AIBU Books Game Part 5

1000 replies

MoominMymbleandMy · 04/10/2009 20:46

Now we've made it to a fifth thread!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to set all my sights on getting a rich husband?

OP posts:
llandb · 24/01/2010 19:04

Ooh Burns emoticoms!

MoominMymbleandMy · 24/01/2010 20:37

...She wants to interview him. I could tell her lots more interesting stuff but it's him she wants, and to have him photographed sitting on her knee...

Shame to waste these, so at failure to get any further on anyone else's AIBU

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 25/01/2010 10:33

Morning all!

...I thought I was talented, but the rest of my family seem to be getting all the attention...

PS - Have started Autumn Term and am glued to it - very at having to come to work instead of curling up on the sofa with it!

Pogleswood · 25/01/2010 13:02

Morning!
So,Moomin,he's an animal presumably? Or is this interview a bit,well,hmm...

Treacle,MCP,glad you are enjoying Autumn Term - and it gets better! (IMO) All you need to do now is spend every spare moment trawling ebay for affordable copies of the other books....

CJ,please come back and tell me if you are a cowardly wizard having potato fantasies?

MoominMymbleandMy · 25/01/2010 14:01

Afternoon, all!

Poor Treacle, having to abandon Autumn Term! I'm so glad you're enjoying it.

Are you from a musical family?

...He's a boy! But he doesn't mind soppy stuff like sitting on people's knees. Anyway, he's got to if he wants us to keep his secret...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 25/01/2010 14:44

Have absolutely no idea on anyone's this afternoon - MCP!

...My brother is musical - my sister's never been that good at anything but that seems to be changing...

Pogleswood · 25/01/2010 23:23

We all seem to have run out of steam a bit after that flurry of AIBUs last week, don't we,? Just popping in to say bye for now,and I hope to be back at the end of the week!

CJCregg · 25/01/2010 23:26

Hope it goes ok, Pogle!

I just like a spot of butter on my baked potato, that's all. There's a risk I might get caught when I sneak into the house, and dragged off to do something else, and I don't really want to be distracted from this thing ...

llandb · 26/01/2010 00:51
steamedtreaclesponge · 26/01/2010 08:29

Good luck, Pogle! See you soon.

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 12:49

Afternoon all!

Hope all goes well, Pogle, and you're back home very soon for a spell of MN-ing, reading and being pampered. We'll miss you.

Are you all staying in California, Treacle?

...If he gives her that interview and sits on her knee for a photograph, I bet she won't say anything about us flooding the house...

MCP, especially on the mysterious baked potato!

Don't forget to leave me a post for the end of the thread list, please!

OP posts:
CJCregg · 26/01/2010 13:54

Moomin, I have no idea what yours could possibly be but you are very, very clever getting Treacle's - once again I only recognise it once someone else has got there first!

I must say, I thought you and Pogle would get mine straight away

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 15:09

Umm, sorry, CJ, the baked potato has me stumped. MCP, and for Elephants' one too!

And I might not have got the right family for Treacle's.

...I expect it did the floor good to have a wash but grown-ups are funny about these things. And we do need the ten shillings for sweets and arrows and marbles and lots of other stuff...

OP posts:
Poledra · 26/01/2010 15:36

Well, only posting to mark where I've read to. No idea on anyone's.

Hope Pogle's doing OK.

steamedtreaclesponge · 26/01/2010 15:38

Yours is sounding familiar, Moomin, but I still can't think what it might be!

No idea on the potato, sorry CJ

And yes, we are in California, well done

AIBU to disapprove of this girl?

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/01/2010 15:59

Sorry to have disappeared for so long! Not that I am any help now, because despite definite familiar rumblings around Moomin's I've got nothing to offer.

Unless your little brother is named after a baby animal at all, Moomin?

...Well, now my big brother has gone into town, it's market day apparently. God knows why he wants to go there, when my littlest brother went he could hardly get away fast enough!

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 26/01/2010 16:00

Ooh, what was yours, Treacle?

You might be BU, is she sloppy with her housework? Or just a bit foul-mouthed?

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 16:57

Hooray, Treacle! But the very brief glow of satisfaction at having got one is rapidly dissipated by a fog of befuddlement on everything else. MCP all!

...And he won't want everyone knowing what he's really like, after all those soppy poems his mother wrote about him. So we'll give him the recording of him having a tantrum at his nurse if he does the interview...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 26/01/2010 18:35

Still NIMCP ...

I'm going to sneak in and get some butter. I just hope the others don't move the story on while I'm gone.

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 18:51

Hmm, you're sounding Jasper Fforde-ish now, CJ, but I have to admit I don't remember anything about a baked potato.

...And if Ginger's aunt gets her interview with soppy old Anthony Martin she'll be so pleased she'll tell Ginger's parents we were really good and we'll get the ten shillings. We do need it, you know...

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 26/01/2010 18:57

Aha - some judicious googling and I now know that you are William, Moomin! I must read some more Richmal Crompton.

Elephants, my last one was The Painted Garden by Noel Streatfield.

...I'm worried that my son is interested in her, and I don't think she's good enough for him...

NIMCP!

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:10

Well done, Treacle! It was Aunt Arabelle Takes Charge from William the Pirate and inspired by all the AA Milne stuff we seem to have been doing lately.

I don't think Richmal Crompton was very impressed by AA Milne!

MCP again and as this thread is getting very slow to get into, I'll do the end of thread list post and start a new thread.
