To ask which city you'd move to in England if you didn't live there already

I am thinking about it. Would prefer not London tbh although appreciate that's where the jobs are (and in some ways it's probably the easiest fit for outsiders).

Where is friendly, has stuff to do, jobs and the like. I think my answer is going to end up being Newcastle (but I like York).

Mine would 100% be York.

Not England and I like where I am, but Cardiff is a great place to live and near the seaside too.

Bath, without question. Newcastle would probably be second on the list.

London every time. There's somewhere for everyone.

Cheltenham, or the nicer areas of Bath or Bristol.

Depends on budget. North is cheaper.

Not really the question you asked - but I’d stay exactly where I am. York 😂.

Another vote for York I'm a southener and have only visited twice but I love it.

I should say though that I wouldn't actually choose to live in any city nowadays. I've enjoyed it in the past, but now I prefer all the diversions the countryside has to offer!

Sheffield it has a lot of people who go there to university and stay. So has a lot of 'outsiders'.
Definitely northern as its cheapper.
I think I'd also consider.what area of work was needed/type of accommodation.
I would have said york some years ago but now I'm in a wheelchair there's too many cobbles/inaccessible areas (not all but enough to make it difficult.

Manchester. Has everything you could need, loads going on, great public transport and fab nearby countryside.

We live in a Manchester suburb which is at the end of the tram. It is handy for the airport and is a few minutes from countryside and National Trust properties. There are several Grammar schools which do well nationally and Trafford pupils as a whole also do well.

If we had to move we would look at Harrogate and also Skipton, both surrounded by beautiful countryside, have individual shops and also a couple of Grammar schools.

Both of our DC are now in London, so at some point we may need to move further south. Both DH and I like Oxford, but we’d have to live in a very small house because property prices are very high.
