To want Chris Evans back on Drivetime?

It's just not the same without him. Yes, I know I can listen to him on the Breakfast Show but the radio goes on for a maximum of half an hour in the morning whereas I have it on all the time while Drivetime is on. It's just not the same.

I too miss Johnny Walker in the evening.

Evans is okay, he'll do. Reckon I'll switch to 5 Live when I'm truly fed up.

I think Richard Bacon should be given a go at Drivetime (like Pancakeflipper suggested).

YANBU,
I am thinking of doing listen again to the breakfast show in the drivetime slot

jumpyjan · 11/01/2010 20:12

I too thought CE's show was exactly the same as the drive time one - apart from the music.

Bringing back Moira Stuart was genius which will win him a few votes with the oldies.

Don't think I will listen again though as I find all his phone in's/and banter a bit boring - and felt very sorry for the woman he interupted when she was talking about going back to work today after mat leave and it was her little boys first birthday.

I used to quite like it when Simon Mayo stood in for Chris Evans as thought it was an improvement.

Cyb · 11/01/2010 20:13

I thought bringing Moira Stewart back was cynical. So was bunging in a few 'golden oldie' songs. Still the same juvenile drivel inbetween though.

RolandButter · 11/01/2010 20:14

i have the space of ONE song to drive to work

so it better be a good one not fucking sport at 7 55am

AnathemaDevice · 11/01/2010 20:16

YANBU-get him back to drivetime so I don't have to listen to him. I liked Wogan, Deadly, Boggy and the Janet and John stories. I don't want shouting and'I'm so zany' wankiness at half past seven in the morning.
Wogan in the morning, Jonny Walker in the evening, and Chris Evans beaten to a pulp by Heqet and her frying pan, please.

ah no TW was big turn off for me on rad 2

yama · 11/01/2010 20:23

The BEST (and maybe only) thing about the whole reshuffle is that I don't ever have to listen to Sarah Kennedy again as I get up at 7.

yama · 11/01/2010 20:25

That whole "we'll rejoin tomorrow ...... if we're spared" reminded me that I could die that day.

moondog · 11/01/2010 21:45

I love Sarah Kennedy.Sh'e hilarious, as is Steve Wright.

Georgimama · 11/01/2010 21:53

Steve Wright is an uter tool. They need to sort out the middle of the day on Radio 2 now - after Ken Bruce we have London cabbies opining for two hours with that subprime Jezza Kyle supervising ("I'm not racist but" seems to be how most contributions start) and then SW and his "love the shows". Is he really so desperately insecure that he won't read out a message without a "love the show" in it?

moondog · 11/01/2010 21:56

What getrs me is thar awful smug GP on Jeremy Vine who is miraculously an authority on everything from melanomas to kidney transplants to speech nad language difficulties.

She needs a kick up the jacksy.

moondog · 11/01/2010 21:57

uter

Is that German then?

Georgimama · 11/01/2010 21:58

Flemish. Honest.

TigerDrivesAgain · 11/01/2010 21:58

I'm with yama - no SK at 7am is a result. But why did I enjoy CW at drivetime but really really loathe his show this morning? It was drivel, music was rubbish, the posse (is that the right word) were boring....

Worst bit for me is that Johnnie Walker isn't doing the morning show fill-ins any more. they were really good and great music.

Georgimama · 11/01/2010 22:00

I think he will find his stride in the mornings. It was a bit "don't scare the horses" but he will sort it out. Apparently he got over 1000 complaints when he took over the afternoons from Johnnie Walker, and look how popular it was at the end.

Heated · 11/01/2010 22:02

I too want Chris Evans to go back to drive time on R2.

Terry used to accompany me to work every day ; always tried to get home before Chris Evans came on air.

TigerDrivesAgain · 11/01/2010 22:04

CW? CE. I am a twit.

DreamsInBinary · 11/01/2010 22:06

I want it how it was.

Soothing Terry in the morning to calm my frazzled nerves, and funny, personable Chris in the evenings to make me laugh (and entertain the DC's with the Fox song).

Simon Mayo is shit, but Dr Fox??

Cyb · 11/01/2010 22:09

I fear he is my only hope

LauraIngallsWilder · 11/01/2010 22:09

I loved Chris in the evenings
Not keen on him in the mornings - he is far too noisy

And simon mayo is unbearable at any time
as is Aled Jones

I quite like Richard Allinson though

I listened to welsh radio at teatime today

Aled Jones. Wish the Snowman had finished him off. Even my mum thinks he's sanctimonious. I have to turn the radio off if I suspect he's on.

DreamsInBinary · 11/01/2010 22:15

I feel a national obligation to defend Aled Jones. But can't think how.

Don't do it, Cyb. Ripping at one's own ears is dangerous in a moving vehicle.
