How long do you take to get up and out to work in the morning?

I set my alarm at 6.40am to leave at 7.40. The time it takes me to actually get ready, ie shower, make up, breakfast, dressed etc is about 35 mins but as I work in a school and so can't use the loo unless it's at break or lunchtime, I like to have the extra time in case I need a poo after breakfast! Kids have left home so don't have anyone else to worry about.

Just musing if that's quick, slow or about average.

If I wake up early I just get up then and go to work early. If I have lots of time in the morning I’ll just end up late as I’ll fart around thinking I’ve got loads of time until all of a sudden I don’t

Youlostyourlemons · Yesterday 17:28

Alarm goes at 6.50, I get up at 7. Feed cat, let dog out, start on breakfasts and lunches, pack lunches, have coffee, eat breakfast, shower/hair/makeup/dressed/bags ready and in the car for 8.15 for school drop offs and from there straight to work.

HOW is it possible to wake, have a shower, make-up, get dressed, brush teeth and be ready to go???

luckylavender · Yesterday 17:30

I get up at 5 and leave the house at 7. Take it slowly. Breakfast, coffee and wordle.

I have low standards 😆 I am clean and presentable but not well groomed

Well….. it depends if it’s a hair washing morning, or not, and if I’ve ironed my blouse, etc.!
I’d say about an hour must be about average.
If I’ve to be in the office for 08:45/9, my alarm goes off at 06:00, so I’m actually up at 6.15! I’m terrible at getting out of bed….
I need to leave by 07:30, because of my train/drive in, so I’m on a deadline to be out the door. If everything is all ready, including lunch bag, etc, then I can do it in 25/30 mins, if I don’t need to wash my hair (quick shower, plait hair, dressed, makeup, fruit & coffee in cup for journey) I don’t miss having to do it 5 days a week any more, though!!

JapanesePotWeed · Yesterday 17:32

I could shower and get dressed in 30 mins but nothing else.
I could have a breakfast in 30 mins but nothing else.
I could have a coffee and get my make up done, hair dry, in 30 mins but nothing else...

AMarkAMissionABrandAScar · Yesterday 17:32

I could probably do it in about 20 minutes including a quick shower but as I have DS to sort out/make lunch for it takes about an hour.

I’m here wondering how people are having breakfast at home tbh

I just make some porridge and eat at my desk and have coffee at work

I’d rather just leave

my kids are fed at school and nursery so I don’t even make breakfast for anyone - maybe a bannna at most

fumingrightnow1 · Yesterday 17:34

2 hours

NancyJoan · Yesterday 17:34

I enjoy a slow start, so DH brings me tea, I run a bath (get back in bed while it runs, and drink said tea), turn taps off, go downstairs and make a coffee, back up and drink coffee in bath. Maybe take a load of laundry down and shove it in while I’m downstairs. Once I’m bathed, I get dry and dressed, skincare on, maybe a bit of make up, maybe not. Hang washing out if it’s stopped. Put my breakfast in a Tupperware and off I go. About an hour, maybe a bit longer.

Because a lot of us can't eat and drink at work until an actual break which could be another 4/5 hours away

HaveANiceFuckingDay · Yesterday 17:35

20 mins max
Get Up ,
teeth brush
Face wash
Dressed
Out the door
I bathe the night before and have breakfast at work. I dont see anyone for at least an hour after I start work so I eat breakfast at my desk , scroll tik tok and have a cuppa before I see anyone and get paid so might as well self care at work
I even have a toothbrush and toothpaste at work so could cut down to 15 minutes to get up and out the door

Dutch1e · Yesterday 17:36

I'm not very switched on in the morning so I do everything possible the night before (set coffee timer, lay out clothes, pack bags, make food).

Then I wake up at 04.50 and am out the door at 05.30 for a 6am start

I have a cup of tea while I get ready but I normally chuck a breakfast bar in my bag and have it at work!

20 mins? Quick wash and brush teeth. Put clothes on and go!

An hour and a half for myself and three year old.

I don't have enough confidence for roll&go.
But I work in a customer facing role and someone would be bound to say I looked ill! No chance of eating at my desk either.

If I had no one else to deal with 30 mins would do it, 40 to be leisurely.

I shower at night and have curly hair so nothing to do with it in the morning. Wash, dress, make up, go. I might eat breakfast or get something at work.

I would absolutely love to have hair like yours BreezyClouds

Fine straight hair here and the hours I have wasted wielding a hairdryer of a morning
is just criminal!

LittleWeirdo · Yesterday 17:41

In theory it takes an hour but lately it seems to take longer and longer! I think it’s taking longer to render my face suitable for the outside world these days. I should throw that magnifying mirror in the bin 😭

And I meant do all that in 30mins! 🫣

dancemom · Yesterday 17:41

90 minutes minimum

get up at 5am
feed cats, empty litter trays, tidy away cat toys
shower, skin care, curl hair, apply make up, dress, check work bag
go to kitchen, get packed breakfast and lunch from the fridge
quick kiss goodbye to the cats and DP if he hasn’t left
then an hours commute to the office

Rockpunkdisco · Yesterday 17:41

If it was just getting myself ready then 45 mins is enough. I make sure everything is prepared the night before so no searching for stuff, well I try to!

PumpkinWanker · Yesterday 17:43

Up and out in an hour if washing hair - 45 mins if not. I don’t have a drink or breakfast till I get to work though.
