AIBU to admit to sister that DH probably vandalised her bathroom but wasn’t responsible for all of it?

Last night we went to my sister’s for dinner. During the evening someone wrote “cunt” on the bathroom mirror in what appeared to be shit (turned out to be Nutella but obviously with it being the bathroom it was immediately assumed to be shit).

My sister was the one who found it and came marching downstairs demanding to know who had done it looking at DH and I. Obviously I didn’t do it and I don’t think she would have done it herself so that leaves DH and BIL. Personally I think BIL is most likely as he does childish stuff all the time, sister is fuming that I’m blaming him but both are denying it. AIBU to think it’s obvious that I’m going to believe DH over BIL??

As the evening went on someone threw wet toilet roll at the bathroom ceiling. I suspect this may have been DH but still he’s denying it. AIBU to tell sister that the toilet roll was probably DH but not the mirror or would this just give her the excuse to blame him for both??

How old are you all? I'm surprised any of you are married as this sounds like child behaviour. Grow up

Yourguessisasgoodasmine · 26/07/2026 10:53

You all sound like a bunch of tramps to be honest

ByUniqueViper · 26/07/2026 10:57

How disgusting and disrespectful. Its not primary school!

AgileMentor · 26/07/2026 10:58

Sorry why is your husband throwing wet tissue on your sister bathroom ceiling? I’d be ever so embarrassed if that was mine.

ScottBakula · 26/07/2026 11:05

I remember the bike one and wondering how the hell that situation came about.
How did op get into sister's house?
( I gave up reading after a few post so I don't know if this was answered)

@AliceNotInChains there is absolutely no way any of you would be invited back to my house if this was even remotely true.
There is no way a whole toilet roll would stick to the ceiling, you need to get much better at lies if you want us to believe you.
You have had enough practice now !

NCForOneNightOnly · 26/07/2026 11:06

Very grown up. Did you all flick bogies at the ceiling too?

IsThistheMiddleofNowhere · 26/07/2026 11:17

Most ridiculous thing to put on mumsnet. I just hope none of you are parents because you barely sound mature enough to have left primary school.

Hackedoffinoldage · 26/07/2026 11:19

Of all the things that never happened, this never happened the most

Bananalanacake · 26/07/2026 11:24

Surely the culprit is who ever took the jar to the bathroom.

Phoenixfire1988 · 26/07/2026 12:30

Even my 3 yo is more mature dear christ id be embarrassed even posting this .

Bigreddog25 · 26/07/2026 12:34

Clearly a joke post.

Far too much time on your hands.

Minasama · 26/07/2026 12:43

What on earth type of people are these? Please let us know so we can avoid them.

You have no facts, so you cannot admit or deny anything.

However the fact that you are both with men where any part of this behaviour is vaguely plausible is a major concern. Normal people don’t behave this way.

Surely it would be better to be on your own than with someone where you could believe they did this?

I would really encourage you to get out now. Especially given the lack of a full admission and remorse.

These sound like the type of men who a few years down the line are in police custody claiming you fell on the knife.

DaysIllRememberAllMyLife · 26/07/2026 12:47

Tedious troll.

Easterchicken · 26/07/2026 13:13

What a bizarre family

Is this the same woman who was going to a haunted castle on holiday and wouldn't share her ensuite??

Cleo65 · 26/07/2026 13:24

Have you considered getting a hobby, rather than making up stories to get attention off a bunch of random strangers on MN?

MNLurker1345 · 26/07/2026 13:45

@AliceNotInChains, what’s wrong with you, girl?

I have had a look at your other threads. Do you and your sister actually talk? Does she post on MN about the unreasonable things you do?

Why are you married to someone that would throw wet loo roll around a bathroom. It doesn’t matter what you tell your sister. What does matter is that your DH is an idiot and your BIL is an idiot too, if what you say is true and that you and your sister are married to idiots.

SunnyRR · 26/07/2026 14:09

You don’t need to tell your sister anything- you didn’t do it and you don’t know who did. Your guess as to who did it is irrelevant.

Beyond that, whether your DH was responsible or not, I’d be having a conversation with your DH to make it clear you found the behaviour unacceptable- whether it was him or BIL, you can make your views on it clear. If it was him, he may think twice next time.

Whole thing is ridiculous. I take it there were no children in the house- I’d be livid if there was any risk my children witnessed this behaviour.

I have no words.
The whole post is so unreasonable.

Oh it’s you again. Give it a rest.

Does she have a history of posting false stuff?

EmmaB1309 · 26/07/2026 16:06

Imbeciles the both of them. And the fact that you are talking about this deeds like he is a child makes you not much better.

Yep! (Only just seen this thread.)

And the one about monopolisingthe toilets on holiday, which makes me think the message was meant for checks notes OP…

(and I can’t believe I’m commenting after four pages without OP coming back - she really does do it for the rise, doesn’t she?!)
