New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

ohh GM I want to go there! looks lovely.. perhaps we should all pitch in an open a mumsnet crafters studio?

Nbg · 02/02/2008 10:02

Problem is, we'd all be fighting over it

When I was little I used to dream of owning one of the buildings in York selling my own clothes with its own studio.

Dingle · 02/02/2008 12:04

Ooooo...I have won a competition with one of my Valentine's Cards!!

Given me a much needed boost!!!

Jumps around the room in delight!!

THUD!! THUD!! THUD!!

meridian · 02/02/2008 12:08

well done dingle... but we all knew your stuff was georgeous!

Whizzz · 02/02/2008 13:29

Right - well I was in the mood for a day of crafting before getting dragged into the For Sale hoo-haa for selling my 2nd hand Sizzix stuff on A&C. Now to be honest I am just p*ssed off with it all & have requested that my thread is deleted by MNHQ. To be honest, I didn't think there was any more interest in it until someone asked me if I had stuff left the other day & hence bumped it back up the board.

Anyway before all that I did manage to make this Banded Agate necklace, the colours haven't come out too well on the pic - the small beads do look more browny than grey in RL & sort of match the larger bead.

and well done Dingle ! Your cards are always gorgeous

Meri, Nbg - can you imagine us?! We'd be terrible!!! None of us would get anything done because we'd be chatting and drinking coffee (Meri - the coffee was good too, so you'd be fine!!! )

Nbg · 02/02/2008 15:38

lol ginger

Whizzz, whats the problem with you selling your Sizzix?

And well done Dingle!!!!!

Champs · 02/02/2008 15:56

well done dingle!!

whizzz, cool necklace. as for the sale thread, i hope we can still offer each others unwanted craft items, i guess as someone else says... we have our blog now

vInTaGeVioLeT · 02/02/2008 16:02

MERIDIAN HELP - i just accidently deleted the links section on the new blog - i'm sooooooo sorry but i don't know how to put it right - please can you do it - again i'm sorry and shouldn't be allowed to touch techy things

lucykate · 02/02/2008 16:06

just a quickie, dh has been looking after the dc's today so house is a mess, just home from julie arkell workshop, it was FAB!!!, lovely lady, took some photo's to blog with later

Whizzz · 02/02/2008 16:40

Well I calmed myself down with some stringing & came up with a Multi strand necklace and some very frosty looking icicle earrings

As for the Sizzix thread - it seems some Mners likened posting craft things for sale in the A&C topics to swamping the For Sale board with chat threads, traders & prams
I assume this means we can't list anything on here for swaps/sales to other A&Cers for fear of upsetting people (unless MN comes up with a ruling)

OP posts:
Nbg · 02/02/2008 17:01

Whizzz you must have loads of time and patience to use those seed beeds
They make me dizzy lol.

Vintage you numpty I did the links this morning lol.
Didnt take 2 mins though so if no one else puts them back I'll do it later.

LK, glad to hear the workshop was good. Cant wait to see some pics.

I've just bought some jewellery bits so next week I will have some things to do

Champs · 02/02/2008 17:15

lolol @vintage .... step away from the blog

LK, glad you had a fabby time, cant wait to see piccies.

well done whizzz i agree, soooo much patience to use those beads. i love the icicle earings too .... dont get mad... get crafting

Whizzz · 02/02/2008 17:28

No I am still a bit cross to be honest. I just wish the damn thread would be deleted. Never want to hear the word Sizzix again (and I loved that machine sooooo much )

The irony of it is I suppose that I was the one trying to warn us crafters about perceived trading !

I guess the 'buttons' thread will have to be pulled too?? I think Lapins view of the For Sale uproar is different from my take on it?

Anyway I still have some dies left and if anyone wants them you know where I am [wink}

see, I can say that on A&C

Can we set up a swaps/sale corner on the blog?

OP posts:
vInTaGeVioLeT · 02/02/2008 17:32

steps up to receive the numpty award of the week

can some one link my blog too - i dare not!!!
maximumrabbitdesigns.blogspot.com/ under the name of vInTaGe VioLeT thankyou thankyou

Nbg · 02/02/2008 17:37

I'll do it vintage

Whizzz, my friends sister sells sizzix die cut thingys (does that make sense?) I'll ask her if she wants it.

vInTaGeVioLeT · 02/02/2008 17:51

thankyou NBG

well done to dingle let's see the winning card then!

lucykate · 02/02/2008 17:52

oh no, what have i missed?, sounds like the buying/selling thing has flared up will sit down and catch up later, i think it was only a matter of time, with the issue being debated so much atm, until the a&c board got dragged into it all

Whizzz · 02/02/2008 18:16

I'm not sure why I have been singled out over anyone else who has sold/swapped things on here but now I am mightily pissed off with it all. So much for wanting to sell things to people I actually feel I can trust.
I have emailed MNHQ to see what their take is on it.

I am rapidly going off MN, it's not the place it once was.

OP posts:
vInTaGeVioLeT · 02/02/2008 18:37

i feel bad now 'cause my thread's not far behind yours and it could've just've easily been me they'd pounced on - it does seem littlelapin wants to have the last word and has an almighty bee in her bonnet

i agree that lately mn seems a very arguementative place - i'm normally very placid but have been caught up in bickering a few times lately - i suppose the best thing to do is just walk away and ignore it

lapinindetention · 02/02/2008 18:41

Do feel free to talk about me . And don't bother replying, it's been made clear I'm intruding on "your" board, I shan't return.

meridian · 02/02/2008 19:06

damn go out for a few hours and all hell breaks loose... trying to catch up and read all the posts...

Vintage dont worry about it it will get sorted...

whizzz- love the ear rings and necklace... and sorry to hear about all the hullabaloo over you erm S word.

I must say that for the most part I have been staying in the warm cocoon of the crafts threads and not venturing much out into the other areas.... shall we do a weekly sale item on the blog? I know you can set up an etsy shop as a seller of crafts materials ( vintageviolet an idea if you have much )

lk- glad you had a fun day!

NBG-- I have been looking at all the lovely beads from the sellers on etsy... ohh boy there goes the little bit of money from my 3 sales... it will be woth it though

Nbg · 02/02/2008 20:21

Oh blimey

Gingermonkey · 02/02/2008 21:48

I don't like to venture out of my safety zone

On a cheery note - who's looking forward to Swedish Crafts Day? I AM!!!!

LK - I am still v about your workshop today, I bet it was fab!!!
