I know plenty of Scots agree with me.

I'm half Scottish (dad) so always support both. In the past I'd probably want Scotland to win if it was them against England to be honest. Although now because of the Argentina support I'm going off supporting Scotland.

I desperately want England to win this one more than against any other team.

Don’t care!!! I don’t get bent out of shape on who others, do or don’t support. I support Arsenal there is absolutely no way I’d support Man U or C, Spurs etc if they were playing in Europe. So why would I care if Scots support the opposition, all the sweeter when England win.

In response to the “anyone but England” approach that Scots seem to take, I’ve adopted an “anyone but Scotland” view. The best part of these tournaments is when Scotland get knocked out, and they really did it in style this time!

I don’t know how Scottish fans have got a reputation for being jolly and no trouble. I watched a Celtic match (a friendly) in Glasgow once and it was like a war zone afterwards. Hundreds of police, struggling to keep thousands of angry drunk Scottish fans under control. For a friendly!!

Yes I like football, I support England as well as another country I have heritage from (not in the World Cup though). But if I wanted to supper Egypt or Norway or whoever I could!

If it was a war against Norway or whoever (to pick and unlikely one) I would obviously be all for the country I live in and was born in, the Uk! Which would included England and Scotland, to go back to the question you’re asking.

Thank goodness football doesn’t matter and it’s just a game with all its little quirks, like Uk nations competing separately.

I don’t really like us playing Argentina as it goes because it makes me think about Margaret Thatcher and I’d rather not be reminded of her!

The Argentinians still haven't given up their spurious claim to the Falkland Islands - British people died during that unnecessary conflict. Anyone who supports their team should be ashamed of themselves. You don't have to support England but you shouldn't support Argentina.

Stupid comment. There’s a strong Welsh community in Patagonia so loads of Welshmen and Welshwomen support Argentina and not just because they’re playing England.

I'd support Scotland or Wales against anyone other than England or New Zealand in any sport.

But then I consider them as part of 'us'. Clearly some Scotts feel very different and if that's how they want to be that's up to them.

I didn’t watch the quarter final and woke early to see the results. So bloody disappointing. A dodgy goal. A disallowed goal. A manager saying the team need to do better.

At this level, they do. There should be no controversy, that’s what is annoying. Same with rugby.
