Weekly Challenge Thread (New one, can't find old one ????)

Tillyboo · 11/10/2007 17:51

I don't know what's going on but this is the third post I've tried. If this fails I'm going to give up.

Anyway, I can't seem to find the old thread for some reason, my laptop is doing funny things so maybe it's at my end?

Anyway, I cannot see what you all have achieved so far this week but here is my blog with what I have done or you can have a peep in my profile but the pictures are quite diddy

GW, I've just spat my cuppa out ! How funny, I had to look twice before I read your text.

You naughty, naughty crafter you !

I reckon you may have a market for these, nudge, nudge, wink wink

OP posts:
Whizzz · 19/11/2007 16:10

GM - have mailed you & left a comment on your blog - the dino is lovely !!

Way-hay - one pressie down, 6 million more to go!

Meridian · 19/11/2007 16:19

Ive managed a tiny bit of knitting today.. oh and made soem peanut butter cookies but other than that not got a damn thing done.

perhaps we need a crafters circle real life get together, at least those in the midlands area. i just wish a was a busier crafter. right best go make sure dh hasn't died on the sofa (suffering the aftermath of a migraine bless)

lucykate · 19/11/2007 16:25

tb- 'pif' is pay it forward, its a blog scheme where, when you join, you agree to send the first 3 people who sign up for it via your blog something you've made in return for then agreeing to do the same, it's a bit like a entering into worldwide swap. almost!.

hey, meridian, would be really great to organise a meet up wouldn't it, you are in the midlands too.

we need to find a craft center or fabric shop (with a cafe that sells cake, obviously ) to meet at

Meridian · 19/11/2007 16:33

lucykate- I wouldn't know where to go though, except regular coffee shops, which would work too but obviously we coulden't by crafty things just coffees, but i'm happy with jsut coffee and cake. not sure where the most cental meeting place would be. Could do a meeting in Derby with the new mall and all could do shopping first then decend upon the unwitting baristas at starbucks or neros or gloria jeans. not that I have thought that much about it.

Nbg · 19/11/2007 16:37

The Owl is fab LK. I've left a really imaginative suggestion for a name .

GW, at your stuff

I am very happy as I've just got an order from one of the pre school mums.
Hurrrah!!!!

Just need to make it before my baby is due next wednesday, lol.

Gingermonkey · 19/11/2007 17:51

I'm in west yorks, so it's not that far to the midlands!

Meridian, right now the dinos and the new bunnies/cat are sat in the bag, and I was thinking the same thing to myself, I could fill it up and give it away for chrimbo.

Tillyboo · 19/11/2007 18:15

Anyone in/ close to Berkshire or Berks/ Hants border ????

Or am I 'Billy No Mates' down South ??

OP posts:
Nbg · 19/11/2007 18:19

I'm in North Yorks so even further away from you all.

I used to live where you do GM.

Dingle · 19/11/2007 18:41

I am in deeepest, daaarkest Kent- which seems to be a bit of a crafter's no-man land!!

I am off to look at these blogs!!!

Nbg, I remember you saying before now you've jogged by fish like memory! Are you up Ripon way now? You'll have to come for a cup of tea next time you are visiting the family (they're still round here, aren't they?)....especially if you've had the baby, I am very broody and keep hoping I accidently on purpose fall PG (despite having a coil...but they're not 100% reliable, are they? Especially when I keep cancelling my coil check )
Do you know what flavour baby you're having, or is it a surprise?

Tillyboo · 19/11/2007 19:44

Still no fellow Berkshire babes then ....

Did I mention I've had a commission for 22 of my small bunnies ? Well, I've made the first one here.

I have to make 11 'for girls' bunnies, 8 'for boys' bunnies, and 4 for 'unknown flavours'.
The one on my blog is for an 'unknown flavour'.
Love the term GM.

I managed to make him today despite dd having an awful cold, bless her she's full of it and now has a runny eye.
We go to Centre Parcs on the 9th Dec so I've got my work cut out. Help !

OP posts:
Gingermonkey · 19/11/2007 20:12

TB, think your DD might have sneezed all the way up here - DS has a streaming nose, a temperature, and a very runny bum too. Poor little man, he was actually miserable today and he isn't normally. He has a little halo normally.

Think you're alone in Berkshire!

lucykate · 19/11/2007 21:39

i need a map, i think i'm about half way between meridian and dior. used to live not too far away from whizzz until we moved last year, but my family are still in the north west

Meridian · 19/11/2007 21:52

back from aquaaerobics, and have just mannaged to sit down and write a new drabble to post on my very very neglected writing blog. not exactly crafts related but I wrote something and am happy with that.

well done tillyboo for the big comission!

Tillyboo · 19/11/2007 21:58

Meridian - I used to do Aquaaerobics with my mum. I have never laughed so much as my mum had a habit of floating off to the deep end ... and then during one of the kicking exercises I broke her toe

OP posts:
Meridian · 19/11/2007 22:16

tillyboo-- that awful! there are two diffrent instructors there is the good one that goes nice and slow on a monday, and then there is the insane one that does the friday night classes, she goes way to fast and all everyone does in the class is bumble around and laugh hysterically because we can't keep up.

Nbg · 20/11/2007 10:08

GM, I'm Northallerton so just a spit from Ripon really. Ripon is beautiful.
Would be lovely to meet you. Baby is another boy. DD and I will be ganged up on!

Tillyboo, well done on the comission. 22 Bunnies is alot
I keep looking at your stall picture on your blog and it really did look fab.

I came across a blog that LucyKate had a link to called allsorts and this particular lady had made some gorgeous felt elf shoes.
They are amazing.
So I'm going to get some fabric and have a go
Not quite jewellery but these are too good not to try.

lucykate · 20/11/2007 13:37

can i plug this please?

incywincy peg doll competition

all info needed should be on that page if anyone is interested.

also, i have an idea for a 'great british blog fabric swap' after christmas, good idea/bad idea??, what do you think?. could be a way of trimming down a fabric stash of stuff that doesn't inspire you for stuff that does, i was thinking maybe asking people to put together a bundle maybe 3 (or more) and i could match everyone that signs up for it with a swap partner. wanted to stick with the uk for now to keep postage cost down.

lucykate · 20/11/2007 13:38

oops, missed a bit out -

a bundle of 3 fat quarters is what i meant to put (cold fingers, too tight to put heating on yet!)

Meridian · 20/11/2007 15:18

lucykate- never made a peg doll before (well made a peg raindeer at school when i was 6) but they look really cute, and a quick challenge if you already have wooden pegs... somehow i don't think my plastic ones would work very well.
