To want Chris Evans back on Drivetime?

It's just not the same without him. Yes, I know I can listen to him on the Breakfast Show but the radio goes on for a maximum of half an hour in the morning whereas I have it on all the time while Drivetime is on. It's just not the same.

Not unreasonable at all. I was really pleased when I found out out he was taking over the breakfast slot (couldn't stand TW too smug and self satified). However didn't strike me properly that that meant I wouldn't hear him at drivetime until I was actually driving home today!!! Not keen on Simon Mayo.

I was wondering about writing in and seeing if he could do both!!!! (Chris evans that is!)

Roxylox · 11/01/2010 18:46

MummyDoIt - so agree

MummyDoIt · 11/01/2010 18:48

I'm toying with the idea of recording the Breakfast Show and playing it at 5.00pm!

I think Richard Allinson would be much better in the drive time slot.

Mummyisamonster · 11/01/2010 18:53

Yup, am currently listening to Simon Mayo who seems a very nice man but hey, it's just NOT the same at all.
BTW, MummyDoIt, I wasn't mad keen on the Breakfast show this morning; dreadful music and not enough chat.

MummyDoIt · 11/01/2010 18:58

I only caught a bit of the Breakfast Show but I guess Chris Evans is probably trying to keep the Wogan fans happy with the music, etc. Hopefully, he'll settle in to it and be more like his drivetime self.

Not enjoying Mayo at all (which probably explains why I'm on MN instead of tidying up my kitchen!).

Yes you should iplayer the breakfast show and replay it at drivetime because it was THE EXACT SAME SHOW

Lame lame lame

I lasted 20 minutes then the shouting, interrupting/singing over records/ 'banter' with that TWONK Johnny Saunders and puerile phone ins 'Oh! I'm wearing pyjamas Chris!' drove me to work

lalaa · 11/01/2010 19:07

IMO it wasn't the same show because he played less contemporary music. I love Chris Evans and I was just willing him on to play something I wanted to dance around the room to. I think breakfast plus drivetime is a genius idea! He's full of optimism and positivity and it's a brilliant way to start the day.

Cyb · 11/01/2010 19:12

He is a noisy plonker

Cyb: In your opinion. Not in mine!

Heqet · 11/01/2010 19:22

Very unreasonable. I tuned my radio away from radio 2 when I found out that smug, pompous, cocky, obnoxious, loathsome fool of a man was taking over the breakfast show.

He is one of those people that you really want to hit in the face with a frying pan.

Cyb · 11/01/2010 19:27

Heqet I think lots of people will doing that...me included

moondog · 11/01/2010 19:32

Isn't he just.
I feel very sad with no TW in the morning. And i still miss Johnny Walker in the evening.
Don't know what I shall listen to now.

Hulababy · 11/01/2010 19:33

I like Chris Evans. I tuned in this morning. I like talk type radio. I liked Terry Wogan too. I certainly won't be retuning, and plenty of people I know aren't either.

Cyb · 11/01/2010 19:34

I have been tinkering with Steve Allen on LBC but he is just SOOO bitchy I can't stomach it every day.

radio 4 too worthy

Dr Fox here I come by the sounds of it

southeastastra · 11/01/2010 19:35

listen to planet rock moondog, breakfast with alice cooper

i like radio london in the morning, chris is too much! but i hated his evening show and liked the bloke who did the mystery voice

ProfessorPoopyPants · 11/01/2010 19:35

Dawntigga, I totally agree, Mayo was massive mistake. When I'm working (2/3 days a week) I have an hour commute each way and CE was the only thing that made it bearable in the evening. Is ok to have him in the morning but cannot believe they didn't get Richard Allinson for Drivetime, who seems a genuinely nice, happy person.
Simon Mayo comes across as trying to be jolly but I picture him living alone with his internet, his bottle of whisky and a voodoo doll of his ex wife. I know nothing whatsoever about his personal life, but that is what he sounds like to me. Miserable and slightly mean.

elvislives · 11/01/2010 19:40

I quite enjoyed Simon Mayo as I sat in a traffic jam on the way home.

OTOH I didn't enjoy the "business" of CE this morning in the same jam. TW's voice is more soothing. I don't want noisy and kerrazy in the morning

maxpower · 11/01/2010 19:50

YANBU, Simon Mayo is so boring, I was gutted when they annouced Chris Evans was moving to the morning show.

I miss CE - I listen to him preparing the evening meal. I actually think Richard Bacon should now do drive-time cos' he's more personality than Simon nice Mayo.

Cyb · 11/01/2010 19:58

I miss Terry.

pinkteddy · 11/01/2010 20:01

Ooh yes pancake, I love Richard Bacon - he used to do a drivetime show on xfm a few years ago. I enjoyed Simon tonight though - good music anyway!

Hobnobfanatic · 11/01/2010 20:04

Great to have Chris on Breakfast - but I really missed him for Drivetime. I just can't listen to Simon Mayo - I switched to Radio 4...
