AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

pollywollydoodle · 20/05/2010 22:09

so, peter pan? the water babies?

Poledra · 20/05/2010 22:34

Pogle was Tinkerbell from Peter Pan, polly. The link was to the pictures that were in the (falling-apart) copy of Peter Pan we had when I was little, and I guess I assumed that you would recognise them too

Yes, there is a rather nasty neighbour too, with his chavvy big car.......

pollywollydoodle · 20/05/2010 22:38

thanks pol...should have really...not very good at id'ing books tonight...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 21/05/2010 13:06

Not quite sure I've got the right book, Poledra. Would you be planning a mass drugging of the local wildlife, at all?

...Plus she used to be engaged to him, surely it's a bit off for him to be following her around all the time now we're married, even putting himself in danger for her?

Poledra · 21/05/2010 22:21

You're absolutely right, Elephants, I am the champion of the world (guess what DD1's bedtime story has been recently ).

Pogleswood · 22/05/2010 09:52

Morning everyone, but all I've got to post really is MCP...

pollywollydoodle · 22/05/2010 14:26

just donethis bought some more bags onto the raft....get shaking!

llandb · 23/05/2010 15:37

Mmm, ice-cream! (pulls out solar-powered freezer)

Hello all- not caught up at all at all...

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/05/2010 09:38

Morning, all!

MCP...

...I don't really care about him, but he gives me some nice presents...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 24/05/2010 13:33

Ohh good Poledra, how nice for you! That's cheered me up after my Great Tinkerbell Idiocy Incident.

What does he want from you, treacle?

...Who knows what he sees in her anyway? Great clumpy thing with her third-hand boots and faint odour of cheese. Still all the boys seem to want to take care of her. And me about to become a mother of eight!

pollywollydoodle · 24/05/2010 13:48

are you in ireland elephants?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 24/05/2010 14:13

...Where is this 'Ireland'? I come from Long Lake, but I've moved to be with my husband. It's tradition but it does make for a lonely life, barely allowed outside and with only my brothers and all my brothers-in-law for company...

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/05/2010 14:34

Ah - was she briefly engaged to your husband, Elephants? I think you'll find there's nothing to worry about, what with the size difference and all!

...I expect he wants to marry me or something. I don't really care what he wants though, I just like the attention...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 24/05/2010 15:18

...In that case I'd better hurry him off to defend her from the hiver, and tell him not to bother coming back if he fails!

Congratulations, Treacle, you get a pinch of Jolly Sailor and a wink from the ghost of Granny Aching. (I was Jeannie from Pratchett's "A Hatful of Sky" for anyone still in the dark)

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/05/2010 15:26

Aaw... I was hoping for some of Tiffany's famous Lancre Blue! But I suppose having something like Horace in the house would just be asking for trouble

...but perhaps the best part is telling my teacher all about my conquests. She's so disapproving...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 24/05/2010 16:14

Sorry, Treacle, perhaps I can throw in an hour of Oswald the tidy poltergeist to cheer you up?
So she's definitely not encouraging you to seduce anyone, then, treacle?

llandb · 24/05/2010 16:41

Pah... NIMCP!

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/05/2010 16:46

Ah thanks, I could definitely do with an Oswald in my life! Perhaps he could rearrange my kitchen cupboards for me?

...No, she thinks I'm frivolous and silly. But at least I'm not boring like her. Mind you, she does seem to be going out more often these days - I even saw her in a pink dress the other night!

pollywollydoodle · 24/05/2010 19:34

sits by llandb, harrumphs, slurps coffee and helps paddle on the other side as raft is going round in circles....

Pogleswood · 24/05/2010 20:33

Oh,now I've missed a Hatful of Sky! Bah!

Why are you telling your teacher about your conquests,Treacle? Sounds a bit unusual?

steamedtreaclesponge · 24/05/2010 21:00

...Well, I'm still at school, but I'm allowed out to parties and the like. But my prissy cousin now seems to be attracting my admirer's attention - I can't think what he sees in her!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/05/2010 10:34

Sorry Pogle

You sound very young treacle, is it the 1920s where you are? Erm, is your cousin the teacher?

AIBU to trick my DH?

CJCregg · 25/05/2010 13:22

I'm just sitting on the raft, spooning ice cream and gazing out to sea ... don't mind me ...

Poledra · 25/05/2010 13:36

Oh, Treacle, your's is tantalising - I'm sure I've read it at some point. Mind you, I thought for a minute it might be Villette, till I went and looked up the plot summary and discovered that I have forgotten large chunks of the story.

MCP!!

Poledra · 25/05/2010 13:37

And where did that Aberrant Apostrophe come from?!?
