As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Yes, indeedy, CJ and Elephants, it was Tennis Shoes, complete with authentically pushy tennis prodigy's Papa!

Unlike Ballet Shoes et al it gave me no desire to emulate the heroine - I think I've always thought much the best thing to do with a hard object hurtling towards you is to duck or run away.

Sorry, Elephants, I am still stumped but it sounds interesting, whatever it is!

Moomin, yes, I am! I actually saw the adaptation of that book at the National last week, thought i was very good. And thanks for reminding me about "watch this thread" - I did it for the last one and then totally forgot about it this time round I have never heard of Tennis Shoes - will have to look out for that one too.

As for your AIBU - well, it certainly sounds like it! Are you a regency buck?

Ok,Elephants - hooray for google,and your mum is not what she seems to be,is she. I don't think I've actually read this,despite its seeming so familiar - I think I may have read a synopsis at some point! I liked Girl meets Boy, same author, so perhaps it was there!
