long as it was dry it was fine. These days schools and docs have to be over safe...just in case you do something stupid like sue them!!!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 04/02/2008 13:30

LUCYKATE - i have answered your impetigo post in my official capacity!!!

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 13:42

hoorah to have a medical crafter in our midsts
So we'll have the other mini LK with us tomorrow? How fun. She can be chief babysitter in charge of smaller sibling and other youngsters!

lucykate · 04/02/2008 13:49

thanks vv, have just read your post. dh thinks she should go to school, seems daft to keep her off for a pink patch on her cheek, i think i'll decide in the morning and see if the cream has started having any effect.

looks like no crafting for me today, have done 3 loads of washing already, bedding, towels, all needed doing in case of any re-infection now that she's being treated

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 13:58

LK - I have finished (it took me 3 gos to spell finished just then!!!) your PIF, whoo!
Now I am going to wring my hands nervously for the rest of the day until I give it to you, and then wring my hands all day tomorrow, and probably forever hoping you like it . Typically it had to be YOU that got a PIF, not someone I would never have to see or talk to ever again!!!

Dingle · 04/02/2008 14:41

Ooooo...GM!!!!! I have already printed off that eggy pattern and was next on my list to knit after my little knitted..er animal thingy!!!

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 14:46

Isn't it lovely? And apparently dunelm mill has loads of Rowan cotton yarn going cheap (why do I know this?), perfect egg yarn!!! I love them, I love littecottonrabbits anyway, I try every time she updates to get anything from her shop, and fail each time

Whizzz · 04/02/2008 14:48

Hi all, MNHQ finally deleted 'The' thread, together with the message "As a rule it?s best to stick to selling stuff on the for sale boards please", so thought I'd pass the message on. So no more craft clearouts on A&C!

Personally I don't think that's the way to go - but hey, I'm not going to suggest anything this time , nor am I going to post anything on the other 'crafty sale' type threads that are on here.

Can we post on the Blog if we have things to pass on maybe ??

OP posts:
Nbg · 04/02/2008 14:50

Theres loads of brillaint stuff going on at the minute isnt there.

Lk, hope your dd is ok. Impetigo is rotten.

Tilly, I love the painting. In fact when we move dd into her new room sometime this year I may contact you about one if thats ok?

Fubsy, like the look of the hottie cover.

Meri, again gorgeous bracelets. I love the green and purple together.
Have you thought of doing matching necklaces?
I was pricing up doing one in Red Carnelian faceted beads but it was a bit expensive.

Well I had a great day yesterday bonding with the sewing machine and I am pleased to report that it now respects me and does as its told
Soooo this is what I got up to yesterday

Nbg · 04/02/2008 14:51

Whizzz, i thats a good idea for the blog.
In fact I do have some bugle and seed beads that I never use and would be happy to send on to you if you like?

Gingermonkey · 04/02/2008 14:57

Nbg - wow!!!!! She's great!

Whizzz · 04/02/2008 14:57

ooooooooo beads
Happy to swap for somthing (am I allowed to say that now.........?????? Maybe not, I might get beaten up!)

OP posts:
Nbg · 04/02/2008 15:07

sssssshh whizzz

No you dont have to swap its just they're sat in box doing nothing and I know you like the little beads

Have you got my email address? If so send me your address and I'll post them this week.

Nbg · 04/02/2008 15:10

Oh and thanks GM

Honestly you really did inspire me to do it.

Nbg · 04/02/2008 15:19

Oh i remember what I wanted to ask.
For those of you who m,ake softies etc, what stuffing do you use, where do you buy it from and how much do you pay?

I've just finished a 450g bag of Habico polyester stuffing that cost £2.99.
I was looking on ebay a while ago and it seemed that I couldnt buy any cheaper than that, plus the postage was a bit expensive.
