How long do you take to get up and out to work in the morning?

I set my alarm at 6.40am to leave at 7.40. The time it takes me to actually get ready, ie shower, make up, breakfast, dressed etc is about 35 mins but as I work in a school and so can't use the loo unless it's at break or lunchtime, I like to have the extra time in case I need a poo after breakfast! Kids have left home so don't have anyone else to worry about.

Just musing if that's quick, slow or about average.

From alarm to arriving in work 35-40 minutes. Not a morning person.

HappyLizard23 · Yesterday 17:45

45 minutes

Namechangedoverandover · Yesterday 17:47

Around an hour to hour and 15 mins on a good day.

I brush teeth, shower, dry off, moisturise from head to toe, get dressed and comb hair. Then I go downstairs to get my things together and leave the house.

I don't have a drink or breakfast before heading out the door.

So I'm a bit of a slow coach compared to others on here. 😀

I do 20 mins as I'm really not a morning person and need the sleep to not feel and act like a grumpy monster. Get bag and clothes ready the night before. Then just wash face and teeth and go. Husband makes me a coffee to go and I eat a Muesli bar as not big on breakfast either.

2hrs. Quick 15mins with dogs, exercise - either weights or 3mile walk, shower, coffee, out the door with DS.

So leave at 7.15.

susiedaisy1912 · Yesterday 17:52

90 minutes from alarm going off to leaving the house. I shower in the mornings and pre food.

Bryonyberries · Yesterday 17:52

About an hour and half. I get up about 7am - have a coffee and a scroll. Shower about 7.15. Then once I’m done with that breakfast and making lunch for the day and meds.

Leapintothelightning · Yesterday 17:53

I get up at 6:30 to leave the house at 7:50.
Shower including hair wash, hair dried and straightened, make-up on, dressed, lunch packed and out the door. I could get it done quicker but I like not having to rush.

Up at 7.30 with 3 kids. Showered and dressed by 7.45. All downstairs for breakfast, pet feeding and lunch prep. 8.15 back upstairs, they get dressed and I make the beds and tidy, put a wash on etc. Out of the door at 8.40. I’m back in by 9, make a second coffee and sit at my desk. Because I WFH I can take multiple breaks to run little jobs here and there (self employed so no one cares). If I was going into an office I’d probably need an extra 15-20 minutes to sort my stuff and my head.

I shower in the evening so get up around 40 minutes before I leave the house. On wfh days I get up 15 mins before.

grafittiartist · Yesterday 18:11

30 mins. Can be less.
I eat breakfast at work.

GreenEyesMillennial · Yesterday 18:15

About an hour. Get up and go straight to shower, hair care/ face care (dont wear make up), drink my vitamin c whilst drying/straightening my hair in my robe. Get dressed, jewellery and perfume on. Sort the cats out, fill my work bag with my prepared breakfast/lunch. I also always keep 10 minutes to play with the cats before work.

PrincessHoneysuckle · Yesterday 18:39

Around 50 mins
6.30 quick wash
6.40 Coffee
6.50 Do make up and hair
7.20 leave house

Missymarple · Yesterday 18:39

I do as much the night before as I can, so outfit laid out and lunch made. I wake at 6.30, go in shower at 7, makeup, hair and dressed by 7.30, breakfast then out the door at 7.50. 5 minute drive to work, start at 8am. I am very much a creature of habit and perform so much better when my morning goes smoothly.

Same. I prepare everything the night before! Outfit, lunches etc so i dont have to think of what to wear at 6am

About two hours. IBS and teen with SEN.

notanothernamesurely · Yesterday 18:48

If it’s just me to get myself ready I have it down to 20 mins. 5 mins in bathroom- Toilet, teeth, wash face. 5 mins on makeup and hair. 5 mins to empty dishwasher and eat brekky (overnight oats so nothing to prep) and 5 mins to grab lunch from fridge, shoes, coat etc.

Usually I allow 45 mins because in amongst that there’s children and a dog. I shower on a night and prep everything on an evening for the next day.

Because a lot of us can't eat and drink at work until an actual break which could be another 4/5 hours away

And some of us enjoy the ten or so minutes over breakfast with our kids.

Foodylicious · Yesterday 18:53

Ideally 45-50 minutes for me and 2 kids (8 & 12). More often its about half an hour.
Breakfast, dressed, teeth and go for them. Shower, dressed and teeth for me.
Thankfully OH makes their packed lunches before he leaves at 7.
I don- do breakfast or coffee at home before work, and do quick make up in the car park at work.

Teenagerantruns · Yesterday 18:57

Only me and l can do it in 30mins , up quick wash, dont shower as l work in kitchen so shower when l get home hot and stinky.
Cup of coffee, doom scroll for 10mins and off l go.
When kids were little it needed 90mins to get everyone motivated and out, also had a corporate job then and did make up and hair, now there is no point.

Up at 6.30. I’m out the door at 7.35 and on the train at 7.45. I have down to each minute now and prepare everything the night before

TheeNotoriousPIG · Yesterday 19:00

15 minutes max, although I have done it in five when I woke up late once. My clothes are always out the night before, dogs pop out for the loo and I put kibble out, breakfast is something quick that doesn't require preparation, and it helps that I don't need to look presentable to milk cows!

LifeOfAShowgirl13 · Yesterday 19:01

Between 40 and 20 minutes depending whether I give myself time to wash my face or not…recently I have not. In my defence I shower in the evening and do not have oily skin :D
