I have been a poster here for seven years, my first post was asking for help after a DX on DS1 regarding medication, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who took the time to respond and give advice and share stories.
I remember there being a lot of jokes and support, one poster who lost family in 9/11 was an inspiration and at any time day or night there was someone about for a chat, it made night feed more fun.

Yes there were times when people "fell out" this is life, and the odd nut job who tried to convince people that 4 times the amount of calpol was safe but on the whole it was a nice place to be, however just lately (mostly since AIBU was added) it seems people are getting really nasty.

No longer can you have a good debate with out the usual stupidness and name calling, if you question immigration there is no debate you just get called racist, people with problems get called troll, the term Jog on is used daily as is daily mail reader, and I ask myself when did this site become a playground with the childish name calling, where are all the grown up, funny, articulate women who you could have a grown up discussions with.

It is so boring seeing the same old faces spouting the same old crap lines.

I guess someone will say if I don't like it leave, and I just might do that as mumsnet is not the place it was

This thread is definitely like one of those magic eye picture thingies.

One minute you're looking at a standard 'fings aint wot they woz' nostalgia thread, then all of a sudden it warps into an immigration thread populated by John Wayne, Gina Lollabrigida and Pag doing her best Gadaffi impersonation while feeding seals.

A perfectly normal thread IMO.

to go back to the OP - yes, there are too many discussions which go like this:

OP puts forward opinion
another poster disagrees
OP defends opinion
other poster starts hurling personal insults

And people have started doing that stupid thing of cutting and pasting someone else's post and then adding one line of their own opinion, which makes threads hard to read, and annoying.

But I must admit, when I read the thread title ("fings aint what they used to be"), my first thought was Blimey, are the moldies back?

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/03/2010 22:07

Anyway, talking of the op, is she coming back?

Hellooo low ... low ... low ... [echo emoticon]

What do you think now you've had all this lovely attention? Have you changed your mind at all or do you stick with your original position?

Will you stay or will you go?

YANBU in a way, certain topics do spark certain types of poster and responses. However if its advice you want or a shoulder to cry on, AIBU is not always the thread to use. I have had so much support from people, on the m/c forum when i had a m/c, and others everyone has been ace on other forums, with fantastic advice. Recently a poster has had a problem with her d/s being bullied and posted on AIBU and the support and advice she got from posters was excellent, everyone was so supportive.
