AIBU to put out my autumn decorations now?

I think I’ll put out my autumn decorations! Has anyone put there’s out yet (for those of you that do!) I’m late I know but I just didn’t feel autumny until this weekend 🤣

YABVU to have autumn decorations at all. It’s not an occasion, it’s a season.

so what's wrong with having a few seasonal decorations? if it brings a person some joy?

I occasionally visit a hospital at the bottom of a very steep hill, and halfway down, at this time of year, there's a house with Autumn decorations in the front garden. There are leaf garlands wound through the picket fence with red, brown and golden leaves, and the same colours of fairy lights intertwined with them. The lady who lives there makes it look so beautiful, and it cheers me up to see it. I think you'd be fine putting them up now, OP.

It’s not really funny, if you go into the home bargains to get anything, it sells everything like cleaning stuff, food, hygiene products, medicines… They have around three aisles full of autumn tat, stuff like little pumpkins, things with writing on, doormat with autumn leaves on, autumn wreaths, Garlands, that kind of thing. You can’t avoid seeing it. Any of those big cheap shops are the same, Isles of plastic stuff.

Yes, the mention of plastic tat from cheap shops made
me laugh. I have autumnal decorations going back to when the children were tiny (now all in their 30s), mostly hand made or bought from charity shops and craft sales. I have an autumn heart rug and autumn cushion covers, they come out every year. The only ‘new’ thing I buy is a fresh pumpkin for carving on Halloween 🎃

Reminds me of my husbands aunt. She brings the same old dirty/tatty decs out year on year. Sometimes less is more.

Wait until the autumn equinox. Hope these are used every year not cheap tat used only a couple of times and then going to a tip.

If I accept autumn decorations as a thing… the weather is (even where I am in the north) mild enough to not need a warm coat, the leaves are still green on the trees and I’m keeping my garden furniture out in hope of one more dry weekend.

It feels far too early to be looking at pumpkins! Late September is the start of autumn in my book (and maybe even the start of October if I can eke a few extra weeks out of summer!)

My goodness, what a horrid and judgemental post.

We put ours up last week, lights inside and out, garlands, wreaths, candles, cushions, blankets, bedding and ornaments, 🍂

We have had an awful year and this brings a bit of joy.

You know I don't actually disagree that we should all be buying less and buying more intentionally.
What I do disagree with is the horrible, bitchy comments about tat and only impoverished thickos decorating for different seasons and occasions. All the head tilting "what's Autumn OP, never heard of it" crap.
You're not going to change anyone's mind by being a dick.

Blimey, a few little pumpkins & a wreath. If that's the extent of your autumn decorations it's hardly worth asking if it's ok to put them out. Just go ahead if that's what you want. (And why wouldn't you put out your autumn decs if it is indeed autumn?)

No problem if you’re American. Brits don’t say “Fall”. If you’d been British and used that word I’d despair at the impact social media is having on our culture. ‘Seasonal decorations’ are bad enough (again, no problem if you’re American). I’m half-expecting Brits to start celebrating Thanksgiving at some point so a pumpkin-pie photo can be uploaded alongside shiny smiley lip-glossed faces.
