I have been a poster here for seven years, my first post was asking for help after a DX on DS1 regarding medication, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who took the time to respond and give advice and share stories.
I remember there being a lot of jokes and support, one poster who lost family in 9/11 was an inspiration and at any time day or night there was someone about for a chat, it made night feed more fun.

Yes there were times when people "fell out" this is life, and the odd nut job who tried to convince people that 4 times the amount of calpol was safe but on the whole it was a nice place to be, however just lately (mostly since AIBU was added) it seems people are getting really nasty.

No longer can you have a good debate with out the usual stupidness and name calling, if you question immigration there is no debate you just get called racist, people with problems get called troll, the term Jog on is used daily as is daily mail reader, and I ask myself when did this site become a playground with the childish name calling, where are all the grown up, funny, articulate women who you could have a grown up discussions with.

It is so boring seeing the same old faces spouting the same old crap lines.

I guess someone will say if I don't like it leave, and I just might do that as mumsnet is not the place it was

squeaks cotton wool into ears....

thanks Kimi!

cyb · 22/03/2010 21:05

I've had more of a larf on MN in the last few months that ever before. You get out what you put in IMVHO

daftpunk · 22/03/2010 21:07

EAP;

I have explained the reasons for my involvement with the BNP. Immigration in this country has spiraled out of all control....the BNP were the only party prepared to talk about that problem..(apart from UKIP)..because of them immigration has hardly been out of the news and that's a good thing....admitting you support some BNP opinions does not make you a racist....but some people just love to verbally abuse me...makes them feel superior maybe..?

Also, I am not homophobic just because I don't think homosexuals are our saviour...

TiggyD · 22/03/2010 21:09

"Also, I am not homophobic just because I don't think homosexuals are our saviour..."

But Jesus was gay, surely?

daftpunk · 22/03/2010 21:09

Who is SuSylvester...? and is she pissed..?

ptangyangkipperbang · 22/03/2010 21:11

Did the poster with 3 boys go on to have a 4th? SirTophamHat - or something like that!

Quattrocento · 22/03/2010 21:11

I love the idea that engaging with someone who votes BNP is going to persuade them of the error of their ways.

For an encore, would you try to convert a Jehovah's Witness to Islam?

TurnOutTheLight · 22/03/2010 21:12

Now you see tiggyD proves a point, straight in with the name calling, when all I had done was point out same ole same ole.

I think love you got a little bit out of your depth so you want it to be called a joke thread.

But carry on name calling it help.

Yes there are some lovely wonderful people on here, but there are some who no matter what pitch up and spout the same crap time after time,
If someone comes to a thread with a racist/homophobic view calling them names does not help surely, people who want to discuss an issue often give up as the silliness of people repeating racist/daily mail reader/jog on is just tiresome.

OP posts:
EggyAllenPoe · 22/03/2010 21:13

you see DP, I'm glad you can say that here. If someone reports your post and it gets removed, we all loose our right to spout crap.

MorrisZapp · 22/03/2010 21:13

I read the Guardian and I feel very strongly that homosexuals are our saviour.

AnyFucker · 22/03/2010 21:14

dp...you have to ask that question ?

you are not so clever as I thought you were...

Quattrocento · 22/03/2010 21:14

The only thing I know about Su is that she has a big thing about radishes. Salted ones especially. I would have suspected her of liking fishy things more than radishes but apparently radishes are what do it for her.

Amapoleon · 22/03/2010 21:14

That's the one Ptangy!

notnowbernard · 22/03/2010 21:14

Never seen "jog on" in nearly 3 yrs on MN

Shame, I think it's a great term of address

PavlovtheCat · 22/03/2010 21:15

it is not what it was, it cannot possibly be though can it? people come and go, faces change, people have new experiences that make them change as people, as posters. We are not all robots, we are fluid and change as we grow, and MN reflects that.

Really don't see the point in moaning about what has passed, 7 years is a long time, do you really want to stay in one place, the same place you were 7 years ago? Harping back to the good ol days, which probably never really existed in the way you remember.

KimiGaveUpStarbucks4Lent · 22/03/2010 21:17

I can't hear a word I have cotton wool in my ears, speak up

SpringHeeledJack · 22/03/2010 21:18

Blimey, even I know who SuSylvester is and I've only bin here five minutes.

...And have "low intelligence" according to you, dp

'Ere, does anyone else remember mn in the old days, when the pages were longer?

or is it just me?

daftpunk · 22/03/2010 21:18

Anyfucker..

What question...?

AnyFucker · 22/03/2010 21:20

what shj is referring to, you plank

KimiGaveUpStarbucks4Lent · 22/03/2010 21:20

See's where this is going and inches towards the door......

runnybottom · 22/03/2010 21:22

Its not us, its you. I think maybe we should be on a break, OP.

I thought it was common knowledge that homosexuals were our saviours?

AnyFucker · 22/03/2010 21:22

never mind, dp

movin' on....

Rockbird · 22/03/2010 21:22

I don't know what sort of response you want. Are we to call all current members in, tuck our forelocks and bow down to the sort of discussion you crave? Things change. MN is obviously not where you want to be, I don't see the point of a thread telling everyone you're going. If you don't like it, then go. It's certainly not going to change to suit one poster.

daftpunk · 22/03/2010 21:24

Anyfucker..

are you talking to me in code..

y'know, like....the eagle has landed..?

SpringHeeledJack · 22/03/2010 21:24

ooh, I do like you Rockbird

you're shirty
