To be annoyed at the assumption that I am a Mrs?

So I completed a update form at the dentist for myself and my daughter; the ones they routinely hand out. It didn't ask for my title, but I ticked the "married" box.
Next thing I know, my name pings up on the screen as Mrs .
Just no!!
At the end of my appointment I went to ask for it to be corrected, but AIBU to be annoyed at the assumption?
A bit like the thread today referring to the new prime minister's wife as Mrs Burnham. She is Ms van Heel.

It is statistics i think although unnecessary but that is why they ask, builds a "picture" of their patient base.

Well the fairly obvious way to win would be to do what most forms do, and just ask for a title.

Huh, that’s interesting still not sure what use knowing the percentage of their patients are married helps them with but perhaps it’s to avoid discrimination? Thanks for the info!

Tbh I would also presume if someone was married they’d be a Mrs.

Really weird they didn’t give you the option of Miss/Ms/Mrs on the form but asked if you were married? Why do they need to know!

Couldn't get worked up about this. They put one thing. You corrected it to another. Problem solved. As countless others have said the majority of married women go by Mrs. So for the majority of people they'd be right. They could have asked. But they didn't and you corrected them. No big deal

The whole thing would be a lot simpler if there was jist one title for adult women.

Boys and men are now both called Mr.

Women have a title that refers to our syatus to men.

I can see the point you are trying to make and why you might be annoyed, but come on there are bigger things in this life to stress about. This would not bother me in the slightest. I have a lot of bigger stresses in my life than to let something so minor bother me.

Gosh what a coincidence this happened just as Ms van Heel has become more widely known.

Have your beliefs and voice them but don't get annoyed that you are 1 in 1000 that has an issue with it. Just let the dentist do his job and move on. This is the society you live in, most married people go by Mrs. Like it or not

Oh get a life, my dentist is a male who I am seeing tomorrow so so sorry I wrote that..dear lord. I also wrote most married people go by Mrs but you didn't jump on that did you ?

Can't remember the last time I used mine when talking to someone. It's just first name surname usually

What am I reading.

I kept my maiden name. I couldn't give a flying f if people call me Mrs husband last name or Ms my last name. It doesn't adversely affect my life in anyway.
