To think fat women look better in bikinis than one pieces

Before anyone jumps on me, of course people can wear what they want and feel most comfortable in...

But ive just returned from holiday and I did think whilst lying on the beach and round the pool how much better larger women look in bikini rather than one piece costumes. I think maybe it's just a confidence thing and those who exude confidence rather than self consciousness look better overall.

But regardless of that, I just think visually they actually look better...not that anyone owes attractiveness to others obviously

I was quite refreshed by holidaying in Italy solely amongst Italians to see that absolutely nobody wears a swimsuit, its bikinis only. Vertical caesarean scars, massive bellies, sagging skin. Nobody gives a fuck.

I get you, op. I like looking at other women and the clothing choices they make. And yes, judging, if it comes to that. Positively, negatively, indifferently, whatevs. What women wear and how they present themselves is a source of great interest to me. On Saturday at the station, while coming home from my holiday with a massive tooth infection, I saw a young Indian woman wearing a sari, and I found her colour choices and earrings so flattering and graceful. She looked so beautiful.

Yabu. Just as with slim people, fat people also come in different shapes and sizes so one style doesn't suit all.

People jumped on you because this isn't what you wrote about. You didn't say isn't it great after decades of fat shaming more women not appear confident wearing whatever they feel most confident in. You went straight to the fat women's appearance and straight to how they can look better.

It's not trying to conceal yourself ffs. It's wearing what the wearer wants to wear, what they feel comfortable in, what fits well and what looks the best out of things they've tried on.
As someone very overweight, you couldn't pay me any amount of money to wear a bikini.
I think it's really strange that you've spent time practically studying fat people on the beach and have then taken it even further by posting this. Perhaps some reflection needed.

My stomach hasn't seen the sun since about 1994. It does not look better on show than under a one piece. Also my huge and rather soft boobs are more likely to stay put in a one piece than trying to keep them inside a bikini top. I would not be strutting around with confidence in a bikini (but i am confident enough in a one piece that holds everything in)

Thank you. Exactly. Obviously people can and should wear what they want but like most people I look at certain styles and clothes and think some look better than others. I saw a woman on the beach..she was large and wearing a dark one piece and longer shorts. She looked self conscious. Things is she was big, I've been big so I'm not judging that...but if you're big, you look big whether you are covered up or not. She'd have looked much better in a bikini or not trying to make herself less visible. There were loads of women on the beach in all shapes and sizes and ages wearing bikinis. I wish we saw the bikini as just a practical clothing choice rather than a reward for being young and thin.

I have some crepey slightly loose skin. I wear a bikini. Am i flaunting it?

I've had children and multiple abdominal surgeries. My stomach is saggy with bad stretch marks and scars. Trust me, I look much better with it covered up in a one piece than in a bikini or tankini.

although having said that I was in Switzerland this summer and appeared to be the only person wearing a rash vest (of either sex) and loads of women in bikinis so….

When I was bigger I would wear one peices, but actually looking back i wish I thought fuck it and just worn a bikini like loads of larger women on the beach do. The sky wouldn't have fallen in and small children wouldn't have run away screaming in horror. Id have been much more comfortable and looked much better

Sadly fat people tend not to look very nice in swimsuits or bikinis, unfortunately. I think a nicely tailored dress is usually most flattering, though not for the beach obviously…

I just can’t wrap my head round why you think you’d have looked better as your tummy was exposed.

Im a size 18 and I wear a swim skirt and bikini top! Its so much more comfortable than a swim suit. Im a swimsuit I feel like my boobs are falling into the stomach area. Its just a sweatbox! Because the swim skirt is higher up the waist it means that only about 4 inches of flesh are actually showing and I get to wear a propper supportive bikini top.

It's strange that you seem to think bikinis look objectively better (not an established fact), and are also a sign of a superior character. And why are you so tied up in the idea that people should try to look as attractive as possible?

Personally, despite the fact that I look absolutely fantastic in a bikini, I prefer a rashvest and board shorts as they reduce the chances of me getting horrendously burnt, cover up personal scars I don't want people noticing (and people do notice as this thread shows), and that aside, I just don't like waltzing about in what is essentially knickers in front of random strangers.

Nothing to do with confidence or attractiveness, and all about personal comfort - which should be foremost for everyone.

No, personally I think it looks awful when people walk around in bikinis with fat spilling out over the top. I’m currently a size 12 and I wouldn’t wear one, but some people don’t care what they look like, and that up to them.
