I have been a poster here for seven years, my first post was asking for help after a DX on DS1 regarding medication, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who took the time to respond and give advice and share stories.
I remember there being a lot of jokes and support, one poster who lost family in 9/11 was an inspiration and at any time day or night there was someone about for a chat, it made night feed more fun.

Yes there were times when people "fell out" this is life, and the odd nut job who tried to convince people that 4 times the amount of calpol was safe but on the whole it was a nice place to be, however just lately (mostly since AIBU was added) it seems people are getting really nasty.

No longer can you have a good debate with out the usual stupidness and name calling, if you question immigration there is no debate you just get called racist, people with problems get called troll, the term Jog on is used daily as is daily mail reader, and I ask myself when did this site become a playground with the childish name calling, where are all the grown up, funny, articulate women who you could have a grown up discussions with.

It is so boring seeing the same old faces spouting the same old crap lines.

I guess someone will say if I don't like it leave, and I just might do that as mumsnet is not the place it was

I ..... a fair bit.
I even lol occasionally but dont abuse it.
Lol abusers though, they make me sick and ought to be castrated. And anyone who disagrees is a speeedo.

piprabbit · 23/03/2010 14:55

but I love a good ellipsis...
I have too many unfinished thoughts and often need to trail off into silence.

claw3 · 23/03/2010 14:58

I only ever lol if someone has actually made me lol. You should never lol at your own jokes.

I think MN should make this very clear in the rules.

bibbitybobbityhat · 23/03/2010 14:59

Lol at speedo!!!

Scardypants · 23/03/2010 15:03

Ok but will probably only manage to slightly limit .... and - use as I'm crap with punctuation generally so it gets me out having to think before I post which I really hate doing!!! lol!

JeremyVile · 23/03/2010 15:04

Oh god, I missed that - use was under fire... Im buggered!!!!!

lotster · 23/03/2010 15:07

Must chip in about the lol'ing. Always nauseates me for some reason. And don't get me started on 'LMAO' ughh!

Actually the sheer bad grammar of 'PMSL' gives me the irrits too. It's Myself, not My self - ergo, 'PML'

I'll bugger off and mutter to myself elsewhere now, obviously having a grumpy day...

MillyR · 23/03/2010 15:12

This is an ellipsis:

...

If you watch Mamma Mia, you will hear this explained a number of times.

Dot-dot-dot.

Not dot-dot, or dot-dot-dot-dot.

SpringHeeledJack · 23/03/2010 15:29

I love ...

MadameDefarge · 23/03/2010 15:31

I think speedo works marvellously in the context...them and those paediatricians all over the place....

SpringHeeledJack · 23/03/2010 15:34

what is speedo??

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 15:34

But I always thought it was

dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot
dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot
dah dah dah dah....
da-da da-da dah
dah dah dah dah.......
da-da da-da dah
I was cheated by you, since I don't know when
da-da da-da -dah

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 15:35

String up the fuckers

SpringHeeledJack · 23/03/2010 15:35

I am evidently one of those thick newbies generally lowering the tone of the forum

MadameDefarge · 23/03/2010 15:35

nothing apart from skimpy swimming gear, as far as I am aware....but a lovely malapropism given the context

For guidance on the number of dots in an ellipsis.

SpringHeeledJack · 23/03/2010 15:38

daftpunk · 23/03/2010 15:42

In your own time electro......

Emigrant · 23/03/2010 16:38

Hi daftpunk, Im a emigrant, I was wondering if you will talk to me?
I had to leave my home because of a war, have you ever seen a war daft?

Emigrant · 23/03/2010 17:02

Well daftpunk, when I was a little girl, and the bombs would go off, I would scream hysterical for hours. When I came here, if a car back fired I would fall to the ground because I thought it was gun shot or a bomb.
My father was in danger of being murdered so we moved.
My uncle was shot by the same people who wanted to murder my father, my uncle was machine gunned down on his doorstep.
They found 45 bullets in him.I was part of the group of people who cleaned pints and pints of his blood away.
I was only 13.
I still wake up screaming.
So daftpunk, I believe you should have freedom to speak, but you think people like me should not be here in this country.
But would you give me the freedom to speak here on MN if you could change the rules?

lotster · 23/03/2010 17:02

Unless you're leaving the country you're an immigrant

daftpunk · 23/03/2010 17:02

Yeah...I have actually....

Listen...don't tell anyone because I want to keep my RL identity a secret....but I'm really Boudica Queen of the Iceni...

our secret ok....

lotster · 23/03/2010 17:04

Ok well now I feel bad

But those two terms are often confused!

daftpunk · 23/03/2010 17:06

oh fuck are you being serious?...I thought you were a name-changer taking the piss..

It happens alot with me y'see..
