New Year & a New thread - post what you hope to start/finish this week!

I have bought lots of fabby gemstones & I want to try & make some different types of jewellery, different ways of stringing etc.

DH also bought me some rainbow fluorite & I want to make myself a necklace & bracelet, although am still pondering what style I fancy!

(& my bog is sadly neglected, I must try harder!)

OP posts:
Fubsy · 17/01/2008 11:39

Still here

Dingle · 17/01/2008 11:41

LOL...shoo Fusby..shoo!!

Nbg · 17/01/2008 12:29

Maxi, i love your cards. I'm also sat here laughing at your pg tips monkey

Tilly, the new huggly is gorgeous. Love the fabric too.

Ginger, you do realise that Ethan won't be having the pressie don't you

Dior, love the pressie for your sister too. That frame really sets it off.

Meri, i really like that bracelet. Wish you'd have made it before because i could have got it for my mums b'day last week.
There is mothers day though.......

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary and hilariously we are going ice skating tonight.
I say hilariously because dh had his vasectomy on friday last week and he is still aching a bit lol.

God I'm evil

Gingermonkey · 17/01/2008 13:03

Nbg, now I thought of this already when I said I wanted to send Ethan a prezzie, so to prevent you from stealing it I made him something you can't possibly steal (and if you do you are a very peculiar lady ). I hope you like it/find it useful/aren't disappointed
Could I find a post office that was open yesterday? Nope, so I sent the prezzie today and (royal mail willing) it'll be there tomorrow.

LOL Fubsy, I need to spend more time away from the computer and more time on the sewing machine. I'm supposed to have a wholesale order, but being lazy I can't be bothered to go to the shop and find out exactly what they want (so I'll have a complete panic when I do go in and they want it all in a week). I've decided I don't want to do wholesale, I just want to potter about and do things at my own snail speed and not have any pressure to get them done (not a very good businesswoman, am I?)

Nbg · 17/01/2008 13:10

I've updated my blog here with my current projects.

Nbg · 17/01/2008 13:11

Oh dash it ginger

meridian · 17/01/2008 13:17

Dior- your bracelets are ready! off to the library now before DS falls asleep out of boardom.

GM- have put a little blurb about you on my blog..

but I'm feeling rather rubbish now with a snuffly cold so going to go pop some pills and whimper a bit.

Dingle · 17/01/2008 13:35

For this week:
make another 10 xmas embellies - done made up 31 little reindeer
make another 10 cards for stock - only 3 so far

then work on my list

make a boys 13th birthday card! done
make a 19th Birthday card done
make a birthday card for BIL
make x1 Feb Birthday club card
make DH valentine's card
make a girls 11th birthday card
make SIL birthday card

Goodness - I am not getting far this week! I have got a lot on my mind..which, for someone with only one active brain cell left...is hard work!

Made 2 cards today...here

Gingermonkey · 17/01/2008 14:22

nbg
Thank you Meridian, you're too kind!

My blooming cat is trying to eat my cake. Grrr!!!

Dingle - I am constantly amazed by the amount of cards you produce in a week, if they were all rubbish I'd nod and say to myself 'well, what a pile of poo', but they are all so amazing - do you sleep at all? Are your children real, or have you actually invented them? Or do they live in the cupboard and are thrown scraps occasionally? [baffled emoticon]

Dingle · 17/01/2008 15:47

LOL, GM!! Yes my babies are deffo real, DS has just started netball today and will get home a bit later! That is giving me 30minutes to work with DD on her OT or her reading without any interuptions from DS!!

Unfortunately it's DD and her educational issues that is a big part of my poor overstretched brain cell! Her first Statementing Annual Review is looming!

I suppose that's why I have started to dedicate a section of the day for me!

Right - kettle on - off to find the Jolly Phonics and the biscuits!!

Gingermonkey · 17/01/2008 16:04

Have fun with the phonics, Dingle (I used to hate it when DD brought phonics home with her - it'd confuse me...but that doesn't take much TBH!)

