Praise for Queen Camilla's common sense

So are the rabid TRAs going to try to cancel Queen Camilla for daring to meet with and praise J K Rowling? I'd like to see them try! Probably the only useful thing any member of the Royal Family has ever done, encouraging free speech in publishing. I might even become a Royalist after all.

Every child does not love her, the tide has turned massively. Youngsters are far more inclusive and think her behaviour is appalling. I’ve seen it online, with my own kids and in a work capacity.

Her behaviour to a vulnerable section of society has been frankly appalling.

Until a female child needs a single sex space, needs single sex health care or loves competing in girls sports and finds male children get everything and they get nothing. You can see the tide turn in their eyes.

Aposterhasnoname · 03/07/2026 09:32

God, the hatred on here from the be kind brigade for two women just trying to advance children's reading is something to see. I wonder if two men doing the same would be called "side piece" and "utterly hateful" amongst other things.

Camilla has a big project going about getting kids and people reading. Meeting JKR is about that. Fair enough - and I’m warming to Camilla. She’s agreed to interviews QE2 never would have done. I saw her interviewed about the Ebony Horse Club at Ascot recently. She can have a natural chat and even have a laugh. She likes people and it comes across when she speaks. I’m sure JKR found her good company.

I met the then Prince Charles and Camilla when they came to my workplace. They were warm and engaging. I liked them. And I’m not even a monarchist!

5128gap · 03/07/2026 09:29

If Diana was here I reckon she'd be more a supporter of TWAW than of JKR. She was always very..Elton John...wasn't she?

Gay rights didn't infringe on anyone else's rights though. Gay and lesbian people literally just wanted equal rights and to not be discriminated against, they weren't trying to get everyone else to change for them. They weren't trying to mangle definitions of words, and gay and lesbian people were never attempting to appropriate other people's rights.

The fight for gay rights is not comparable to the gender ideological movement.

Editing to say I don't know if Dianna would have jumped on this bandwagon or not, just wanted to point out the difference between the gay rights movement and the crazy men's rights movement on steroids we have now.

Queen Camilla 😂 she’s not a patch on the late Queen Elizabeth II. When you think what the late Queen did over her lifetime compared to the wooden, stiff Camilla. It’s a bloody cheek that Camilla is now referred to as Her Majesty the Queen.
Camilla Queen Consort is more fitting as she is the wife of the reigning monarch, King Charles II. Nothing more, nothing less.

Had Diana been married to Charles when he became king, would you have insisted on this styling for her, too?

The wife of the king is the queen, whether or not you or anyone else likes her.

I’ve met Camilla a few times through charity connections. I like her.

user293948849167 · 03/07/2026 09:36

I’m not a royalist particularly but I actually really like Queen Camilla. I think she does a lot for charity quietly behind the scenes and never seems to expect praise or thanks.
She does a lot for children and VAWG in particular.
I think she definitely is a TERF 💪

I was (to me, bafflingly) fond of Diana. I felt intensely that she was used and betrayed by the Royal Family and was also appalled by how she died as well as how early.

But I have come round to Camilla. I think she’s really a good egg and that the whole situation was the result of old fashioned mistaken ideas (the Queen’s) and I am kind of glad that in the end she and Charles have got to be mainly happy.

So good for her, acknowledging the national treasure status of JKR and here’s to the healing power of books.

Honestly that reflects badly in you, not her. Is an affair ever ok? No. But the fact that they have formalised their relationship and she's by his side through all of this shows it wasn't just a cheap slap and tickle. They've been married 21 years. Get over yoirself

let alone queen

Ugh.

'Side piece'? Charming.

I like her. She fulfils her role quietly and with great dignity considering the horrible insults she has to suffer from nasty people who make crude judgments with little understanding of the past. She never wanted to be queen - but she gets on with it and comes over as the most self-effacing, un-egotistical person. She doesn't make things about her - she throws light on causes and the people she meets.

I wish her good luck and I hope she manages to ignore the meanness of small-minds.

If your kids think that defending women's rights is appalling behavior then you have utterly failed as a parent. I'd be ashamed to admit that.

Interested to hear where online you are seeing all these kids pouring out their hate for JK though. Personally I tend to stay away from online spaces meant for kids.

