I don't know what's going on but this is the third post I've tried. If this fails I'm going to give up.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the old thread for some reason, my laptop is doing funny things so maybe it's at my end?

Anyway, I cannot see what you all have achieved so far this week but here is my blog with what I have done or you can have a peep in my profile but the pictures are quite diddy

have just posted a comment for you, no problems. maybe when she tried, the blogger server was down, i know that happens sometimes, when i've not even been able to get on my own blog.

jeangenie · 07/12/2007 22:49

thanks LKAATTMP - she said it was that she couldn't find a way to leave a non-google account comment - but I thought I had it set up to allow that. Nevermind! Thank You

am sat here trying to make 8 xmas tree bags from an old cot sheet but have had a glass of wine and god only knows what will happen!

2sugars · 08/12/2007 08:23

Your blog looks fab JG - who oversaw the kitchen model of you? Tell me how to leave a message and I'll do so. (As you can probaby tell, not completely au fait with the blogging phenomina!!!)

Stuff I'm after is cinnamon sticks - the cost a small fortune from our local florist, and the nice lady who sold me some at cost last year has left .

Do you think if I start my cinnamon/orange/bay swags today (I'm hoping to make 10) the bay will be all shrivelled by next Saturday? They're supposed to look a bit wizened, but they do look their best when the bay is fresh.

jeangenie · 08/12/2007 08:43

Hi 2sugars - why don't you do all the rest of the bags and just put the bay in at the last minute if you are worried about it shrivelling?

DH oversaw the kitchen model - in fact afterwards they admitted he had done most of it (what strange activities they get up to when I am away!) DD1 did make the footballing (?) one all on her own though.

to leave a comment you just click on the little link at the end of the post that says "1 comments" - type in a comment and choose anonymous or nickname - thanks

had a fab time at Lincoln Christmas Market not sure what crafting will get done today, Have mushroom soup to make, and a bag of apples that wont turn into pie by its self. Probably will just do some kiddie crafts with ds, for as long as he can sit still that is. and prepare for tommrow which i have cristened X-mas blitz day, as the tree will go up, once i make DH venture back into the spider (imaginary) infested attic
in search of the tree stand that has gone AWOL and get all the decs up and do the orange slice thing. I will attempt to do some sketching as well but my sketch book is full so sadly i must go purchase a new one.

oh and i might do some knitting

Tillyboo · 09/12/2007 18:27

TB, I had my last one of the year today too. It was ok, (well, pretty good) I made about £80, so I was pleased with that. But I was more pleased with my purchases...I'm going to take pics tomorrow to blog. DH said everything I bought was rubbish, but he's a fool, ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!
Sorry to hear your day wasn't so goo - I had a school fair on friday, and it was rubbish. I have decided school fairs are to be avoided at all costs! Have a wonderful few days at center parcs - get rested!!!

pantoinghousewife · 09/12/2007 19:52

Ladies, you're all so busy, you're putting me to shame!. I'm still doing loads of beanies for babies that some mums up the school wanted (10 of them) and er... that's it, I haven't even blogged for a month. I have got my stash all tidied and sorted now though, much to dd's delight. She's now fascinated by my wool and fabric boxes!
I may crochet some stars to go on the christmas tree this week, so watch this space.
Tilly, your table looks great, can't understand why it wasn't a hit. And GM, fantastic what a good day for you.

Merrydian · 09/12/2007 20:06

have made first attempt at dried oranges it went ok burnt a few and need to get some nicer ribbon to make ornaments out of it but all in all quite a fun activity, ds even helped a bit before getting boared.

Tillyboo · 09/12/2007 21:09

GM, well done you. I have decided the same too - avoid all school fairs, they are just too unpredictable.

Did you look into the toy safety issue? I have been doing a bit of investigation and you need product liability insurance etc if you are going to sell items that could be deemed as toys. It's all very confusing but I thought I'd speak to the Trading Standards and Business Link people to get some accurate advice.

Oh, my head urts !

Meridian - I've left you a note on your blog

Panto - Crochet stars sound lovely - especially if with twinkly wool ?

pantoinghousewife · 09/12/2007 21:11

Yes, I have a longstanding love affair with the cheap lurex shininess of Twilleys goldfingering that goes right back to childhood. So I will be fulfilling a childhood dream.

Tillyboo · 09/12/2007 21:15

Fab can't wait to see them !

jeangenie · 10/12/2007 09:34

I did the xmas crafting afternoon with DD1 and her pals and it was a lot of fun
this week I will:
finish a tea cosy for my friend for xmas
finish the xmas tree bags which I am now going to use as wrapping
make another amy butler cat cosy
start on a rice pillow for my sister for xmas
maybe get around to making some felt mice

have left notes on blogs...

Gingermonkey · 10/12/2007 11:07

Dressedup - excellent news! Well done!

JG - I made a rice/lavender pillow on friday evening. It was very easy and it works (I put it in the microwave for 30 second intervals whilst hiding in case it blew up!). Maybe one of these days I'll actually take some pics.

jeangenie · 10/12/2007 11:30

oh do take some pics GM - did you follow an online tutorial or make it up yourself?

Gingermonkey · 10/12/2007 12:36

I made it up myself (and therefore am very impressed because I'm not very good at sewing in straight lines )

Gingermonkey · 10/12/2007 13:07

JG - there you go. Inside the bag is a seperate pillow shape filled with half rice, half lavender. I wanted to make a proper cushion/pillow shape but the sack shape in linen was my friend's request. I have made another (slightly smaller) pillow shape and I'm going to make a patchwork/pieced cover for that one.

Gingermonkey · 10/12/2007 13:41

JG - the lavender is from ebay, search under dreid lavender and I bought the french stuff (which is stronger).

Gingermonkey · 10/12/2007 13:41

maybe search under DRIED rather than DREID, eh?

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 10/12/2007 13:43

Ooh hello all.

Did i hear someone say i won a little prizey wizey???
Will CAT you GW. Thank you.

Well considering I gave birth on Thursday it hasnt stopped me from making bits!
I've gone into overdrive with felt lol and made all sorts.
I completed a doll for dd which I'm really quite pleased with and even better still, she loves it!
I then made a dress for it on Saturday and its pink so dd thinks its utterly marvellous now
Yesterday I made one of those Elf shoes that was on one of the blogs. I cant remember which one it was though so I ended up making it from memory.
I've also started to make another doll but the only felt I had left was green and red so its going to be a christmas fairy elf????

I'll take some pics and put them on my profile but all you pro's, dont laugh. My sewing skills are not fantastic

LUCYKateallthemincepies · 10/12/2007 14:48

good grief nbg, shouldn't you still be sitting on an inflatable cushion or something

put the felt away and have a rest >>passes nbg a big slice of cake

Nbgdoesnthaveachristmasname · 10/12/2007 15:08

lol

its amazing what a home birth and no stitches can do for you

I have to say I'm finding all this crafting very relaxing.
I'm not actually doing it for any reason but its a lovely hobby to have.

Cake accepted though and troughed immeadiately

WeWhizzzYouAMerryXmas · 10/12/2007 15:23

My main challenge was to tidy up by beady bits - hence the separate thread about getting rid of some card making bits !

I've had lots on interest & some sales of my stuff at work, which is great. AFter Christmas, I want to 're-engineer' some of my stuff that I've had hanging round for a while - ie take it to bits & make into something else!

I also still need to make GMs dino a collar so that my friends DD has a bracelet as well as a lovely pink & lilac Dino
