To want Chris Evans back on Drivetime?

It's just not the same without him. Yes, I know I can listen to him on the Breakfast Show but the radio goes on for a maximum of half an hour in the morning whereas I have it on all the time while Drivetime is on. It's just not the same.

I used to love my radio routine - wake up and listen (& roar with laughter!) to Radio1 and Chris Moyles. As soon as he finished I would then turn on Radio2 and stay with it all day. love Ken Bruce, Jeremy Vine and Steve Wright. Used to love listening to Chris Evans on drive time but he's OKish on breakfast - I just don't have the time to listen properly and i still enjoy chris Moyes (can't stand the rest of radio 1 though).

I enjoy a bit of loud in the morning!!!Gets us all going.

Do enjoy Lisa Tarbuck etc when Steve Wright is off.

I CANT STAND that "hello goodbye" stuff! Truly truly awful!!!

wickeddevil · 13/01/2010 10:31

wow I am so glad I am not the only one thinking this. Much as I miss TW I am very pleased that Chris has replaced him, but Simon Mayo ??????????????

While I am on the subject would it be possible to get rid of Sarah Kennedy, who has to be the most irritating thing on radio?

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 13/01/2010 11:21

I am with you on Sarah Kennedy. She is so, so jolly hockey sticks and the music she plays is simply appalling.

For anyone looking for an alternative on BBC Six Music - you need a DAB or internet radio, but a good start to the day is worth investing in.

Chris Hawkins (also v.good) is on until 7am and then Shaun comes in. The music is top quality, there's no shouting at all and Shaun works well with the lovely Matt, who does music news. Shaun took over some time ago from Phill Jupitus and I was dreading it, but I love him now.

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 13/01/2010 11:24

Sorry, my above post makes no sense!

The second paragraph should read:

"For anyone looking for an alternative, try Shaun Keaveney (sic?) on BBC Six Music - you need a DAB or internet radio, but a good start to the day is worth investing in."

agree with the poster that said that CE is taking it too softly softly at the moment, and once he gets his confidence, I'm hoping he'll go back to playing more of the contemporary music. I think it's getting better though, as the week goes on.

You can't blame him though. I read somewhere that he did 6 practice shows and a full dress rehearsal last Friday. Sounds to me like he's keen to get it right, and he's probably trying too hard!

As a CE fan, I have to say that I have put up with years and years and years of not having anything I like to listen to in the morning. And, as someone else has said, I agree that R2 needs to sort out who it is trying to target and then just go for it.

My view on the other presenters: JV is the Daily Mail on radio and is getting worse imo. KB is too overtly smutty for my taste. Find SW a bit bland and I too can't stand the endless 'love the show' mentions. Haven't listened to SM yet but it has been on in the background, so perhaps that sums it up!

shockers · 13/01/2010 15:28

I quite like CE on the breakfast show but was really hoping he would drop the "what's in the locker cocker?" spot and also the juke box jury... both make me want to turn it off.
I miss TW's soothing tones though and I miss the 'occasion' of the drive time show with CE on it ( it had a party atmosphere about it)
SM's voice just doesn't do it for me....
Should I get out more d'ythink?

kittya · 13/01/2010 17:48

I like radio six, Ive only just started to listen to it this week. I still have some loyalty to radio 2, I like Chris Evans and think he just needs time.

As far as Im aware the dj's dont get hardly any say with what music they play. If you notice, most of them, espeicially Sarah Kennedy and those bores during the night, they play the same songs all the time.

Internet radio in the car? Really? Is it any good or does it cut out a lot?

FlorenceandtheWashingMachine · 13/01/2010 18:05

I only have DAB in the car, but use the internet jobbies at home and the quality of those is superb.

Rumour has it that you can get web in your car (via iPhone for instance) but I have never tried it.