Tillyboo · 17/01/2008 16:26

Just got home from school run and we got caught in an horrendous hail storm and then the most amazing rainbow. How weird is all this strange weather lately ....

I've just visited the links (hope I haven't missed anyone out ??) and left some comments.

I know it's been said before but what a talented lot on here.

Nearly finished another 'Huggly' so will post when I have uncovered dd's face from underneath the chocolate she has just noshed.

Second thoughts, I may just lick it off. Mmmmm chocolate !

Tillyboo · 17/01/2008 17:11

Updated blog with latest 'Huggly'.

The weather has been so crap today that I didn't have the temptation to leave the house so I've been pretty focussed today. I'm really chuffed with this one.

lucykate · 17/01/2008 21:13

GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT, GUESS WHAT!!!

look, i'm using capitals it's so exciting

dd is starting her next lot of saturday art club classes this weekend at the local art gallery, an envelope came through the door this morning with details about the projects they are doing and all the other courses that are being run.

i spotted there is a day workshop with JULIE ARKELL!!!!, here, in two weeks time. rang up, thinking, i've got no chance of getting on it, but, they had one place left, yipee!!!!

so, saturday 2nd february, i'm spending the day with julie (mad woman, but bl*y good at what she does) arkell

Gingermonkey · 17/01/2008 21:19

TB, you should be pleased, he's lovely.

I have been out at a play centre today with DS, his girlfriend and her sister, but I have been cutting out new softies this evening, sat on the kitchen floor with the blooming cat attacking the scissors (one day he's going to get his whiskers snipped off).
I still have a quarter of victoria sponge left, and just under half a chocolate cake, so time for the kettle to go on, I think! Hopefully (if I get my finger pulled out) I'll have lots to show everyone tomorrow. Might have to have another computer turned off day.

meridian · 17/01/2008 21:20

tilly- commented on your cute huggly...

I've been good today too.. just done a second post on my blog... here

so today i have
2x multi strand garnet chip bracelets for Dior
plus 3 other bracelets on the blog (will list them tommorow)
added 2 items to the shop and knitted half a java jacket..

i jsut wish the weather was better... blah..

suzi2 · 17/01/2008 21:23

Finally finished my bracelet and I'm very pleased with it. I think I need to get some new pliers if I'm going to be doing this often as I couldn't sand the ones I have down enough and they marked some of the silver (until I discovered masking tape over them!).

Anyway, some piccies here

jeangenie · 17/01/2008 21:28

hey LK - that's fab - I met her at the knitting and stitching show - she is quite odd (in a great way) and her creations are even better in the flesh

but, tell me more about these art club classes? I am considering (very seriously) jacking in some of my days in the office job that bores me rigid in order to set something like that up
see this thread
my enthusiasm is high right now so I need to capitalise, could you email me with all possible details (I know, I'm cheeky!) if you wouldn't mind

lucykate · 17/01/2008 21:41

suzi - that is a wonderful bracelet.
LK - wow, how fantastic, I'm very , her work is gorgeous, and I like how she is a bit barmy - it gives me hope for the future (I want to be like her or, my fave crazy lady ever, Vivienne Westwood - I'm going to be a crazy old biddy with cats and a despairing DH! )

jeangenie · 18/01/2008 13:30

funnily enough when my sister saw julie she remarked upon her similarity to vivienne westwood!

suzi - yes, bracelet is amazing - can't believe the work that must have gone in

LK - thanks for your email - Am sure I'll be back with more random questions...

meridian · 18/01/2008 14:35

dior- have posted your bracelets out, hopefully they should be with you monday. thanks again for odering them, it made me feel worth something to have somone want something that I made, that you ordered it and bought it and that maybe I am worth more than I give myself credit for. I like being a SAHM but at the same time its nice to know that I can do something beyond cooking well and keeping a somewhat hapahazardly tidy house...

haveing arguments with my connection at the moment so have got FA done today,
