Praise for Queen Camilla's common sense

So are the rabid TRAs going to try to cancel Queen Camilla for daring to meet with and praise J K Rowling? I'd like to see them try! Probably the only useful thing any member of the Royal Family has ever done, encouraging free speech in publishing. I might even become a Royalist after all.

I can’t see her as anything other than side piece
let alone queen

LuckyHazelFox · 03/07/2026 01:46

Apparently they talked about their shared love of literature. I'm sure though that merely entertaining JKR, will make the Queen a hate target. What has it come to?

Katflapkit · 03/07/2026 04:43

I think Camilla is Bullet proof and doesn't care a jot. At 78 not many are seeking public opinion.

Camilla is in a much better position to defend herself than the bunny charity the TRAs picked on.

Am sure she’s devastated you think that!

IFancyABaconSarnie · 03/07/2026 06:18

Queen Camilla 😂 she’s not a patch on the late Queen Elizabeth II. When you think what the late Queen did over her lifetime compared to the wooden, stiff Camilla. It’s a bloody cheek that Camilla is now referred to as Her Majesty the Queen.
Camilla Queen Consort is more fitting as she is the wife of the reigning monarch, King Charles II. Nothing more, nothing less.

Why be sarky to me, when you haven't bothered with the person I quoted?

King Charles III

Theunamedcat · 03/07/2026 06:39

She is Charles choice Diana made a sort of peace with it according to her friends she was definitely on a better footing with Charles before she died i think its time the nation did too

Don't be silly. Almost every king we've had has been married and not one of their wives was routinely referred to as (forename) Queen Consort. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother was simply Queen Elizabeth before her daughter became Queen Elizabeth II and only got the postscrpt because they shared a forename. Her MIL was Queen Mary and Queen Mary's MIL was Queen Alexandra. Camilla is Queen Camilla and the whole point of royalty is that there's no aspect of how popular you are or how worthy of the role, your position in the hierarchy is fixed. If you want any kind of element of popularity or deservingness then you are fundamentally missing the point.

BiteSizedLife · 03/07/2026 06:42

🤷🏼‍♀️ She's Queen Camilla to me, I've no problem with her.

He should have been allowed to marry her in the first place.

MaryBeardsShoes · 03/07/2026 06:43

Ooh if only Diana were here!

I think it’s hilarious people call the QUEEN a side piece. Jesus Christ grow up.

Exactly! Especially when love for each other has endured longer than most people's marriages!

Sj37dj · 03/07/2026 06:56

I think this will highlight how disliked JK Rowling is now and how utterly let down young trans readers feel by her. I doubt the royal family will
make the same mistake again. If Camilla wants to be seen as advancing reading in youngsters that should include all kids. To be giving airtime to somebody that has been so hateful to a section of society either highlights a nasty side to the royal family or a big PR mistake.

itsanamething · 03/07/2026 06:58

Would any other woman in a second marriage be referred to as a "side piece"?

Anyone who listened to Diana and Charles speak (on camera so in their own words) recognises both tried very hard to work on their marriage. A divorced heir to the throne was the last thing the monarchy needed. Before Harry was born in September 1984 they were the happiest they'd ever been.

In 1992 Diana admitted that by 1985 she was deeply in love with someone who worked "in this environment" and his death had devastated her. (This was believed to be Barry Manakee, her police protection officer, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1987.)

Charles stated that learning of Diana's infidelity led to him reconnecting with Camilla.

It comes down to which account you believe. Diana was very unhappy and knew Charles pined for Camilla hence "three of us in the marriage". Charles is adamant he did not pick up with Camilla until after Diana had strayed and the marriage was over.

Because TRAs are just bullies targetting anyone and everything. You dont have to agree with everything (or anything) JKR says to acknowledge...

  • she has done a lot for childrens literacy
  • she funds a womans shelter
  • she donates a lot of royalties to a charity she set up to help orphans and vulnerable children
  • she supports resesrch into MS
  • provides legal support for women.

Also... pretty much evrry child I know does love her. Its only adults who like to pretend she is hated.

Every child does not love her, the tide has turned massively. Youngsters are far more inclusive and think her behaviour is appalling. I’ve seen it online, with my own kids and in a work capacity.

Her behaviour to a vulnerable section of society has been frankly appalling.

Corianda · 03/07/2026 07:17

my 14 year old DGS doesn't spell well and his writing is dire but apparently it doesn't matter as everyone uses laptops.
How can it not matter - but he doesn't read books so I presume that is why - anything to make kids read books by anyone is good imv

When you say “inclusive” @Sj37dj you are still only meaning “as long as you believe what we want”?
how would you react to a child, yours or at work who said they were legally entitled to single sex service provision?
would you be inclusive of them?

If you/trans identified people think that women's rights are hateful that's more of a "you" problem than anything else.

ALovelyPinkUnicorn · 03/07/2026 07:25

What behaviour are we talking about? Specifically?

Yes, I'd also be interested to know what Sj37dj thinks JKR has done specifically which is apparently so hateful.

@Sj37dj You're wrong. Polls in the UK are showing young people getting increasingly sick of identity politics shite. As is everyone.

Be who you are, wear what you like, but you can't compel people's words, and trans identified men can't appropriate women's rights or spaces for themselves anymore.
