AIBU to expect my sister to store my bike briefly?

On Friday I bought a new bike off marketplace. I currently have my old bike in my hallway as I need to clean it up and sell it so I took my new bike to my sisters and popped it in the hallway. She was at work so I sent her a message saying I’ve temporarily put a bike in her hallway and it will be moved in about a weeks time. Didn’t hear anything back until evening when she messaged telling me to come and move the bike. I told her I had nowhere to put it until I sell my old one but reassured her I’d be cleaning it up over weekend and will list it on Monday.

Yesterday morning she sent another message saying her husband was fuming about the bike saying it was “ruining their hallway” and he wanted it moved. I said it will be moved asap.

This morning I got up to see my new bike sat in front of my house on the driveway. I’ve messaged her and she said she didn’t do it, her husband did. So I said I’m bringing it back as it can’t stay on the driveway because obviously it will get stolen!! Not to mention weather damage. She replied saying not to bring it back or her DH will simply leave it in the street.

Im fuming because there has been many times they have stored stuff at my house and I’ve had to just work around it.

Anyway they have a keyboard at my house and I’ve told her either the bike gets stored there for a few days max or the keyboard goes to live outside. She’s not replied yet.

AIBU?? I could get my bike sold by Wednesday.

It's a difficult situation for you trying to store two bikes but you can't just dump it on your sister and her husband and expect them to put up with it. Perhaps if you had asked in advance things might have been different. You do come over as a bit entitled.

Or this is a reverse.

3xmonsters · 19/04/2026 08:10

You cannot just put things in other people's homes. I would also be livid. Put your bike in your home and apologise for being so entitled!

Drpawpawspaw · 19/04/2026 08:10

This is a joke yes?

ZenNudist · 19/04/2026 08:10

Drop off the keyboard and store your bike where that was.

MrsMiagi · 19/04/2026 08:11

This is so weird. Do none of you actually talk things through first?
Imagine just dumping a bike with no discussion, I'd be angry if i was the husband too. Its really cheeky if you didnt ask first

Octavia64 · 19/04/2026 08:11

Sorry you didn’t even ask?

DonewhatIcando · 19/04/2026 08:11

Thanks for the laugh on a sunny Sunday morning.
Really hope this is a joke or a reverse as no-one could be so obtuse, surely?

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 19/04/2026 08:11

Jesus fucking Christ.

Floatingdownriver · 19/04/2026 08:11

Reverse.

TokyoSushi · 19/04/2026 08:11

OP! You can’t just put a bike in somebody else’s hallway!

Where exactly??

I was team "YABU" up until the point you said your sister and BIL have also used you as storage many times and currently have a keyboard at your house, so now I've voted YANBU.

I'd be annoyed you just assumed you could store the bike at mine and having to have it in a hallway is inconvenient, but your sister and BIL can't use you as long term storage for their stuff, and then object to helping you out for 1 week!

Drop off the keyboard and store your bike where that was.

The keyboard is in my living room and it’s a big full size piano one

Not sure if this is real but you should have asked first- a bike in the house would be a massive inconvenience. You cannot compare a bike to a keyboard.

Betterbyfar · 19/04/2026 08:13

You obviously are not close with your sister
and now your bike is cluttering up her hallway

100% with your sister

you are rude, inconsiderate and a bit of a twat I suspect

AliceNotInChains · 19/04/2026 08:11

Where exactly??

Living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, landing, etc....

hahabahbag · 19/04/2026 08:14

I’d be fuming if someone put anything in my house without asking first full stop. Yabu

Nowvoyager99 · 19/04/2026 08:14

This has to be a reverse? Surely nobody is this entitled?

Thank you! It wouldn’t even be a full week, a few days is all I’m asking. I did say a week initially but after the backlash I said I can sort it in a few days.

If she has a garage or shed and you ASKED first then yes, storing it for you would be helpful. However you can’t just put a bike in someone’s hallway, especially without checking first! I’m with her husband.

AliceNotInChains · 19/04/2026 08:12

The keyboard is in my living room and it’s a big full size piano one

So so take it to your sister, and put your bike there....

AliceNotInChains · 19/04/2026 08:12

The keyboard is in my living room and it’s a big full size piano one

So surely this is the solution. You swap the keyboard to their house and store your bike where the keyboard is?

MyOtherProfile · 19/04/2026 08:14

Stick your bike in your bedroom or living room. It's only until Wednesday apparently.

OvernightBloats · 19/04/2026 08:14

Did you just let yourself into their house and dump your bike without asking? That is very cheeky and rude!

Why can't you put the bike in your house somewhere? Anywhere - lounge? kitchen? It's not a problem if it is for a short space of time.

Your mistake was not asking first. Never assume!

44PumpLane · 19/04/2026 08:15

AliceNotInChains · 19/04/2026 08:12

The keyboard is in my living room and it’s a big full size piano one

So on this basis the keyboard is probably bigger than the bike, definitely tell them that the keyboard needs to go so that your bike can sit where the keyboard was .... Or that they can help you out for 1 week and you will continue to help them with their massive piano sized keyboard!