CoffeeCantata · 03/07/2026 09:43

Sj37dj · 03/07/2026 06:56

I think this will highlight how disliked JK Rowling is now and how utterly let down young trans readers feel by her. I doubt the royal family will
make the same mistake again. If Camilla wants to be seen as advancing reading in youngsters that should include all kids. To be giving airtime to somebody that has been so hateful to a section of society either highlights a nasty side to the royal family or a big PR mistake.

The trans community makes up what...0.01% of the population??? Correct me if I'm wrong.

But what an unholy and disproportionate racket the minuscule minority make.

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 03/07/2026 09:50

@CoffeeCantata you are wrong. That’s the % for the 16-24 age group. It decreases significantly in older age groups. Eventually to 1/5 of your headline figure. This tells us something about modern culture maybe?

I'm totally in favour or respecting and accommodating minorities, but in the end, we need to remember that they are minorities and the tail should not wag the dog!

Once tiny, vociferous, aggressive and frankly not very nice minorities become ultra-dominant the tide of opinion will turn against them and they'll have shot themselves in the foot.

Or perhaps that's what they wanted all along - to be seen as perpetual victims, no matter what lengths society goes to to support them?? While viciously bullying those who question their behaviour...

MaryBeardsShoes · 03/07/2026 06:43

Ooh if only Diana were here!

I think it’s hilarious people call the QUEEN a side piece. Jesus Christ grow up.

It IS pathetic, isn't it? Misogynistic and small-minded in the extreme. And super-spiteful.

I'm so glad that 85% of people on this thread agree with OP and are mature, historically-aware, grown-up and reasonable people, though.

This is ridiculous, she was his first love, Diana came after and knew full well what she was getting into. The Queen should have let him marry Camilla and none of the awfulness that followed would of happened.

People always say about the Queen allowing him to marry Camilla and miss the point that Camilla didn’t want to marry him. She wanted to marry Andrew Parker Bowles. She, like so many other royal girlfriends over the years, (quite understandably) didn’t want the hassle that came with being Charles’ wife.

That's just vulgar and unfair. She is legally married, and her husband is the King. Of course she's the Queen, and she's doing a fantastic job.

I'm not thinking of the fight for gay rights. I'm thinking of Elton John, their close relationship and his 'staunch allyship.' It would be difficult I'm sure for a GC queen to be close friends with a man who describes the trans community as 'the bravest people in the world' and actively campaigns against single sex toilets.

I misunderstood, I'm with you now!

Aye and even if Dianna turned out to be GC and was able to maintain her friendship with Elton John, EJ would quickly find himself in the firing line from the trans community if he stayed publicly friends with her because of her "hateful" views that women deserve consideration and rights separate from men in a decent and supposedly equal society.

Exactly. I can imagine Diana in her privileged bubble taking the be kind approach. Perhaps I do her a disservice though.

When did she becone Queen not Queen consort? No Queen of mine - although I like JKR

The moment QEII died. Same as Catherine will become Queen the moment KCIII dies. If Camilla outlives him she'll still be a Queen. Both Camilla and Catherine are/will be Queens Consort, same as plenty before them but known as Queen Camilla/Catherine same as Queen Elizabeth (the last Queen's mother), Queen Mary etc.

In the early days after KC dies Catherine will probably be referred to as Queen Consort same as Camilla was just to add clarity about who we are talking about. It wasn't pejorative towards Camilla in 2022 and it won't be to Catherine whenever that happens.

They've been married 20 years. Let it go.

Noone cares about the wives of the men Diana had affairs with. Nor do they GAF about Dodi's fiancee that he ditched for Diana.

Absolutely right, Asuperbly.

I hate terms like 'side piece', whoever is being talked about, but if that's the kind of language HotBothered and others understand, then I'll put money on Diana having been a s/p many, many more times than Camilla.

How does that fit with her saintly status? Or justify demonising Camilla?

I won't hold my breath for an answer, though. They know there isn't one.

Witchcraftandhokum · 03/07/2026 11:06

Both she and Charles have morals lower than a snakes belly, so I'm hardly going to trust her judge of character.
