I don't really eat much sweet stuff but I really fancied something tonight, so I made some pancakes. Took about 15 mins, so quick and cheap. We had them with lemon and sugar....mmmm
Nothing fancy ....but delicious!

What is your simple and underrated favorite?

Eggy bread and bacon 🥓

ChocolateCinderToffee · 03/10/2026 18:35

Definitely. I'm not vegetarian but a lot of the food I eat from choice is meatless. My go to is cheese on toast, or quesadillas made in a frying pan.

Ham and butter sandwiches on crusty bread. Delish. The French haven't forgotten this one, but we have.

JacknDiane · 03/10/2026 18:36

Baked potato cheese and pickled or beans

shellyleppard · 03/10/2026 18:36

Heinz tomato soup in a cup with bread and butter for dunking ❤️❤️❤️

Asiana · 03/10/2026 18:37

Jacket potato

Crudd99 · 03/10/2026 18:37

Beans on toast. Co op beans are my favourite at the moment. Yum.

ThatFunnyCoralScroller · 03/10/2026 18:37

beans on toast. Had some last night after a very busy day where I only had breakfast. Simple easy and hit the spot last night

AInightingale · 03/10/2026 18:38

Absolutely. Excavated a tin of treacle from the cupboard as I had baking margarine to use up, and made treacle scones. Fab.

BreezyClouds · 03/10/2026 18:40

Egg and proper chips for my dinner tonight because everyone else is out, lovely!

MissBattleaxe · 03/10/2026 18:41

poached egg on toast and/or a good jacket potato. If you get the potato just right, it's pure heaven.

fizzywidget · 03/10/2026 18:44

Ham on cheap white bread with lashings of butter, à la kids parties
cocktail sausages
beans with sausage in the tin
ham eggs and chips
all processed to high heaven but so delicious

NotWaitingPatiently · 03/10/2026 18:44

My mouth is watering.....I'm making a list of things to have next week.

Egg and chips for me too; simple and delicious

Aleveldilemma · 03/10/2026 18:52

we eat some of this stuff frequently! Especially jacket potatoes!

I love a simple ham sandwich with white bread and butter. Cheese ones too.

Meadowfinch · 03/10/2026 18:52

Omelettes, soups, fish finger sandwiches with tartare sauce 😋

Redheadedstepchild · 03/10/2026 18:54

Cheese on toast. Or Welsh rarebit if you're being fancy about it. With Wash Your Sister sauce.

None of that fancy Italian, "Pizza" tomato puree infested muck.

Extra marks for making it under an eye level gas grill but I don't think they really exist these days.

Middleagemoper · 03/10/2026 18:55

I’m sitting eating a bowl of rice pudding with jam 😋

FindingMeno · 03/10/2026 18:57

Toasted cheese sandwiches.
Crumpets dripping with butter.
Eggy bread

YellingAway · 03/10/2026 18:58

Egg in a cup with lots of butter.

Barney16 · 03/10/2026 18:59

On toast; beans, poached eggs, scrambled eggs, cheese, cheese and ham. I could go on.

Daisychainsandglitter · 03/10/2026 18:59

Butterfly cakes. Nowadays cakes have so much icing and extra bits on. A little buttercream for me is just right.

Co op beans are really good and only 50p a can member price I won't buy any other brand they are the best and they do the small cans too.

FastAnt · 03/10/2026 19:02

A proper hearty omelette

HexInductionHour · 03/10/2026 19:03

Ploughman's using those part baked baquettes, decent cheese and butter, apple and pickled onions
