AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/05/2010 13:45

Oooh can I have some ice-cream too? I am trying to do a job application and not getting very far, confidence draining fast...

...Well perhaps not tricking exactly, but helping someone else to run off with his stuff...

steamedtreaclesponge · 25/05/2010 14:47

Erm, it is Villette, Pol!

Although I haven't actually finished it yet, have been a bit sidetracked by Ngaio Marsh...

Elephants, don't you like your DH? Are you planning to leave him?

I want some ice-cream! Is there any mint choc chip?

Poledra · 25/05/2010 15:13

Woohoo!! Inadvertent identification of Treacle's book!!

Must go reread it as I clearly have got myself all confused about what actually happens and how they are all related to each other

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 25/05/2010 15:16

Got any butterscotch?

...He's a big bully, and it's more that I'm planning for him to leave me, in quite a sudden manner.

Pogleswood · 26/05/2010 17:40

Hi all!
Is he going to be leaving you,(and perhaps the world?)permanently,Elephants?

Anything else still going?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/05/2010 18:33

I believe so, Pogle! Pride comes before a fall, I always say. But first to help this little scamp, I've taken quite a shine to him.

CJCregg · 26/05/2010 19:07

Evening, all!

I have no idea what anyone is talking about

AIBU to wish I wasn't under such pressure? I didn't ask for this job ...

llandb · 26/05/2010 20:26

Hello All! Any raspberry ice-cream on this raft?

Cor, what happens when thread fills up if Moomin' isn't back in time to fix it? Who's done it before?

CJ have you just been magically transported?

MCP!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/05/2010 20:53

Does your workplace being Unseen add to your problems, CJ?

Dear me, llandb, we're nearly out!

llandb · 26/05/2010 22:06

Gasp! At least if the raft plunges into the black hole, we'll get to enjoy our ice-cream veery slooowlllll....

Um, right, who wants honour of starting new thread? Should it be whoever has been here longest and is still here? Who's that, then?

Am pretty rubbish at lists. But if nobody else is desperate for the the job, I'll have a little time to have a crack at it over the weekend. (To eventually be posted in new thread, wot will be started by someone else ). Though I reckon leave off list of books until Moomin gets back as she'll have done it already.

What do you all think?

Oh and MCP!

steamedtreaclesponge · 26/05/2010 22:38

Good plan, llandb - was wondering about this myself

Who wants to start the new thread? I would but I've never started a thread before and I think I might get it wrong

Elephants, yours is ringing a bell but I just can't think... is this scamp you're planning on helping human?

Poledra · 26/05/2010 22:43

I'm happy to start a new one (if Moomin hasn't come back by then). Will not, however, be able to produce any lists of Wot Has already Been AIBU'd. That dubious pleasure is all Moomin's

MCP please - and MIC! (More Ice-Cream)

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 08:15

Wow,nearly thread 7!
Aren't you all efficient - the icecream must be having a beneficial effect!

Was going to say MIC,but it is all a bit wet and gloomy again here this morning

The thing about doing the "what has been AIBU'd" list is that you do actually have to recognise them all, don't you! And Moomin does it so well!

CJCregg · 27/05/2010 11:44

Hi all! Must get arse into gear for new thread. Going to make a list of my own of new AIBUs to do so I don't end up casting desperately around and doing the same ones but from a different angle!

There was no magic transport, and I'm not Unseen ... there was a journey, though, and it went a bit wrong. And now I am in charge ...

(I made that ice cream with DD on Tuesday - God, it is good. Death to my diet, though

PS happy to start a new thread but I think - and honestly, this is not copping out - that we should leave the books list to Moomin because I have a feeling she makes notes as she goes along ...

MCP/MICP

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 13:46

Making a list of new AIBUs is a very good idea,CJ,a bit of thinking ahead and perhaps planning the next few months reading with AIBU Books in mind would make life much less stressful!

Alternatively we have been on this thread a tad too long.....no,that can't be right!

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 14:05

Oh,and I was going to ask if anyone thinks we should move out of AIBU??

llandb · 27/05/2010 16:16

Yay to whoever starts new thread, as long as it' not me.

When do we know when this one runs out? Think it's a limit of 1000 posts?

So whoever posts the 1000th post HAS to link to the new thread, especially if it moves out of AIBU

Have no opinion as to where it should go as long as there is room for raft of NIMCP and ice-cream.

Hmm, yes, someone non-Moomin might have fun compiling the list: 'so, x, what was yours from post y, in which the meerkats took over the world using cunningly-designed desert rafts and ice-cream?'

Sunnier here this afternoon, so: MIP! Oh and MCP!

Poledra · 27/05/2010 16:52

Depends where we go - if we move to Chat, the threads will disappear after 90 days, so I think that's a non-starter.

We could go to Adult Fiction, as long as everyone realises you can still do children's books

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 17:02

I was thinking Adult Fiction,it was just a passing thought really ,and I don't feel that strongly about it.
Definitely not Chat...

llandb · 27/05/2010 17:03

And nursery rhymes and fairy tales and musicals and pomes and and and....

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 17:11

Oh dear, that was a totally pointless pair of posts, wasn't it!(mine,I mean!) Sadly I am the world's worst at "what would you like to do?" "don't mind, what would you like to do?" "well, whatever you prefer.." "no,no - I'm not bothered - if you'd rather do X" type conversations !

Now I'm thinking a bit more I quite like us being an disguised thread, like a mole, hidden in the turbulant waters of AIBU (a drowning mole, obviously ).

Pogleswood · 27/05/2010 17:12

and cook dinner,and cook dinner...

CJCregg · 27/05/2010 17:54

Have started a new thread HERE.

We were almost out of posting space so I thought I'd just do it. Have put it in AIBU again in case Moomin has trouble finding us - though I'm sure the smell of the coffee and ice cream will lure her our way pretty quickly
