To ask which city you'd move to in England if you didn't live there already

I am thinking about it. Would prefer not London tbh although appreciate that's where the jobs are (and in some ways it's probably the easiest fit for outsiders).

Where is friendly, has stuff to do, jobs and the like. I think my answer is going to end up being Newcastle (but I like York).

There are hardly any not-nice bits of Bath really. The bits that Bathonians turn their noses up at are still very safe and beautiful by the standards of almost any other city. I'm tempted by the countryside too, although we live on the fringes and can walk into stunning countryside from our house so I'm pretty happy with that.

Norwich

It’s lovely, lots of redevelopment, but still has so much character. Elm Hill, the Lanes, the market, lovely vibe. It’s my home city, currently live on the North Norfolk coast, but can’t stay away from the city.

Truro, Cornwall.
It's big enough for all I require at my age and you can get to most the whole of Cornwall with a drive of an hour or less.

I used to work there and did find a few areas to feel unsafe. I think all cities have this though.

Another vote for Durham! We really like the city and I love the coastline up there (plus it’s not too far from North Yorkshire or Northumberland, which we also love!)

Love York and Liverpool. Outside of England it would be Cardiff.

Not sure if its a city. But im from a village close to Brighton and if I could move anywhere it would be somewhere in the new forest. I love it there!

London - always.

I would love to live in Manchester it has so much going on.

I live there and it’s fab! Diverse and compact and just … fab!

I live in Edinburgh. Wouldn't move to England for a million pounds!

If money was no object, somewhere close to Hampstead Heath. I also like Oxford and Bath.

I've got many happy memories of Ambleside, but I'm not sure I'd like to live there year round.

We live in Manchester and we're thinking of local options for when when the DC leave. Didsbury Village or Altrincham for 10 years maybe. Ultimately though, we want to end up with a view of a body of water of some sort. We're not too fussy on what, but we also need good transport.

Manchester every time. I love London & loved living there but wouldn’t do it again. I’m Welsh & Cardiff is a beautiful city. I live in Brighton & it’s great. But I’ve lived in Manchester and would go back in a heartbeat

I absolutely love York.

Liverpool. One of our DC went there for university and stayed. Other DC lives in the same city we do, so the only reason I would move is to be nearer to the other child.

Falmouth as it’s beautiful and really cool with great beaches. No jobs though and housing costs are high so it’s a pipe dream.

Oxford or Bath. All my DC were born in Oxford - the day I left I just wondered if I was making a massive mistake, and thought never mind, you can always move back. Unfortunately, there’s no way I could afford to do so any more. And yes, I do mind.

Cheltenham - used to live there and wish we’d never left!

I like York a lot, also Norwich.

I'd go for Wells too.

I like many of the smaller cities. Chichester and Winchester are both nice.
