To want Chris Evans back on Drivetime?

It's just not the same without him. Yes, I know I can listen to him on the Breakfast Show but the radio goes on for a maximum of half an hour in the morning whereas I have it on all the time while Drivetime is on. It's just not the same.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 11/01/2010 22:17

I miss Terry
He's accompanied me to work nearly all my adult life.
CE is too bouncy for me, I liked to be soothed into the day

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 11/01/2010 22:19

In fact, I will lend heqet my frying pan if she can't find hers

Cyb · 11/01/2010 22:23

I have a Le Creuset casserole which would do the job a treat

SlartyBartFast · 11/01/2010 22:29

listed to ce this morning, i loved his drive time show, i knew he would play Rockaria . love that.
but agree it sounded rather lively and similar to the drive time.
will see tomorrow when i am driving to work and home, how it suits me.
reallyy gone off steve wright, and jeremy vine's listeners can be so predictable.aaargh. Absolutely cannot stand that doctor know it all woman who comes on.

i used to love richard allinson but get the imrpession he annoys people somewhat and cannot understand where he is all the rest of the year when he pops up on radio 2 so occasionally.

but nothign compares to the awfulness of that CHATTY man. grrrrrrrrr

TigerDrivesAgain · 11/01/2010 22:36

Who is the chatty man? Not that Paul O'Grady. He makes me feel faint.

LauraIngallsWilder · 11/01/2010 22:43

Alan Carr is chattyman - Im not a fan

I quite like Paul O'Grady

TigerDrivesAgain · 11/01/2010 22:45

Oh - doh. Agree, Alan Carr isn't what I want to hear. Thank goodness for Planet Rock - it's usually reliable if a bit predictable (although not necessarily at 7am), and can't get it in the car anyway .

moondog · 11/01/2010 23:04

Planet Rahk surely?

TigerDrivesAgain · 11/01/2010 23:06

yep, that's the one. Always reliable for a nice bit of Neil Young or some obscure bit of metal. But not necessarily what you want with your rice crispies. Except at the weekend.

FimbleHobbs · 12/01/2010 08:29

I was glad Terry left, I hated his voice coming over the radio, felt creepy and squeamish.

Fern Britton was doing Jeremy Vine's show yesterday and she was brilliant. I think she is doing it all week. We need more women like her on the radio.

maxybrown · 12/01/2010 08:31

I miss Terry too

I quite enjoyed Chris when I was sorting dinner out etc, but not sure about mornings.......it is a bit too in yer face, like a giddy toddler.

I am however quite pleased that I miss Sarah kennedy..............although, she has always irritated me, Chris is doing more so in a diff way. It is a bit too Radio 1 ish and I haven't listened to that since I was about 12 (apart form in other peoples cars and I have had to paw at my ears)

Oh and Chris DEF needs to get rid of that Jonny person, urgh.

posieparker · 12/01/2010 08:36

I am now listening to radio 4 at 'drivetime' or Scott Mills...Simon Mayo is an idiot and speaks to Sally like a dick. I would love Mark Radcliffe, Richard Bacon and my special treat Emma Forbes and Mark radcliffe....

PrePopWarhol · 12/01/2010 09:59

I miss Terry too

I am sick of the meeja going on about his Togs etc being old fogeys and won't be able to bear rude language or modern songs.

They have certainly never listened to his show (thank God they never cottoned on to Janet and John.....).

Chris Evans is nowhere near as intelligent as he likes to think he is, I don't really mind him but can't bear him ringing up random children all the time. Embarrassing.

Bettymum · 12/01/2010 10:00

I wanted Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie to take over on drivetime, they're brilliant. HATE HATE HATE Simon Mayo, he comes across as mean spirited somehow. And that stupid pontunes competition. The most boring thing I think I have ever heard on the radio! Hopefully he won't last long.
Agree Chris's morning music not good at the moment, I think he'll settle into it though. Loving the silky sound of Moira's voice reading the news, she is very soothing.

maxybrown · 12/01/2010 10:14

prepop....lol, quite!! I am certainly not an old fogey!

lucyellensmumagain · 12/01/2010 10:15

Oh, i loved TW!! He used to keep me company whilst i counted flies in the morning - i couldnt imagine feeling quite so chilled with the ginger twonk!

But so long as they don't get rid of Ken Bruce - i think i would give up on Radio two if they did!

skorpion · 12/01/2010 10:46

Hear hear PrePopWarhol! I loved TW , nothing like a bit of gentle smut in the morning. Listened to CE today and it was pants. I don't want his jollies, who cares that some kid went skiing for the first time?

I liked SM on Radio 5, too. Don't like these changes at all...

maxybrown · 12/01/2010 10:49

Nor me I am feeling already by the 2nd day, that we have some sort of replacement stand in that is getting on my nerves because he's been on for a fortnight....and although i was sad tery was going, I thought Chris was ok in the evening so not too worried.........but I no like

HinnyPet · 12/01/2010 11:00

I'm not an old fogey (well, I'm 35 so perhaps getting there) and I really miss Terry's gentle wit and banter (and very clever smut skorpion, quite agree) and I really miss Janet and John.

I used to listen to Chris Evans in my youth and he was more inrritating then, just as much now, IMHO.

Now I have to listen to Tony Horn in the morning who is for example.. a twat

bootoyoutoo · 12/01/2010 11:05

YANBU

If you can get a signal then Geoff Lloyd on Absolute radio is very similar in style and music to Chris Evans, that's who I've switched to. Only trouble is they have ad breaks all the bloody time.

Agree that Radcliffe and Maconie would be fab at drivetime, shall we start a campaign?

satonthesofa · 12/01/2010 11:10

I miss TW I even used to listen to him having my breakfast as a child. It feels like someone is missing from our family!!!!!!!

CE is, for example........

So where do I tune into now. Out of range for a London station. Have got digital radio though.

LadyThompson · 12/01/2010 11:13

Come on people, it's only Day 2!

Loved Terry

ADORE Chris

Really quite fond of Simon Mayo

Think SK is right for that time in the morn.

(However, in the interest of balance, Steve Wright is utterly unbearable - omce across as a fragile, odious man - and I once had a lot of respect for J. Vine but that lunchtime show is just rotten, a real downer and so relentlessly tabloid)...

kitpuss · 12/01/2010 11:20

I loved Chris on drivetime but was a bit diappointed that he did the exact same show yesterda except for the rubbish music.
To be honest I think he's a bit too manic for first thing in the morning.

And what's wrong with Simon Mayo everyone? I remember him fondly from my youth listening to him on Breakfast on Radio 1. Admittedly he's not as high energy as Chris Evans, but for me he won hands down yesterday, his music was so much better.

moodlum · 12/01/2010 11:23

I quite like SM in the evening, I'm relaxed about that change to my routine...

But CE in the morning i really wanted to like, and the jury's still out. For me, he's falling between two stools - still playing the gentle easy listening music which I'm not wild about, but filling the gaps with stuff that's all a bit shouty. Doesn't really work for me atm, but am prepared to let it grow.

Beeb - if you're reading this very influential forum for mothers with a modicum of intelligence please note the following - I loathe that man interjecting with ridiculous soundbites about "welcome to another day on planet earth" and the CE music/breakfast jingle at the outset is tooooooo much. Even Chris Moyles has learnt that you have to start quiet and gear up as people wake up. Thanks.

ProfYaffle · 12/01/2010 11:25

Bettymum - I would've loved Ratcliffe and Maconi on drivetime too. I miss Chris, have been listening to pm on Radio 4 which is ok but a bit worthy.
