I have been a poster here for seven years, my first post was asking for help after a DX on DS1 regarding medication, I was overwhelmed by the amount of people who took the time to respond and give advice and share stories.
I remember there being a lot of jokes and support, one poster who lost family in 9/11 was an inspiration and at any time day or night there was someone about for a chat, it made night feed more fun.

Yes there were times when people "fell out" this is life, and the odd nut job who tried to convince people that 4 times the amount of calpol was safe but on the whole it was a nice place to be, however just lately (mostly since AIBU was added) it seems people are getting really nasty.

No longer can you have a good debate with out the usual stupidness and name calling, if you question immigration there is no debate you just get called racist, people with problems get called troll, the term Jog on is used daily as is daily mail reader, and I ask myself when did this site become a playground with the childish name calling, where are all the grown up, funny, articulate women who you could have a grown up discussions with.

It is so boring seeing the same old faces spouting the same old crap lines.

I guess someone will say if I don't like it leave, and I just might do that as mumsnet is not the place it was

Of course Mumsnet has changed. I agree with Gibbon, Paggy and Sausage (I know who you are my little sausage) BUT if you don't like it its time to shove up and make room for the people who still do like it. And maybe the newbies would have more fun on this site without lots of fingsaintwottheyusedtobe threads cluttering it up and making them feel bad about themselves.

Greensleeves · 23/03/2010 12:18

sometimes I think people perceive that MN has changed when in fact it is they who have changed

I've been here for a while and I've seen various ebbs and flows - and the big change when the mouldies fucked everything up for everybody - but MN still has the same essential flavour and character IMO

if it stayed rigidly the same it would die out

ToccataAndFudge · 23/03/2010 12:35

yes of course Beast you're totally right.

I'm just a self centrered, selfish, ungrateful moaning bitch

MadameDefarge · 23/03/2010 13:21

Beast, that was totally unnecessary and inappropriate.

I've been here a year. So I am still a newbie, I suppose. I don't particularly appreciate being made to feel like I am part of some big dumbing down process...

I get as frustrated as anyone when the brutal sentimentality of the unthinking swamp threads, but either engage or hide.

But if you would like me to jog on,just say the word!

electrofagz · 23/03/2010 13:30

Oh whatever is wrong with MN, it it still miles better than 'you-know-what - Mums' - have noticed a few hug emoticons creeping in though!

daftpunk · 23/03/2010 14:12

electro;

I've just read back over this thread [bored].....are you talking about me in your earlier posts...?

daftpunk · 23/03/2010 14:14

Because if you are...I'll happily explain democracy to you....you seem to have little grasp of it...

electrofagz · 23/03/2010 14:16

Go on then ....

MadameDefarge · 23/03/2010 14:26

I'm sorry electro, but to state you want certain posters banned for their ideologies is just not on. And extremely bad manners to single out one poster in particular.

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 14:29

would it be bad form to ask for posters to be banned for having really poor MN etiquette. Or being annoying. Or using CAPITALS too much - it makes my head hurt.

People shouldn't be allowed on style and beauty unless they have a profile pic. It is terrible wondering if you are taking style advice form someone dressed in a juicy couture tracksuit.

Can it just be me that bans people?

piprabbit · 23/03/2010 14:32

Would we all have to become pagclones?
Or would MN become an empty echoing place?

Scardypants · 23/03/2010 14:35

Agree MD

enjoy, bye

EggyAllenPoe · 23/03/2010 14:36

pag i assure you i have never worn a juicy couture anything,

though i am currently wearing maternity jeans that give me an enormous builders, my hair is unkempt, and i am wearing a very bobbly overfrump.

wasn't there some cake earlier this thread?

looking this crap, i think i ought to eat more.

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 14:38

Hmmm. That is an interesting question....

No. Not Pag clones. Too dull - although quite well dressed. But many would have difficulty with the whole no jeans or trousers thing. And the spelling would be awful. And all the agreeing with each other wouldn't work. But there would be quite a lot of snogging. And wine...

OK. Perhaps a democracy after all.

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 14:39

I will gladly take your style advice Eggy.

Tortington · 23/03/2010 14:39

ca we ban peopl who do this a lot!!!!
after each sentence!!!!

daftpunk · 23/03/2010 14:41

electro;

How about you explain democracy to me...?

Tell me why you think I should be banned from a parenting forum just because I happen to support a totally legal political party...

Why does that annoy you so much that you want me banned..?.....because wanting to shut someone up and ban them, just because they hold political views you don't like, isn't really my idea of democracy...

I don't really like liberals, they get on my nerves.... but I would never want them banned.

Scardypants · 23/03/2010 14:41

Oh fuck, I do that all the time!!!!!

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 14:41

YY Custy

MadameDefarge · 23/03/2010 14:42

Scardypants · 23/03/2010 14:44

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 14:45

So

excessive !!!!ers
those wearing velour tracksuits - especially if they have paid over £100 for them

see. MN looks better already

pagwatch · 23/03/2010 14:46

Hmmm

perhaps you could have a fixed oppertunity to .... every now and again. As long as it does not become excessive

piprabbit · 23/03/2010 14:47

Pagwatch for President.
How will you accessorise the giant gold epaulets on your presidential, dictator's jacket?
