How long do you take to get up and out to work in the morning?

I set my alarm at 6.40am to leave at 7.40. The time it takes me to actually get ready, ie shower, make up, breakfast, dressed etc is about 35 mins but as I work in a school and so can't use the loo unless it's at break or lunchtime, I like to have the extra time in case I need a poo after breakfast! Kids have left home so don't have anyone else to worry about.

Just musing if that's quick, slow or about average.

Thanks for adding the essential info about the poo.

Cantstopeatingjaffacakes · Yesterday 17:00

2 hours! 20mins of that is actually getting ready the rest of the time is drinking coffee, reading and mentally preparing myself for the day ahead.

Thanks for adding the essential info about the poo.

I did think it was essential to my answer, sorry if it offended.

I can do it in half an hour as I don’t function without breakfast but I get up at 7 and leave the house at 8.15. I like to arrive at work as stress free as possible as anything could happen at work !

FloofTrousers · Yesterday 17:07

An hour and a half if not excercising. I need a good 30 mins for coffee, waking up, getting my head prepared etc

Gettingbysomehow · Yesterday 17:11

I get up at 6am feed the cats, make coffee and go back to bed until 7.30. I need time to process waking up. I might have a 2nd coffee.
Then it takes me half an hour to shower, dress and get out of the front door by 8.
No way can I wake up and get up straight away.

Gengha · Yesterday 17:11

About half an hour I literally shower and maybe give my hair a quick straighten, dress and a spot of make up and I’m out. I don’t wash my hair on office days. My husband makes me a coffee which I take out in a travel mug and I have that and
a bite to eat at my desk.

DramaAlpaca · Yesterday 17:13

I'm up, showered and out the door in thirty minutes.

chickensandbees · Yesterday 17:14

If I have a day when I have to travel somewhere for work I can be up and out the door in 15mins. But that's when I don't have to factor in kids or eating breakfast.

dontgiveafigso · Yesterday 17:14

15 minutes as I prep the night before and am super quick

Showmethehoney0 · Yesterday 17:14

30 minutes, up at half 6 have a quick shower put on make up throw hair in a clip get dressed and go. Drive to work only takes 15 minutes so I’m lucky there.

Strachalan · Yesterday 17:14

I need 2 hours to drink enough tea to revive myself and iron the creases out of my face. My ex partner used to get up sometimes 3 hours before even needing to leave for work. But he needed at least 1 of those hours to whinge 🤣

searchforthesun · Yesterday 17:15

2 hours, but that’s getting a load of washing done and hung out, washing put away from day before, shower, make up, making lunch boxes, sitting drinking tea for half an hour waiting for HRT to dry. I could be much quicker but I don’t like to rush.

Wildywondrous · Yesterday 17:15

I work from home, up at 8.30 then first customer arrives at 9.

Fupoffyagrasshole · Yesterday 17:16

Manage to get 4 of us out the door in 40 mins most days

BreezyClouds · Yesterday 17:17

If I had no one else to deal with 30 mins would do it, 40 to be leisurely.

I shower at night and have curly hair so nothing to do with it in the morning. Wash, dress, make up, go. I might eat breakfast or get something at work.

ClaudeHopper · Yesterday 17:17

I only go into the office about once a week. I take my time getting ready and blow drying my hair takes ages. I get up at 8 and I’m usually ready to leave by 10.

mtobrokeme · Yesterday 17:18

Up at 6am, shower, dry hair, make up, dressed and take dog for a walk and feed him. In the meantime son gets up at 7.15, gets his breakfast, gets dressed, makes sure he has anll his gear and we’re off for 7.52am exactly, drop son off and then am at my desk for 8.15!

QueenStevie · Yesterday 17:19

Alarm at 6, go down, feed cats, grab breakfast, take back to bed whilst DH showers. Hope in the shower about 6:20. Ready to leave house about 6:40/6:45. In work by 6:55. I love getting in early before everyone else and just cracking on. My lovely colleague makes me a cuppa when she arrives about 7:15. That's usually my last drink of the day, until I realise I'm shrivelling up about 2:30!

ItsNotMeEither · Yesterday 17:20

I'm a teacher, but I'm not a morning person. I'm up, showered and makeup on in right on 30 minutes. Then it's out the door and off to work.

Anything that can be done the night before is done the night before. Lunch sorted, clothes picked out etc.

JustFrustrated · Yesterday 17:20

If it’s a shower morning - about 1hr 5 - 6am alarm, into shower, down to make coffee and feed the hellions, up to makeup and do hair whilst drinking coffee aim to be out the door no later than 7.10

not a shower morning - 45 minutes.

but I have a habit of stretching the time … so if I happen to not need to leave until 845 you can bet your last dollar I’ve just procrastinated getting ready and the last five minutes are a rush 🙈

TwinklyAmberSloth · Yesterday 17:20

We only have 1 bathroom and 3 wanting a shower so I use the bathroom 1st at 6.30am.

I then have to get 3 kids up and get their lunch boxes etc...

Oh and also have a wee before I go because as a teacher I only get break and lunch to pee as I'm too busy once I get to school.

Onlythisnamewasavailable · Yesterday 17:24

Up and out is an interesting concept though...

That implies staying in bed to allow the required time before needing to go to work

I wake up at 6-6:30 naturally. I start work at 8. I take my time over a coffee, catch up with messages/word games/emails, feed the dog, probably put some laundry on, shower, maybe do some chores, maybe do some studying, maybe just faff around on my phone on social media, hang the laundry out if the cycle is done before 8am.

I then switch on the laptop at 8am. It's too early to eat before work, so I usually have breakfast later on at my desk.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · Yesterday 17:24

An hour and a half but that includes an half hour dog walk. I need an hour for shower, getting dressed, breakfast, a bit of clearing up and make lunch.

PeriPeriMayo · Yesterday 17:26

4 of us out the door in an hour.
We prepare everything we can the night before.
If I didnt have 3 kids to feed and chivy along i could do myself in about 20 mins!
